Javier Hernandez is the hero for United after climbing off the bench to turn the game around at Villa Park. The Mexican’s double and assist earned the visitors a stunning 3-2 victory, while Andreas Weimann also bagged a brace for the beaten hosts:

On the Up

Javier Hernandez
Sent on as a sub after half-time, his introduction proved the difference for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side. Hernandez produced two goals and assist as United came from two down – Ron Vlaar was credited with an own goal for the second, after the Mexican’s strike was deemed to be off target before a deflection helped it into the Villa net.

Andreas Weimann
A peripheral figure in the Villa set-up of late, the Austrian was handed his first start since Gameweek 4 this evening. Weimann notched both Villa’s goals and has surely staked a claim for a regular role, bearing in mind that the hosts had previously scored more than a single goal just once in their opening 10 matches.

Christian Benteke
Having supplied attacking returns in each of his previous two, the Belgian maintained his strong recent form with an assist for Weimann’s opener. The skill and strength displayed in bettering Chris Smalling and composure to set up the Austrian, allied with his current form, has more than vindicated Paul Lambert’s decision to start Benteke over Darren Bent.

Going Down

United Defence
Once again, United’s backline failed to keep out their opponents. Villa had scored just twice in their four league matches prior to this evening but Weimann’s strike just before the break means United have now trailed in seven of their 11 league matches – as this evening’s game showed, grinding out results is simply not an option for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.

Ashley Young
He’d played 90 minutes in the previous wins over Chelsea and Arsenal but an insipid first-half display against his former club saw the winger subbed off for Hernandez at the break. With a single assist to his name this term, Young is showing little to suggest he deserves a regular role for the league leaders.

Morning people. My first bleary-eyed thought of the day is 'what to do about Michu' ...................not exactly ripping it up, is he??

Depending on today's game I'm thinking Michu > Silva, Tevez > Berba

    Stick or twist?

Good morning guys! I have an interesting dilemma next week, turns out I got Jask + Demel and Bego + Cameron. They are playing each other. Should I put my eggs in one basket, or spread the risk, and if so, how?

    A) Jask + Cameron
    B) Bego + Demel
    C) Jask + Demel
    D) Bego + Cameron

I currently have it on B. My reasoning is that Bego could get save points away from home, and that West Ham will be slightly more attacking with their fullbacks at home. Also, no reason that game can't end up 0-0. Thoughts?

Yeah, if I was going to double up it would have to be on West Ham. Stoke aren't exactly free-scoring. Guess todays West Ham game will give me some more pointers, but I think I'll end up with B.

Sucks that I had to bring Fellaini in before knowing who my next cup opponent will be. That is if I actually make it past this round. Tevez, Sterling, and Ivanovic have to stay quiet while Mata, Santon, or Defoe bring in the points. City win is better than mine though of course.

Normally I don't like knee jerking or making transfers this early but had to do the following last night to avoid price rises because would have had 0.0 in the bank.

    Pienaar and Clark OUT

    Fellaini and Gorkss IN

Cue Fellaini YC and 1 pointer next weekend!

Ramires is playing too deep in his central midfield role, and I don't see him getting a chance in the front 4 anytime soon since he's doing pretty well and we got too many options in the attacking midfielder area. Cabaye could do well with his fixtures if they keep playing 4-4-2, Sunderland still seem hopeless though.

It's pretty sensible to keep some cash in the bank for transfer flexbility I always think (mind you I only have 0.1M at the moment). Otherwise you're faced with an increased chance of needing 2 transfers and a point hit.

As an example, I went on full tilt and ignored my own advice when playing my wildcard a couple of weeks back - spent right up to the hilt and made a series of terrible 'game morning' decisions (got sucked into the baying for Cazorla on this site + the Bale bandwagon and I transferred out Mata and RVP...the week they were pretty much the top scoring pair).

Then had to spend 8 points transferring them back in the next week and even though I managed c.80 points that week, ultimately I'd cost myself about 40 points plus at least 0.6M in lost price increases.

          The morals of the story:
          i) Be very careful with your wildcard and don't use it to change things for the sake of change
ii) Keep some cash in your bank

    Anytime scorer odds:

    Ba - evens
    Bale 3/1
    Hazard 21/10
    Saylor 9/1

And with those odds I'm off to bed.

Walcott was higher up the pitch, took a few of Santi's set pieces and is a better finisher when it counts. As long as he's nailed on I think Walcott is the superior pick imo

Tend to agree with this and it is really hard not to just shift out Cazorla after seeing the effect Walcott had. I am keeping for the moment just because I have decided to be a stubborn pric k and ignore everything...

Early look at next week, play Sterling (WIG) over Michu (new)?

    Currently got this:

    Bego (McCarthy)
    Rafael Baines Santon (Nelsen Demel)
    Santi Fella Mata Sterling
    Rvp Berba Tevez

    Save FT baring any setbacks?

but on the other hand i can get silva in 2 weeks time

Ok after my initial thoughts of taking an 8 point hit, I have now decided to ignore them all and save the transfer..

With no Fellaini, Berba, Mata, Bale, Suarez, Walcott I will be a worried man next week.

I'm worried he can do well in the tough fixtures, Everton look very good in terms of attacking returns this year.

So Caz and Michu are dead weights in my team while Fellaini is ripping it up. I need Suarez/Ba to fire today or get that fifth yellow in case of Suarez. Will be easier to get in berba and Fellaini.

i'm looking to trade kightly. i have 0 in the bank, so i can only get 5.5 and below. should i get maloney and spend the 0.5 elsewhere (though I have no idea where), or get a flair pick like taarabt?

    Cazorla to who?

    A. Fellaini
    B. Silva

Would A be too much Everton?

    Jussi - Fed
    Rangel - Hangeland - Cuellar - Cameron - Baines
    Pienaar - Michu - Cazorla - Sterling - Bale
    Ba - Berba - RVP

i would see how silva plays tmrw and decide from there. but if he plays decently, i would go cazorla to silva, and if you really wanted, pienaar to fellaini.

    SAF Comment on Chicharito

"He's fresh this season, he's had a good summer break, it's made a difference to him.

"When he came to us two years ago, that's what we were seeing more of today.

"And obviously, when you score a hat-trick you pick yourself, and I think he'll be playing next week.

"He does his natural thing - he's fantastic in the penalty box, his movement, his quickness and being in space; it's got him three goals today."

I think Rooney or RVP will drop next week and it is against Norwich.

Does anybody think Hazard is over rated. He does not score goals well and his shots are always off target or not good enough to beat the keeper?
