Javier Hernandez is the hero for United after climbing off the bench to turn the game around at Villa Park. The Mexican’s double and assist earned the visitors a stunning 3-2 victory, while Andreas Weimann also bagged a brace for the beaten hosts:

On the Up

Javier Hernandez
Sent on as a sub after half-time, his introduction proved the difference for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side. Hernandez produced two goals and assist as United came from two down – Ron Vlaar was credited with an own goal for the second, after the Mexican’s strike was deemed to be off target before a deflection helped it into the Villa net.

Andreas Weimann
A peripheral figure in the Villa set-up of late, the Austrian was handed his first start since Gameweek 4 this evening. Weimann notched both Villa’s goals and has surely staked a claim for a regular role, bearing in mind that the hosts had previously scored more than a single goal just once in their opening 10 matches.

Christian Benteke
Having supplied attacking returns in each of his previous two, the Belgian maintained his strong recent form with an assist for Weimann’s opener. The skill and strength displayed in bettering Chris Smalling and composure to set up the Austrian, allied with his current form, has more than vindicated Paul Lambert’s decision to start Benteke over Darren Bent.

Going Down

United Defence
Once again, United’s backline failed to keep out their opponents. Villa had scored just twice in their four league matches prior to this evening but Weimann’s strike just before the break means United have now trailed in seven of their 11 league matches – as this evening’s game showed, grinding out results is simply not an option for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.

Ashley Young
He’d played 90 minutes in the previous wins over Chelsea and Arsenal but an insipid first-half display against his former club saw the winger subbed off for Hernandez at the break. With a single assist to his name this term, Young is showing little to suggest he deserves a regular role for the league leaders.

So... That was a sh!t game week and a short lived run in the PP Cup. I don't suppose anyone else was damn fool stupid enough to bench Berbatov?

I'm not prone to asking for advice on the whole squad, but if anyone has any I'm willing to consider anything right now.

    Mignolet (McCarthy)
    Baines McAuley Sagna (Gorkss, Demel)
Ben Arfa Pienaar Valencia Cazorla (Maloney)
    Berbatov RVP Ba

1.9m in the bank, 1 free transfer. Comments appreciated, thanks.

Sagna to Rafa would be a good switch (ARS def is just poor)...I wouldn't be tempted by Pienaar to Fellaini...not until the game after he receives his next yellow

Sadly I've just bought Sagna in, it was a toss up between him and a Stoke def and `i got it emphatically wrong. I agree about Pienaar and Fellaini, it hurts but I'm sticking against him now.

I'm a bit torn on McAuley, people are talking down WBA's fixtures from a defensive point of view but after Chelsea (sun) isn't awful while they're struggling for goals and then its just one game away from three strong home games in 4.

Mid Field is really not good enough. If you still have WC, it's time to use it now. Otherwise,
You may need to take a -4 hit at least.

Cazorla- Mata or Bale or Silva(see tonight match)
      Pienaar- Fellaini

      will do.
      The front line is good.

WC gone, but I wouldn't know how to make adequate use of it now if I had it.

I'm willing to accept it may be an error but I want to stand by Cazorla for now and I've gone against Fellaini long enough to continue until he at least gets the 5th yellow. Sorry if that sounds like I'm just dismissing your advice, it is appreciated!

See below - I'm thinking of the same switch but with Caz to Silva. Similar players but I doubt Citeh are going to be losing to Nor and drawing with Ful

would like some more opinions on this

i’m looking to trade kightly. i have 0 in the bank, so i can only get 5.5 and below. should i get maloney and spend the 0.5 elsewhere (though I have no idea where), or get a flair pick like taarabt?
    here's my team:

    begovic, foster
    baines, ivan, rafa, nelsen, davies
    bale, mata, fellaini, sterling, kightly
    rvp, tevez, berba

Taarabt Ummm, I like him. I like the way he plays. But he need to score goals. According to MOTD, he was outstanding and got some shots and missed good chances too. He will come good. Maloney is too mainstream move. 😀

I am on 37, with Gorkss to come off the bench, plus:

    Bale

while he is on 32, plus:

    Yaya Toure
    Tevez

    Ba

My girlfriend is currently in the top 5k in the world. I normally advise her on some transfers (which she ignores) but I am struggling to think of too many as she doesn't or didn't want her midfield touching. She is currently on 57 points this week with a wildcard to play (I am on the 600K mark).

All the girlfriends team. She picks players by watching buts of match of the day in the background or chatting to her work colleagues about it. she spends no time on stats etc just simply a case of (A isn't doing very well - Who is doing well I will bring them in). She is quite stubborn and doesn't knee-jerk. She also ignores my advice 9 times out of 10 (except this week when I said to captain RVP and not Felliani like she wanted).

there's several moves i'd suggest for that team but not sure if i should be talking given the massive difference in rank between your girlfriend and myself...

i'd suggest getting tevez suarez or ba for aguero. (though aguero could come good if he begins getting regular starts in the epl)

i'd also suggest shipping one or both of hazard and cazorla for any of mata, valencia, bale, walcott and silva.

not too fond of ivanovic for this run of fixtures either

      just some food for thought

Have Bale, don't think Valencia is needed when you have RVP, closely looking at Silva tonight, uncertain about Walcott still, trying to stay away until he sings the contract, or might just get Fellaini.

    Begovic (Ruddy)

    Baines, Rafa, Demel (Davies, Cuellar)

    Caz, Mich, Fell, Mata (Sterling)

    Berb, Suarez, RVP

Knee jerked to bring in Fell for Pie and Ruddy for Foster last night... Any glaring trannies need to be made? Perhaps a Caz - Silva next week. Admired him since Villarreal so it would be a huge wrench to get rid

Just, as long as Silva doesn't rip it up today. Caz to sell at 9.2 and Silva's 9.3 (at least until tonight)
Starting to come round to your thinking on Caz - thought he was superb against Liv and not really seen many Arse games since (just the odd CL game). It would be Bale or Silva for me (it scares me every GW not having Bale)
Not sold on Valencia tho, pretty ineffectual last night although Utd were poor overall. Can you see him exploding?

ahh i gotcha. i think silva could be a good choice though i'd probably give him a couple weeks to monitor him tbh

same here, only seen him a couple of times but just looking at things you'd want your player to get more than just 1 goal and 1 assist in the 3 games they scored more than 3 goals (1 assist in 6-1 victory over sot, 1 goal in 3-1 victory over whu, nothing in 3-3 tie this weekend)

yeah with bale its scary not having him but frustrating having him for so many blanks but then obviously rewarding when he actually does explode.

most on here won't agree with me but i honestly see valencia exploding within the next couple weeks (not sure which game though) and following up that one great game with several games with a goal or assist, kind of like his returns from last season during that stretch where rooney, valencia and evans were pretty much essential

Yep, I will wait on Silva for a couple weeks. Hopefully he'll stay under the radar until then. 9.3 is an absolute steal tho

The most frustrating game for me was the Soton one. The good thing is that Theo and Giroud have started putting away chances that he will invariably create. He can score some pearlers as well, maybe more so than Silva.

Yeah, I had Bale for his run last season when 'Arry gave him licence to go anywhere. He shows up for the big games - I wouldnt be surprised if he notches a goal today. You just need him to show up for the home games against Wigan etc

Getting Valencia in would mean tripling up on Utd - I think RVP and Rafa are enough cover at the moment

Where do you stand on Michu - should I hold or get rid. He does seem to be a bit of a home boy but the OOP and the feeling that they have turned a corner is still drawing me to keep

            Thanks for your advice btw

so much of their attack went through the right side. there were long stretches where it went from the middle out wide right back to the middle etc. valencia had so many touches of the ball. yes his final ball wasn't as killer as it should've been but in my opinion what is important was the number of chances he had. had at least one or two good shot chances too but was blocked at the last second by a defender. I see why you might be skeptical though

Cazorla at home has been poor and I expect that Spurs game to be quiet tight: 1-1? Tevez does raise big question marks, but who knows with Mancini, he may start him on the bench?

Imo, your problem is upfront. Too much money there. I would change Kightly to Fellaini, unless Mata goes mad today, in which case we should both take an 8 point hit! 😉

At some stage soon, you need to review that defence ...

OK for next week Doos though - Baines/Raf/Demel (with Nelson first sub?) Baines is on borrowed time.
