This weekend could see a swarm of new January Transfer Window recruits make their debuts. The most tantalising prospect is arguably Manchester City’s new towering target man, Edin Dzeko, who looks set to feature heavily against Wolves. Other new signings include Roque Santa Cruz’s return to Blackburn, Wayne Bridge looking to bolster West Ham’s backline, Tottenham’s forgotten man David Bentley striving to revive his career at Birmingham, while Steve Sidwell is in a comparable position as he prepares for his Fulham debut.

Elsehwere, Andy Carroll has been ruled out of Sunday’s derby with Sunderland leaving Leon Best and Shola Ameobi to fight it out for a place in the Newcastle attack. Manchester United look set to welcome back Wayne Rooney, Nemanja Vidic and Edwin Van Der Sar as they take on a Beckham-less Tottenham side, who have announced Gareth Bale as match fit. Wojciech Szczesny will start at West Ham for Arsenal after Lukasz Fabianski was ruled out of Saturday’s game. David Silva is still touch and go for Manchester City and will find out later today if he will make their squad.

      why would drogba not start? only reason would be to get a rest. chelsea haven't played since last saturday and drogba didn't even play in that game, plus chelsea don't play in midweek.

      I would grab it by the balls and bench Berbatov. Obviously a risk, but I do think that N'Zogbia can score big tomorrow.

      Look but don't touch until he's proved he can still perform at Premier League level. He was pretty awful last year and can't get a game this. McLeish is determined to find someone to play in the hole behind a lone striker but I don't think the Keane of 2011 is the answer. 2008/9 Keane would've been a great signing.

      Has to be down as a major risk, though I'm not expert. There was no discernable reason I could see for him to be benched the last two games, but he was.

      And he know that Carew is going to be involved here, so that maybe pushes him out furthur.

      Bale is one of the best players in the EPL. Might even get Player of the Year. Somehow his fantasy production hasn't reflected his international production, but this is how it goes sometimes. He's an absolute bargain as at any moment he could grab a boatload of points. This is not a "he's got to come good sometimes" comment (like Torres, Rooney, Malouda, etc.). He's already good.

      I think the only way it makes sense to transfer Bale for N'zog is to take advantage of Wigan's DGW and then transfer Bale back in. This can be done if you don't have a lot of equity in Bale or you're going to WC.
