A couple of midfield protagonists are set to sit on the sidelines after accruing their fifth booking of the season last weekend. Paul Scholes and Mark Noble will both miss out as West Ham travel to Old Trafford on Wednesday evening, with the latter’s absence particularly sore for his side, given he has started every league game so far for the Hammers.

The tightrope welcomes two new contenders after the weekend’s round of matches. Cheick Tiote may have been injured for much of the season but his penchant for picking up yellows remains unquenched – the Ivorian’s caution at St Mary’s yesterday take his tally to four yellows in all competitions ahead of Newcastle’s trip to Stoke on Wednesday. Wigan’s James McArthur fell foul of the ref in his side’s 3-2 win over Reading on Saturday and now balances precariously as the Latics prepare to welcome City to the DW.

Luis Suarez and Michu continue to avoid that fifth yellow which would earn them an automatic ban. With three strong home games in the next five, Suarez looks primed for significant Fantasy attention once again; his owners will be crossing their fingers he stays out of the ref’s notebook against Spurs on Wednesday, bearing in mind he then plays host to Southampton at the weekend.

Those players on four yellows have until New Year until the five-card amnesty kicks in. Basically, if they can avoid another booking in this calendar year, they will then be exempt from the customary one-match ban and receive no more than a warning regarding their future conduct. The limit then moves to 10 yellows, which would earn the guilty party a two-match ban. Most culpable so far are Ahmed El Ahmadi, Craig Gardner and Angel Rangel, who lead the way on six yellow cards apiece.

Having served out a one-match ban in Everton’s draw with Norwich, Marouane Fellaini is available for selection as the Toffees host Arsenal, while Fabricio Coloccini will be welcomed back by Alan Pardew as injury-hit Newcastle make their way to Stoke.

Brede Hangeland and Emmanuel Adebayor are both set to skip the second match of their respective three-game bans this midweek.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I brought Larsson in as a punt for their fixtures and DGW in my WC last week but am starting to think it was a bad decision already.

Is it worth keeping hold of him until after the DGW or should I just cost my losses now?

Thinking about Fellaini>Sess for short term both have same value as got Fellaini in at 7.0, however if i get Fellaini back after which i most likely will i will be losing a valueable 0.3 from my budget

    Begovic (Begovic)

    Rafael, Caulker, Cuellar (Demel, Nelsen)

    Bale, Mata, Fellaini, Michu (Sterling)

Van Persie (C), Suarez (VC), Berbatov.

Realistically most Midfields will be comprised of the following players

Big hitters: Bale Silva Mata Cazorla Walcott
    Buget mids: Fellaini Michu Nolan
    5th mid: Sterling Puncheon

Every team needs at least 1 budget mid, and a cheap 5th mid and thats not such a difficult choice. But I find it very difficult to make my mind up when it comes to the big hitters and stick with that choice over the season. Part of you has to for the financial gains but the freedom to move them in and out according to fixtures is also great.

At the moment i have Bale Silva Mata but really want Arsenal coverage. Which one am i supposed to sacrifice!

Would you need the extra money for anything important? They're from the same team, so Rotation's not a factor and i wouldn't mind benching Ramirez if you had to in a game, even though he does cost 6m. Nobodies unbenchable. Just think Ramirez is the better fpl player and will prove it over the season, think he's capable of bigger individual hauls than Puncheon

Thanks for all the answers, great food for thought. I think I might get Sess now, since NOR and liv might not be so high scoring for SOT anyway. The Puncheon Price rise was really pushing my buttons and made me rush my decision.

    b. Short term Ba -> Rooney

North Easts going to be getting a "months worth of rain in a day" apparently. I think it's more a problem of the safety of people going to the game rather than the pitch itself...certainly worth monitoring.

Ok have a front-line of Rvp, Ba and Berbatov at the moment. Have 1 FT and I want to replace Ba with someone 9.7 or under, don't want to take a hit.

    A) Defoe (have Bale already)

    B) Long

    C) Other

Who to Captain from these players?

Mata, Silva, Fellaini, Suarez Or RVP.. I thought about Captaining Suarez but I don't think liverpool will do goot at WHL... So i think i'll go with Mata.

What do you think of my method of choosing a captain:

(Points per game+form)/2 times this by a number between 0.5 and 1.5 depending how good the fixture is. Times this by the players chance of playing. This has got the following numbers for a few players. Doing this my top 5 captain picks for this gw are:

    Tevez (7.8)
    Fellaini (7)
    Fletcher (6.6)
    Bale (6)
    Suarez (5.6)

RVP would be up there if I didnt think he had a slight rotation risk. Obviously this is just a base for thinking and common sense is also needed.

I gave RVP a 75% chance of playing. So I timesed his figure by 0.75 and it came just under Suarez. For the record I gave Tevez a 90% chance and everyone else 100%

By saying playing you probably mean starting. But I see they way you think.. On think to considerate also is that Fellaini didn't play last gameweek. But no idea how you would calculate that 🙂
