A couple of midfield protagonists are set to sit on the sidelines after accruing their fifth booking of the season last weekend. Paul Scholes and Mark Noble will both miss out as West Ham travel to Old Trafford on Wednesday evening, with the latter’s absence particularly sore for his side, given he has started every league game so far for the Hammers.

The tightrope welcomes two new contenders after the weekend’s round of matches. Cheick Tiote may have been injured for much of the season but his penchant for picking up yellows remains unquenched – the Ivorian’s caution at St Mary’s yesterday take his tally to four yellows in all competitions ahead of Newcastle’s trip to Stoke on Wednesday. Wigan’s James McArthur fell foul of the ref in his side’s 3-2 win over Reading on Saturday and now balances precariously as the Latics prepare to welcome City to the DW.

Luis Suarez and Michu continue to avoid that fifth yellow which would earn them an automatic ban. With three strong home games in the next five, Suarez looks primed for significant Fantasy attention once again; his owners will be crossing their fingers he stays out of the ref’s notebook against Spurs on Wednesday, bearing in mind he then plays host to Southampton at the weekend.

Those players on four yellows have until New Year until the five-card amnesty kicks in. Basically, if they can avoid another booking in this calendar year, they will then be exempt from the customary one-match ban and receive no more than a warning regarding their future conduct. The limit then moves to 10 yellows, which would earn the guilty party a two-match ban. Most culpable so far are Ahmed El Ahmadi, Craig Gardner and Angel Rangel, who lead the way on six yellow cards apiece.

Having served out a one-match ban in Everton’s draw with Norwich, Marouane Fellaini is available for selection as the Toffees host Arsenal, while Fabricio Coloccini will be welcomed back by Alan Pardew as injury-hit Newcastle make their way to Stoke.

Brede Hangeland and Emmanuel Adebayor are both set to skip the second match of their respective three-game bans this midweek.

    Clyne or Sterling first sub?

Looking at getting rid of RVP...and then realized there isn't anyone else I feel comfortable with filling that striker spot. (Suarez? PLEASE. He's still on Liverpool... 😉 )

Suarez is going to score a lot more goals this season but I wouldn't have him over RVP.

Keep RVP, he will come good 😉

Agreed. And I'm NOT getting rid of Aguero for Suarez....perish the thought! I could do Hazard>Anderson and Berba>Suarez...what think ye, Viper? Also...play Baines, Clyne, cuellar.

I don't think Suarez will score that many more than Berbatov to justify the additional price.

          Talking £3million.

Suarez has had 77 shots with 22 on target this season, which is why he's generally not had the bonus (I believe the Chelsea and Newcastle games he had few chances which is why he got the 3 in each of those games).

Hazard -> Anderson? Absolutely not in a million years! I'd prefer Puncheon if I had to do that!

Is that from the question I asked before? Clyne over Cameron?hmmm Stoke's CS is just so good at home and Newcastle were so toothless vs Southampton!

It is, I went to run the copier for a bit and have only made it back, sorry, delayed response to your question! Yeah, I have loved Clyne's assist returns over the past few weeks...Cameron is a good shout too, but Newcastle can still produce when they 'feel' like it. However, I'm spreading my odds and playing Bego in goal, which gives me stoke cover as well as the ability to play Clyne. lulz.

Stats, Stats and more Stats, Garg. And that Arsenal are one of the few teams in the league who will score 5+ goals in a game 5+ times in a season. And that Giroud is the central striker for that team - who loves shooting (regardless of ability) - with barely any competition to speak of.

Another reason why I got Sess in for Michu:

I have Michu, Mata and Punch in my team. A Suarez move is also in the cards.
Michu is on 4 yellows + Mata and Punch will get blanks in GW17.

If they all miss GW17, I'll have 8 players left to play. Razor thin ice.

It's basically a safety measure. Plus Tinkerman supplied an interesting Michu stat: a total of 3 shots in the box during the last 4 games. That's awful.

    GO SESSEGNON! Make me proud.

You'd need balls for brains to Captain Nicky Shorey - even if he was playing for Man Utd.

    Afternoon good folk!

Just got a quick question I'm hoping you can help me with.

If you had the choice, money no object, taking into account form and fixtures, what are the better duo to have?

    A) Garrido & Mata

    B) Shorey & Bale.

Any help much appriciated. Cheers, fellas.

    Bale Cazorla Mata Puncheon (Sterling)
    Rvp Ba Tevez

    2.9 in bank

    A) Throw caution to the wind and do Ba to Suarez tonight? Leaves 0.5 in the bank to upgrade Demel
    B) Save transfer this week and check if Suarez gets his ban and then do Ba to Suarez OR Tevez to Aguero depending on how things go
