Four games kicking off. Three Derby’s taking place up and down the country. Two of them at the nice early hour of Noon GMT. While one so far invincible side finish the gameweek off with one of their new pretenders to the throne looking to make a statement of intent.

We’ve got it all today; and we’re starting with Birmingham vs. Aston Villa and Sunderland vs. Newcastle with the Dugout Discussion already opening its doors for one and all looking for their Sunday fix…

Sunderland XI: Gordon; Onuoha, Bramble, Ferdinand, Bardsley; Elmohamady, Henderson, Richardson, Malbranque; Gyan, Bent.

Newcastle XI: Harper; Simpson, Coloccini, Williamson, Jose Enrique; Barton, Nolan, Smith, Gutierrez; Best, Ameobi.

Sunderland welcome Nedum Onuoha back into the fray but must still see captain Lee Cattermole and Danny Welbeck on the injury list and unable to make their appearances. Newcastle may have to make do without star striker Andy Carroll this weekend but Shola Ameobi is fit enough to return to the fore and pushing Peter Lovenkrands back to the bench, Jose Enrique also recovers from the flu which previously had him on the sidelines.

Birmingham XI: Foster; Carr, Johnson, Ridgewell, Murphy; Bentley, Ferguson, Gardner, Fahey; Hleb: Derbyshire.

Aston Villa: Friedel, Clark, Dunne, Collins, Walker, Albrighton, Petrov, Reo-Coker, Downing, Carew, Agbonlahor.

Birmingham make a handful of changes as Daryl Murphy comes in for the injured Scott Dann, David Bentley makes his Blues debut with Seb Larsson, rumoured to be joining Newcastle imminently, nowhere to be seen. Matt Derbyshire is rewarded with a role leading the line in place of Cameron Jerome following his FA Cup exploits. Aston Villa meanwhile give a league debut to [potential Fantasy Premier League £4.0m bargain] Kyle Walker as well as calling Marc Albrighton and John Carew into the side once more while Ashley Young sits out suspended.

Only thing left is to wipe the sleep away from our eyes and take in six straight hours of Premier League action.

Sorry - this was in the previous thread.

    I asked:
Which are the two games that one of which could be postponed depending on who is playing in the Carling Cup final?

    Reply - donners says:
    Ars v Tot GW 28

    Reply Perthite says:
Thanks. I thought there was something like one of the Birmingham GW27 games (v Everton?) or a West Ham game around that time.
    (depending on who makes final)

Anyone able to confirm/shoot down in flames my vague memory?

      GW28
      Arsenal v Spurs (likely to be rescheduled for midweek);
      Chelsea v Birmingham (Almost definitely won't be rescheduled that week);
West Ham v Liverpool (Could be rescheduled for midweek)

Everton v Birmingham in GW27 will also move to GW29.

[Bold team has to make final to affect the schedule]

ive come to the conclusion spending lots in defence is a waste, you can't rely on anyone for a clean sheet anymore, but in midfield and attack you can normally expect a player to bag a few goals.

I don't think you'll slip in overall rankings with that team, but seeing as how your choices are the smart, on-form (and therefore 'obvious') choices, I'm wondering if you have the differential(s) to jump substantially higher.

Just a thought for you ...

thinking nzogbia (6.7%) is a decent differential for the double, aswell as rvp (4.8%).

I may sell nasri and not have any arsenal midfield due to rvp possibly sweeping the attacking points for arsenal, so might get yaya toure and do adam to cahill when he returns.

            Any tips for the defence?

You might have a shout there. They are really inconsistent with stuff like that though, but honestly mailing them seems to have an effect - I remember Bale doing something controversial and as he was owned by so many people (a proportion of which must have complained) the decision was reversed in Bales favour.

I've not e-mailed them often but perhaps 3 times with questions about dubious assists and they've always given me their interpretation of the situations.

Bentleys FPL potential is massively affected by whether Larsson (who I think is a much better player) stays at Birmingham or not. If he goes then Bentley could be worth a punt, if not, not.

You'd be better off getting Foster and two Birmingham defenders if you know what I'm saying. Going forward...well...do they go forward?

They do go forward but they dont score nearly enough. They had one decent chance in 1st half and derbyshire fluffed it completely!

Hleb seems to have written into his contract that he should always pass when in a scoring opportunity. He has got to be one of the most infuriating players to watch ever.

Haha. Hleb's style doesn't work well for Birmingham if I'm honest with you. I hope he does come good because I rate him as a player, you don't get to play for Arsenal and Barcelona in your career if you don't have something about you. Saying that, you can't rest on your laurels and he needs to stop complaining about Birmingham's style and use his experience to find a way to cope with it.

Hi All, can I have any comments or advice on my team for the next gameweek please?

    Foster (Carson)
    Vidic, Baines, Bardsley (Foley, Williamson)
VDV, Nani (c), Dempsey, Adam, Fabs
    Torres, Berbs (Carroll)

    Cheers in advance

Get rid of Carson. Dire, dire 'keeper and has been dropped, so should anything happen to Foster you won't have a goalie!

I think Pienaar's overrated. Just don't understand why he so sought-after or why he thinks he can throw his weight around at a club like Everton.

Well played Scout picks! I nearly doubled up on Bham with Foster and Roger Johnson as you said he was due a goal. But instead I went with Djourou. Of course it's too early to say if they will get clean sheets as well.

Maybe I should have gotten Kelly instead of Skrtel. It looks like his place is cemented. I thought that GJohnson would be preferred and Aurelio would play LB. But GJ playing lb? lollll.
