Norwich City’s Robert Snodgrass tops our ICT Index rankings going into the final two matches of Gameweek 16. With Wigan’s James McCarthy and Swansea’s Jonathan De Guzman keeping Michu company in the top four, our rankings have an unfamiliar look about them as the dust settles on 48-hours of action. All the statistics behind our ICT Index can be examined in full in the members area and, as usual, we put the weekend to bed with our selection of the eye-catching figures on show…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Bale and Fellaini appear to be season keepers. I wouldn't look to sell either of them unless there's a long term injury. I'd just hold for now.

You do need one of RVP or Rooney for sure. Not sure selling the likes of Bale is the way to go though.

You must have a really bad TV. Rooney is the one for you in this situation. Perhaps downgrade Sterling to Puncheon and look to upgrade Tevez to Rooney.

    Hey folks

I have 1 FT and £1.9m in the bank.

    Begovic, Ruddy

    Evans, Enrique, Demel, Cuellar, Gorkks

    Sessegnon, Michu, Bale, Fellaini, Sterling

    RVP, Aguero, Fletcher

Thinking of doing a -4 bringing in Suarez and Clark for Fletcher and Evans?

    Thoughts please?
    Thank you

what's best downgrading to get 0.9M for Rooney transfer ?

    Begovic / Foster
Rafael / Jose Enrique / Nelsen / Cuellar / Demel
    Nolan / Mata / Puncheon / Fellaini / Sessegnon
Suarez / Rooney / Van Persie

    I'm considering
    A. Foster --> Bunn (will play Begovic every week til WC)
    B. Enrique --> 4M defender
    C. Others

saying something like you need one of "rvp or rooney" doesn't make sense. the statement disproves itself. if they're good value and score an essential amount of points, you need them both (ala messi, ronaldo). if they don't, you dont "need" either.

saying you need "one of" them just proves that you're not shure whether to have one or not but you're afraid to be without.

doubling up is a myth as is coverage. it doesnt matter if you get 20, 4, 20, 4 points from your 2 forwards from a same team or 12, 12, 12, 12 points from your forwards from different teams during 4 GWs for example.

The logic behind not doubling up and coverage is similar but they aren't exactly the same IMO.

Plus it does matter if you get more points from one striker as you can captain him.

reasonable maybe but im saying there's no logic in such statement.

thats true in a situation where your other 14 players are optimal and you have the money to choose from both of them.

but even in that case they would be far from essential because you choose not to have them both but set up the rest of the team first and only leave one spot left for them.

I agree with you. It is impossible to know which one is going to do better.

If one does well and the other does badly - you might get the wrong one
If both do well - You could've got both
If both do badly - You shouldn't have got either

I hate thinking about this game in terms of which teams you've got 'covered'

I also hate the notion of not doubling up.

Why not have more players from a team with better fixtures and vice versa?

Well I'm very much on the other side of the fence with this argument. But I respect there are two sides to any debate and each can have their own very reasonable points but I would stop short of saying one is right and the other is wrong.

          Could you explain why?

I know people don't like doubling up because when that team loses 2-0 they will get a bad score.

Simarly, though, when that team wins 4-0 they might absolutely kill that GW.

So doubling up increases the variance, yes, but not really the overall expectation. In the long run, I'd argue the expecatition goes up if you consistently have a team of players with easy fixtures (even if they are from a smaller pool of teams)...

So basically I'd say unless H2H games are your priority, doubling or even tripling up is always an option.

Now please explain your opposite stance.

First you must realise there are two points and they are different. the notion of doubling up and the notion of coverage. I will start with coverage

I think its important to have United cover at the moment because they are cleaning up and doing well. Many can't afford to have both RVP and Rooney so one of them may suffice. Then you have at least one guy who has a very good chance to be amongst the goals/assists. Getting players with a high involvement rate increases your chances. Ba/Suarez and Michu for example are involved in roughly half the teams goals so they are always likely to be amongst the points if the team does well

Yes - If you think united are going to do very well, I agree you should have united coverage.

What I don't agree are the following:

A: You should have coverage of a certain team because they're a big team (even if theyre not doing well/ don't have good fixtures) which we hear a lot on this board

B: You shouldn't have 'too much' coverage (i.e. don't double or triple)

Example... You say right now we should have uniteed coverage. I agree. But in that case, why not both rooney and rvp?

As for players like michu, I agree but I don't know how that is connected.

I agree with you on point A: I have no city cover for example and its almost impossible to get cover from anyone just go with form/fixtures, standard stuff really.

                B) is another discussion as doubling up is a slightly different thing entirely see my other post below

Players like Michu makes is all about coverage of players who are 'likely' to be involved in the goals for that given team. This is based on their percentage involvement of the teams goals. This is very important.

i think ba, suarez and michu are all great options but it has nothing to do with coverage. they are players with good underlying stats and have produced points also. for me they are indivuduals, not coverage.

people had shitty fpl-players like kagawa in their team for coverage sake. i give myself the luxury of not having the need for ManU, City players for example if do not compare with other options. many people seem to start building their team with coverage from ManU, City etc.. wrong way to go imo.

See I agree with you that Kags is bad cover for United. Its important to only consider players who are 'likely' to be involved in the goals based on the stats.

            Doubling/tripling up

The main thing I would have against the idea would be 'eggs and baskets' as you described. I think you have to realise that we play this game on a week to week basis and if a team you've doubled up on doesn't do as well as expected your rank suffers and you may be more inclined to rashly transfer out one of those players.

So if United dropped in their attacking output somewhat and started only scoring a goal or two a game one would be very fidgety regarding having spent so much on a Rooney and RVP forward line. Likewise if Stoke started to look a little less staunch at the back many doublers of their defense would rightfully get worried and seek an out solution.

Currently I have double Stoke at the back but the relative low cost and their clear dominance at the back makes it a low risk option. Tougher upcoming fixtures though may cause me to sell on Cameron.

Playing it 'on a week to week basis' is exactly what my problem is.

Nobody cares what your rank was in gw13 or 27. The final scorecome GW38 is the only incentive IMO.

I agree you have a point if a team drops form and you have a lot of their players. I am also not against taking hits for a long term improvement if this is the case. Even so, I don't think form changes so suddenly that you'd feel the need to get both players out in one GW.

Yep its just we can never see the bigger picture we only see the week to week thing and our reactions to situations are only based on that. Its a handicap we will have to live with. We will get angry if things don't work out and kneejerk when perhaps we could have been more patient.

exactly. imo you should always think fpl-players as individuals and ignore the team they play for.

for example, many of us realise stoke are a good defensive team. BUT majority have begovic and not shawcross who has now outscored baines. if shawcross got those points for any other team than stoke people would have had him already for 'coverage'. but because of begovic we have left him alone.

    begovic (mannone)
    rafael enrique demel (davies cueller)
    michu cazorla fellaini sterling (sess)
    berba rvp fletcher

Have 1FT and 4m in the bank..So here are my options:
A: Fletch >> suarez (but then will have 3 lpool players)
B: Fletch >> torres (but chelski have a blank)
C: Fletch >> tevez (rotation risk)
D: Enrique >> baines/johnson (if enrique is injured...my back up defense is crap since davies and cueller playing spurs and united away

Despite 2 new goals, Michu got no bps this GW, and despite beeing the top scorer in FPL and EPL, only got 10 bps so far this year.

Michu's definitely not in the administrator's own FPL teams.

He shouldn't. Just because he is in your team does not give him that divine right.

Holt, Snodgrass and Bassong all contributed vital goals/assists to win their team an away match. Michu scored two consolation goals effectively. If they'd been the two winning goals then fair enough. But in this case, Norwich deserved all the baps.

It's not a question of right or wrong. This is a game with rules. Knowing the rules and using them to your advantage is part of the skill. Understanding that PPI suffers with off target shots should encourage us to buy players with accurate shooting. Michu is a great player, but not a friend of PPI. Other players benefit from PPI. Use that information to your advantage.

I'm pondering the same. I have ruled out Ba because Newcastle are missing a lot of key players and the 4-3-3 doesn't suit him.

Berba, well, tough 2-3 fixtures coming up. Ruiz is out on the sidelines, who gets the best out of Berba.

It's Defoe vs Giroud. Do you think AVB will play him alongside Ade again?
