Norwich City’s Robert Snodgrass tops our ICT Index rankings going into the final two matches of Gameweek 16. With Wigan’s James McCarthy and Swansea’s Jonathan De Guzman keeping Michu company in the top four, our rankings have an unfamiliar look about them as the dust settles on 48-hours of action. All the statistics behind our ICT Index can be examined in full in the members area and, as usual, we put the weekend to bed with our selection of the eye-catching figures on show…
For the festive period,
(A)Bale to Snodgrass so i can do Ba - Rooney, yay or nay?
As season keeper
(B) Bale or Fellaini ?Open ControlsBale and Fellaini appear to be season keepers. I wouldn't look to sell either of them unless there's a long term injury. I'd just hold for now.
Open ControlsYou do need one of RVP or Rooney for sure. Not sure selling the likes of Bale is the way to go though.
Open ControlsAppreciate if you can point out which is the way,
here is my team
Bego - Ruddy
ShawX - Clyne- McAuley - Cuellar- Shorey
Mata- Afro- Bale- Michu- Sterling
Tevez- Suarez- Ba
Thanks in advance 😀Open Controls
Enrique out Johnson in? Thoughts?
Open ControlsIf u have FT to spare than yes
Open ControlsI do, think it could pay off especially when all my rivals have Enrique
Open Controls
Too soon imo. Enrique was just taken off as a precaution. It would be far too kneejerky and sideways to sell him for GJ
Open ControlsThis. It might turn out to be a good move if Enrique is rotated but it's a waste of a FT at the moment IMO.
Open Controls
Hey folks
I have 1 FT and £1.9m in the bank.
Begovic, Ruddy
Evans, Enrique, Demel, Cuellar, Gorkks
Sessegnon, Michu, Bale, Fellaini, Sterling
RVP, Aguero, Fletcher
Thinking of doing a -4 bringing in Suarez and Clark for Fletcher and Evans?
Thoughts please?
Thank youOpen Controls5 shots off target, 2 on target and 1 blocked.
Open Controls
Anyone thinking on Dempsey or Gerrard with both Bale and Mata not playing next week?
Open ControlsNo way. I'd rather just stick it out for a week then get Mata and Bale next week instead
Open ControlsThanks Mate. I had Bale and will bring him back in when he's fit and don't have Mata as yet. Didn't explain very well 🙂 I have Fellaini, Michu, Sess, Silva and Sterling. You reckon Demps or Gerrard a better option than one of those? Cheers.
Open Controls
what's best downgrading to get 0.9M for Rooney transfer ?
Begovic / Foster
Rafael / Jose Enrique / Nelsen / Cuellar / Demel
Nolan / Mata / Puncheon / Fellaini / Sessegnon
Suarez / Rooney / Van Persie
I'm considering
A. Foster --> Bunn (will play Begovic every week til WC)
B. Enrique --> 4M defender
C. OthersOpen ControlsYou need Michu.
Open ControlsI don't agree with the logic of having both RVP and Rooney but because you insist I'd go with option B) If it works downgrading Sess could be another option as well
Open Controls6.5M if I do it, any good midfielder at that price in next games?
Open Controls
Rooney and RVP overkill IMO. But good luck with that!
Open ControlsB. Get Shorey
Open Controls
Doctor X, sorry I was away for a bit so missed your question. Berbilly answered it correctly. if you want more details, check the rules here: http://uefacouncil.wordpress.com/league-rules/

Open ControlsThanks for the feedback!
Seems like GJ is the most popular choice.Open Controls
Do you think Fletcher will play tomorrow ? If not, i have Sterling on the bench with 5 pts
Open ControlsYeah he will play some part. It's a BIG game for Sun... and Rea!
Open Controls
saying something like you need one of "rvp or rooney" doesn't make sense. the statement disproves itself. if they're good value and score an essential amount of points, you need them both (ala messi, ronaldo). if they don't, you dont "need" either.
saying you need "one of" them just proves that you're not shure whether to have one or not but you're afraid to be without.Open ControlsEh? what if they are both scoring well. Then surely its ok to say you want one of them to get in on the action?
Open Controlswhy don't you want them both then?
Open ControlsDon't want to double up on United? Takes up 2 precious forward spots?
Open Controlsdoubling up is a myth as is coverage. it doesnt matter if you get 20, 4, 20, 4 points from your 2 forwards from a same team or 12, 12, 12, 12 points from your forwards from different teams during 4 GWs for example.
Open ControlsThe logic behind not doubling up and coverage is similar but they aren't exactly the same IMO.
Plus it does matter if you get more points from one striker as you can captain him.Open Controls
Sure both is an option but thats an entirely different argument. Its certainly reasonable to say you want one of them
Open Controlsreasonable maybe but im saying there's no logic in such statement.
imo whether you need both, you dont need either OR you need a certain player. you can't say you need "one of"Open ControlsYou might need one of them if they are both cleaning up but you can only afford one of them? Is that then not a fair time to make such a statement.
Open Controlsthats true in a situation where your other 14 players are optimal and you have the money to choose from both of them.
but even in that case they would be far from essential because you choose not to have them both but set up the rest of the team first and only leave one spot left for them.Open Controls
i need neither. either, or. i don't know why i'm rhyming for, but if my structure start to wobble i will cobble new decor. nah. pre-empt the collapse. neither you require
Open ControlsI agree with you. It is impossible to know which one is going to do better.
If one does well and the other does badly - you might get the wrong one
If both do well - You could've got both
If both do badly - You shouldn't have got either
I hate thinking about this game in terms of which teams you've got 'covered'
I also hate the notion of not doubling up.
Why not have more players from a team with better fixtures and vice versa?Open ControlsWell I'm very much on the other side of the fence with this argument. But I respect there are two sides to any debate and each can have their own very reasonable points but I would stop short of saying one is right and the other is wrong.
Open ControlsCould you explain why?
I know people don't like doubling up because when that team loses 2-0 they will get a bad score.
Simarly, though, when that team wins 4-0 they might absolutely kill that GW.
So doubling up increases the variance, yes, but not really the overall expectation. In the long run, I'd argue the expecatition goes up if you consistently have a team of players with easy fixtures (even if they are from a smaller pool of teams)...
So basically I'd say unless H2H games are your priority, doubling or even tripling up is always an option.
Now please explain your opposite stance.Open ControlsFirst you must realise there are two points and they are different. the notion of doubling up and the notion of coverage. I will start with coverage
I think its important to have United cover at the moment because they are cleaning up and doing well. Many can't afford to have both RVP and Rooney so one of them may suffice. Then you have at least one guy who has a very good chance to be amongst the goals/assists. Getting players with a high involvement rate increases your chances. Ba/Suarez and Michu for example are involved in roughly half the teams goals so they are always likely to be amongst the points if the team does wellOpen ControlsYes - If you think united are going to do very well, I agree you should have united coverage.
What I don't agree are the following:
A: You should have coverage of a certain team because they're a big team (even if theyre not doing well/ don't have good fixtures) which we hear a lot on this board
B: You shouldn't have 'too much' coverage (i.e. don't double or triple)
Example... You say right now we should have uniteed coverage. I agree. But in that case, why not both rooney and rvp?
As for players like michu, I agree but I don't know how that is connected.Open ControlsI agree with you on point A: I have no city cover for example and its almost impossible to get cover from anyone just go with form/fixtures, standard stuff really.
B) is another discussion as doubling up is a slightly different thing entirely see my other post below
Players like Michu makes is all about coverage of players who are 'likely' to be involved in the goals for that given team. This is based on their percentage involvement of the teams goals. This is very important.Open Controls
i think ba, suarez and michu are all great options but it has nothing to do with coverage. they are players with good underlying stats and have produced points also. for me they are indivuduals, not coverage.
people had shitty fpl-players like kagawa in their team for coverage sake. i give myself the luxury of not having the need for ManU, City players for example if do not compare with other options. many people seem to start building their team with coverage from ManU, City etc.. wrong way to go imo.Open Controls
Doubling/tripling up
The main thing I would have against the idea would be 'eggs and baskets' as you described. I think you have to realise that we play this game on a week to week basis and if a team you've doubled up on doesn't do as well as expected your rank suffers and you may be more inclined to rashly transfer out one of those players.
So if United dropped in their attacking output somewhat and started only scoring a goal or two a game one would be very fidgety regarding having spent so much on a Rooney and RVP forward line. Likewise if Stoke started to look a little less staunch at the back many doublers of their defense would rightfully get worried and seek an out solution.Open ControlsCurrently I have double Stoke at the back but the relative low cost and their clear dominance at the back makes it a low risk option. Tougher upcoming fixtures though may cause me to sell on Cameron.
Open Controlsgotta go now anyway - interesting debate - I will come back and read it later if you add more!
Open Controls
Playing it 'on a week to week basis' is exactly what my problem is.
Nobody cares what your rank was in gw13 or 27. The final scorecome GW38 is the only incentive IMO.
I agree you have a point if a team drops form and you have a lot of their players. I am also not against taking hits for a long term improvement if this is the case. Even so, I don't think form changes so suddenly that you'd feel the need to get both players out in one GW.Open ControlsYep its just we can never see the bigger picture we only see the week to week thing and our reactions to situations are only based on that. Its a handicap we will have to live with. We will get angry if things don't work out and kneejerk when perhaps we could have been more patient.
Open Controls
exactly. imo you should always think fpl-players as individuals and ignore the team they play for.
for example, many of us realise stoke are a good defensive team. BUT majority have begovic and not shawcross who has now outscored baines. if shawcross got those points for any other team than stoke people would have had him already for 'coverage'. but because of begovic we have left him alone.Open Controls
This is true. Listen to CS.

What does everyone think of Giroud? Tasty fixtures coming up. He seemed like he has adapted to the league now. Cazorla the only other nailed nailed on player in the team now, and I don't think he scores enough to warrant his price tag.
Thoughts?Open Controls'What does everyone think of Giroud? Tasty fixtures coming up. He seemed like he has adapted to the league now.'
same said some weeks ago. and...Open ControlsI'd look at the form over the fixtures. If you think he's been playing well and constantly threatening, then get him in for the good fixtures.
Open ControlsArsenal seem very unsettled. Until they figure out player roles, I would steer clear of Giroud.
Open ControlsI think you are right.

So, have a few dillemmas. my team for coming gw:
begovic (mannone)
rafael enrique demel (davies cueller)
michu cazorla fellaini sterling (sess)
berba rvp fletcher
Have 1FT and 4m in the bank..So here are my options:
A: Fletch >> suarez (but then will have 3 lpool players)
B: Fletch >> torres (but chelski have a blank)
C: Fletch >> tevez (rotation risk)
D: Enrique >> baines/johnson (if enrique is injured...my back up defense is crap since davies and cueller playing spurs and united away
Please adivse...any other options welcomeOpen Controlsalright guys i'm off to do some homework then to get some sleep. for anyone that said they would be interested in participating in the council leagues make sure you follow our site so you get email notification when we post. and expect an announcement for registration opening within the next 24 hours or so

Despite 2 new goals, Michu got no bps this GW, and despite beeing the top scorer in FPL and EPL, only got 10 bps so far this year.
Michu's definitely not in the administrator's own FPL teams.
Who do we think are in their teams?Open ControlsI have made a Crazy decition ! I have brought in Rooney and Torres alongside Rvp lol
Begovic ruddy
Rafael shawx cuellar haangaland fonte
Sterling fellaini Michu Cazorla puncheon
Rvp Rooney Torres !
Think it might jus pay off ! Captain headache every week though lol ! Thoughts ?Open ControlsGreat (and bold) move. The kind that could make your season.

The bonus ppi rule formula for shots off target isnt right. Messi once In again scored 4 goals in a game and had 18 shots 11 off target. So that would mean he would have got no bonus points. Hows that right?
Open ControlsPreaching to the choir.
Open ControlsIt's a load of pants ! Michu should get bonus points
Open ControlsHe shouldn't. Just because he is in your team does not give him that divine right.
Holt, Snodgrass and Bassong all contributed vital goals/assists to win their team an away match. Michu scored two consolation goals effectively. If they'd been the two winning goals then fair enough. But in this case, Norwich deserved all the baps.Open ControlsWhether their winning goals or not doesn't affect whether the player gets bonus points so that's not relevant here.
Open Controls
It's not a question of right or wrong. This is a game with rules. Knowing the rules and using them to your advantage is part of the skill. Understanding that PPI suffers with off target shots should encourage us to buy players with accurate shooting. Michu is a great player, but not a friend of PPI. Other players benefit from PPI. Use that information to your advantage.

How much will bale fall to before playing again? 9.4?

Giroud worth 8.5mn given the run of fixtures coming up or Ba,Berba & Defoe are better value??
Open ControlsI'm pondering the same. I have ruled out Ba because Newcastle are missing a lot of key players and the 4-3-3 doesn't suit him.
Berba, well, tough 2-3 fixtures coming up. Ruiz is out on the sidelines, who gets the best out of Berba.
It's Defoe vs Giroud. Do you think AVB will play him alongside Ade again?Open ControlsI think so since bale is out. I was even considering a punt on ade. Some good fixtures coming for spurs. Giroud though is not very reliable but fixtures suggest otherwise.
Open Controls
Don't rate Giroud without Walcott myself.
Ba has bad fixtures and is lacking Cabaye and Barfa.
Berba needs to man up and get some goals asap.
Defoe has rotation risk but his form is solid.Open ControlsHaha so what do you reckon? Who's is the best option until Jan WC?? 😛
Open Controls
Best replacement for Cuellar?
Other defenders are Gibbs, Enrique, Clyne and Nelsen. I'm thinking Caulker?Open ControlsNastasic or Shorey

Hey guys overall thoughts on my team appreciated-
bego/tremmel
rafael/baines/cameron (baird/McCartney)
sterling/mata/sess/michu(morrison WBA)

I think I need to drop the double stoke defence and baird+McCartney need to be xfered.
I have two free.
