634x258 The Stock Check

A Hugo Rodallega header earns Martin Jol’s side the points and condemns Newcastle to their fifth defeat in six games. Here’s the Stock Check on Monday night’s events…

On the Up

Damien Duff
A brace of assists took the reliable winger to five for the season and made Duff Fulham’s leading Fantasy Premier League points scorer. Duff has been rotated in and out of Martin Jol’s lineup of late but demonstrated his worth and even hinted that, if the Cottagers can get back to goalscoring ways long term, he could present an option, particularly from Gameweeks 19-22 when Fulham face three favourable home fixtures in four.

Steve Sidwell
Another unsung hero in the Fulham ranks, Sidwell was a tireless performer and capped his display with a fourth goal of the season: a strong return for a 5.1 FPL midfielder. Having started the last six, his place seems secure and, like Duff, he could well present a differential for Fulham’s kind schedule from Boxing Day onwards.

Hatem Ben Arfa
The mercurial Frenchman made his return to the Newcastle lineup and reminded of his talents with an equalising goal: his first strike in the league since Gameweek 3. Investment in Ben Arfa looks unlikely given Newcastle’s evil schedule but he’ll be a player expected to enjoy an upturn in 2013 and could yet come into the equation before the season ends.

Going Down

Dimitar Berbatov
The Bulgarian oozed class and was central to Fulham’s attacking ploys throughout; he also had opportunities to notch but the fact remains that Berbatov has now blanked in his last five league outings. With no goal, assist or bonus coming his way since his superb Gameweek 11 performance at the Emirates, it seems likely we’ll see continued sales. His price has dropped from 7.6 to 7.4 in the past two Gameweeks and the fidgeting and steady decline in ownership is likely to continue. Those that hold will be looking beyond the next two away matches and hoping for a change in fortune and, more significantly, a speedy return for Bryan Ruiz as Berbatov’s foil.

The Newcastle Defence
Despite the return of Fabricio Coloccini, Alan Pardew’s back four continued to leak goals: their only clean sheet in the last eleven matches has come against a Wigan side with 10-men for the majority of the match. Away from home, the Magpies have conceded twice in their last three trips. With Man City, United and Arsenal in their next four fixtures, it seems most unlikely that we’ll see an immediate turnaround in fortune.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Norwich 7 home games 4 clean sheets >50%
      Wigan 7 away games 4 blanks >50%

I'd say chance of CS >50%

Fletcher——-> Suarez or Rooney? Very confused.
    Already have RVP, Sterling, Enrique.
    Suarez:
    wont get rotated
    on most fks
    main man
    decent fixtures

    Rooney:
Might miss a game over the next six
    red hot form
on pens as well as most fks
    Better fixtures
Utd scoring for fun this season

your team looks solid taking away the defense, why transfer out Demel as Hammers are good back and I would have swap Cuellar-ShawX as he gets bps more often and is solid at back also Rafael could be another option..I think u have that cash to bring in Bale after he is fit, if thats the case then I would suggest any Nor defense as they will come handy in difficult fix

Last year, at the Stadium of Light, United won 1-0. After the match, TVs inside the stadium showed the City- QPR match. When City finally scored the winning goal, Sunderland fans celebrated and cheered for City.
Rooney said after the match that he would never forget this and he do want to revenge Sunderland. Also, Rooney admitted that when the schedule came out, he first checked when United will face Sunderland at the first place even before checking the match days against the likes of City, Chelsea etc.

Sunderland fans who were cheering for City, remember the day. We won't forget that. I am telling you According to Rooney.

So, Should I bring in Rooney and (C) him? As a united fans, Rooney surely wants to revenge and he would want to score against Sunderland for sure as we all know who Rooney is like. He is clearly in form as well. 😆

    Rooney vs RVP.

With Rooney being cheaper, on pens, most free's and corner, and in better form, if someone could explain why RVP over Rooney I'd like to hear it.

Only think I can think of is RVP furthest forward most of the time...

You can't say Rooney's on FKs and CKs as RVP is on just as many...

RVP will always be leading the line. The same cannot be said of Rooney who may play in midfield or on the wing. Having said that I think Rooney is a decent option, especially on form.

you know what though. the fact Rooney is clear first choice on pks and both are capable of scoring from run of play means Rooney is (for me) is clearly the better option at the moment considering he is 2.0 cheaper.

after yesterday's show, i strongly doubt if cisse will start the next couple of games
he's been really bad the last couple fo weeks and i think newcastle will go to 4-3-3 with ba in the middle and marveaux and hba on the sides (or obertan if hes fit)
this will make ba's appeal better

    Rafael,Shorey,Enrique,(Demel,Nelsen)
    Michu,Fellani,Santi Cazorla,Sterling,(Schniderlin)
    RVP,,Tevez,Fletcher

Those are words used by the journos.

          These are MON words

“Fletcher’s coming on a bit and he’s less sore than he was. But I wouldn’t be sure about tonight.

“He did a little bit of training yesterday with the physios and there’ll be a little bit again today. Obviously if Fletcher was fit, he’d give us a boost.

“But if it was going to cause irreparable damage, then it’s not something you’d want to do.”

Fingers crossed he does not play Granville, there is going to be some lucky VC out there otherwise. Guy in my mini league benched Shorey by mistake and played Rafael, then Captained Suarez by mistake with VC Michu.

Too many people with Michu (vc) and points on the bench which would really hurt.

If Fletcher's not fit and its 0-0 tonight I'll rack up a cool 27 points (Rafael comes off bench) pre bonus.

No doubling of RVP and Rooney. You can have one of the other. Right now Rooney is stealing the show.

Stay patient with RVP. He would keep scoring the occasional goal like he did with masterclass free kick against City

Alternatively I can get rid of that prick Suarez and rekindle the epic RVP/Rooney/Demba strikeforce. I'll never captain Luis again so he's not really worth it.

Im looking at this too. I think if you have RVP stay faithful. If your chasing a lead, then maybe RVP>Rooney could work out. Im not convinced about doubling up.

I disagree about doubling up. United score enough goals to justify it; Rooney/Valencia was gold last year, and whilst this is more expensive, it's affordable as my defence costs nothing and Michu/Fellaini are playing like 10 mil players.

Sometimes though I think I know I'm going to do something and just post it on here knowing I'll ignore people 😀

Fair enough hope it works out for you. Like I said I am tempted to do it too. With Berbatov>Rooney. Giving me Rooney Suarez RVP. Fed up with Berbatov, but everyone was giving good reasons to keep faith after last nights performance. I have 7.5 million in the bank, so like you say money is not the issue.

4 sub-million scores out of 5 and i've slipped from 4,000 to 19,000 in the world. Aaargh!

Trouble is, I really don't know what I'm doing wrong!

    Begovic/Jaaskalainen
    Enrique/Demel/Gorkss/Cuellar/Davies
    Mata/Michu/Fellaini/Nolan/Sterling
    RVP/Suarez/Giroud

Priorities for the chop: Gorkss, Demel, Cuellar, Nolan, Sterling and Giroud. Only 1 FT, but £1.9m in the bank. Will consider a 4-point hit this week although I've been careful this season. Any suggestions? MUCH APPRECIATED.

if you get your alternative captains right this makes rooney more lucrative, but it is a difficult game to play. Robert snodgrass has as many double figure scores as RVP.
