A Hugo Rodallega header earns Martin Jol’s side the points and condemns Newcastle to their fifth defeat in six games. Here’s the Stock Check on Monday night’s events…

On the Up

Damien Duff
A brace of assists took the reliable winger to five for the season and made Duff Fulham’s leading Fantasy Premier League points scorer. Duff has been rotated in and out of Martin Jol’s lineup of late but demonstrated his worth and even hinted that, if the Cottagers can get back to goalscoring ways long term, he could present an option, particularly from Gameweeks 19-22 when Fulham face three favourable home fixtures in four.

Steve Sidwell
Another unsung hero in the Fulham ranks, Sidwell was a tireless performer and capped his display with a fourth goal of the season: a strong return for a 5.1 FPL midfielder. Having started the last six, his place seems secure and, like Duff, he could well present a differential for Fulham’s kind schedule from Boxing Day onwards.

Hatem Ben Arfa
The mercurial Frenchman made his return to the Newcastle lineup and reminded of his talents with an equalising goal: his first strike in the league since Gameweek 3. Investment in Ben Arfa looks unlikely given Newcastle’s evil schedule but he’ll be a player expected to enjoy an upturn in 2013 and could yet come into the equation before the season ends.

Going Down

Dimitar Berbatov
The Bulgarian oozed class and was central to Fulham’s attacking ploys throughout; he also had opportunities to notch but the fact remains that Berbatov has now blanked in his last five league outings. With no goal, assist or bonus coming his way since his superb Gameweek 11 performance at the Emirates, it seems likely we’ll see continued sales. His price has dropped from 7.6 to 7.4 in the past two Gameweeks and the fidgeting and steady decline in ownership is likely to continue. Those that hold will be looking beyond the next two away matches and hoping for a change in fortune and, more significantly, a speedy return for Bryan Ruiz as Berbatov’s foil.

The Newcastle Defence
Despite the return of Fabricio Coloccini, Alan Pardew’s back four continued to leak goals: their only clean sheet in the last eleven matches has come against a Wigan side with 10-men for the majority of the match. Away from home, the Magpies have conceded twice in their last three trips. With Man City, United and Arsenal in their next four fixtures, it seems most unlikely that we’ll see an immediate turnaround in fortune.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

+1 so many better options really but surely he's gonna grab a few with the upcoming fixtures. I've got to get rid of him or Tevez this week. The fact that Tevez came on as a sub and did much better against Man U than Giroud did all game is worrying.

Hey Granville, not sure if you know much about creating tables in Members area, but if so is there any way I can save the table after I reorder the columns (i.e. drag them into the position I want them in). Every time i reorder them, the next time I go back to the table they've reverted to the original (which I think is justy alphabetical). Other peoples tables seem not to be ordered alphabeticval, so it seems possible, but I can't work it out. Any ideas?

You might just mention to mark, coz one of his tables has time played in the first column which is low down the alaphabetical list, so seems to be some way, unless Mark has extra special features us plebs don't get 😉

Hi Icon. The tables reorder when you modify them. If you complete a table and re-order columns they will remain in that order every time you view it. However, if you modify the table in anyway, then they will re-order. To change that would be huge amounts of restructuring on our part which we can't consider with the comments system the priority.

Cheers, so if i want it ordered the way i want, basically get it right first go and make no more modifications to it; or will this only have it ordered that way fro me and not for anyone else? No need to reply actually, i'll just have a mess around with it.

    Morning guys.

While watching the Fulham match last night, I realised that Berba is one of the few players I can watch and put FF to one side. It was a joy to watch him for 90 minutes, despite the fact that he only picked up 2 points. I was wondering, does everyone else have players like this? Or can people now only think in FF terms?

While watching Everton I have the same thing (I only really care about Everton winning).

Attack seems good, Mid is good as well but be careful of Bale, he might not play the next game and Puncheon has a blank GW. I'd change a couple of things in D and Goalie though, Szczesney out for Begovic (or maybe Foster but im not sure when hes gonna be back) Davies and Enrique are good (although i have Johnson over Enrique) Cameron of Stoke is good, and i dont think Gibbs is a good idea. Hope that helped

    Two questions.
Will Fletcher play tonight (I have Puncheon on the bench!)
Best replacement for Fletcher for next game week:
Defoe (in form, but if he doesn't score he's not an assist magnet!)
Tevez (preferred as longer term value)
Suarez (inconsistent and also a generally vile person)

Fletcher is doubtful to play tonight

Defoe has the form and fixtures
Suarez has scored once in 4 games
Tevez is subject to rotation if Mancini's not learnt his lessons

I did Fletcher to Suarez if it helps. I think Defoe and Tevez are both good options, but I'm just concerned about their playing time, (where is Adebayor going to fit in? Mancini will forgive Balotelli one again + Dzeko = more rotation for city forwards IMO.) Suarez is nailed-on, has the fixtures and is the focal point of Liverpool's attack.

Can anyone convince me that Defoe is nailed on and good 3rd striker option? I fell for the great Fletcher hoax and intended to swap Berba back in but fixtures look horrible as does his (fpl) form.

Gerrard is worth a punt for a couple of weeks but I'm looking to get Bale or Silva in at some point.

Couple of tables showing players who "should" be most rotation-proof for the festive period based on time played over last 6 gameweeks and a look at how there stats for the same period stack up.

Unfortunately this data cannot extrapolate this model where 2 or 3 league games are played in a week.

I'm in urgent need of help. My rank has dropped from 8,999 in GW 11 to 177,068 in GW 16.

I currently have the following team for GW 17:
    Begovic
    Caulker - Enrique - McAuley - Reid
    Sterling - Fellaini - Silva
    Suarez - Berbatov - RvP
    Subs: Foster, Shorey, Bale, Puncheon

1 FT and 1,5 mil in the bank.

I'm really tempted to bring in Michu, don't really know why I have waited this long. But who should I ditch? Silva has really good fixtures coming up, as has Bale.

Or should I focus on losing some of my Liverpool coverage?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
