Earlier this morning, Southampton’s official twitter feed were first to give Fantasy managers the heads-up of a potential double Gameweek 22. The Saints’ previously postponed trip to Chelsea – cancelled due to the latter’s World Club Championship involvement last month – has now been pencilled in for Wednesday January 16.

Whether the league clash takes place all depends on the result of tomorrow’s FA Cup Third Round match between the two clubs. If the game ends all square, the above-mentioned date will be utilised for a cup replay and the league match rescheduled for another, as yet unspecified, time – if either side win, the double Gameweek will take place.

The news now adds an unexpected twist to the winter wildcard scenario. We could now, potentially, have back-to-back double Gameweeks to plan for, bearing in mind Arsenal and West Ham have a double the following week.

Southampton also visit Villa in Gameweek 22 and, while Chelsea face a testing trip to Stoke, there’s no doubt the home clash at the Bridge looks enticing, in spite of the Blues’ surprise loss to QPR last Wednesday. Indeed, Rafa Benitez’s decision to hand Juan Mata and Eden Hazard brief second-half sub roles against Harry Redknapp’s side should ensure they both start tomorrow’s match – boosting the Blues’ chances of progress.

Demba Ba’s move to Stamford Bridge – confirmed at midday by the Blues – brings him immediately onto the radar. At this moment, Ba is still classified as a Newcastle player in Fantasy games, meaning managers could conceivably, have four Blues players for the double if they choose to load up on Benitez’s side – a very risky tactic, however, given we’ll be wanting Arsenal and West Ham options in our squads immediately afterwards. The likes of Ross Turnbull could also come into the equation, offering us a cut-price short-term keeper option if Petr Cech remains sidelined.

While nothing is set in stone yet, the news at least shakes up our tactics and offers plenty variety to our approaches – undoubtedly good news, given the many identikit RMWCT posts currently doing the rounds.

All eyes on St Mary’s tomorrow afternoon, then.

Hey guys, can you help me decide on a chelsea defender (cant afford Ivanovic). Way I see it:

Cole - steady performer, should rarely be rotated but lacks a goal threat
Luiz - currently OOP but will he get goals and always seems to be in danger of bookings/sending offs and rarely gets bonus points
Cahill - has the goal threat, but he seems to be the one most likely to be rotated

    What do people think?

I still have 2, but was planning on saving the other for another potential DGW further down the line

was looking at just Foster to Turnbull to give me 3 for GW22 and then use another FT GW23 to get an extra Arsenal or West Ham to give me 5 for that

Very horrible result. We are still in shock from the loss to the USA. I think our team chemistry was blown apart given the fact that we had actual NHL players participating. Did'nt have that youthful grit we are so well known for.

Not winning gold 2 years in a row will not be taken lightly. Especially when you come up as flat as we did yesterday.

It goes to show that the international competition is catching up to us.

If we WC now and prepare the Arsenal, Chelsea, Sout, West Ham. We can save our transfer for GW 23 and then for GW 24 we have 2 FT for free which mean we can sell Some useless of Arsenal, West Ham and Chelsea players.
Even without Chelsea DGW We could prepare Arsenal and West Ham players and then save transfer for GW 23 and in GW 24 use them to get rid player like Nolan or cole.

    What do you think?

I think I am in a weird situation...

I have 2FT this week and two wildcards left, and I don't think I'm going to use either (just 1FT). Hear me out...

    Jaask / Fed
Ivanovic Luiz Huth / Clark Shorey
Walcott Bale Michu Puncheon / Nolan
    Lukaka Ruiz RVP

I already have Ivanovic and Luiz for Chelsea, and I already have Puncheon for Southampton. I don't feel like I need more Southampton coverage as both games are away. This leaves me with the obvious 1FT of getting Mata in. I refuse to get rid of Walcott or Nolan because of there double the following week, keeping Puncheon for his double, and no way am I getting rid of Bale so Michu > Mata it is.

I was debating on getting Lambert or Ba for either Lukaku or Ruiz, but I don't want to get rid of either of them because Lukaku plays Reading and Ruiz plays Wigan.

The next week I will use 2 frees to get Santi and Gibbs. So I won't even take any hits.

So, my question, is this solid thinking? Or am I missing a trick?

      Generally I agree.
But If (just If) you can consider 1 FT per week : Bale>Mata>Caz>Bale back, it becomes simpler.Depends on the price you bought Michu, and also on the FACT (imo) that Ba will NOT play both games in his DGW. It would be like telling Torres "You're useless" (which he is by the way).

    OPTION A) Rush Now:
I use 1 WC (got 2), buy Ba and 3 CHE-3SOT-3ARS-3WHU. If they don;t draw in the cup ALL OK.
But If they do draw, not only I wasted a WC, I lost value in my team with all the sales.

OPTION B) Wait and Forget Ba and the 4 CHE players scenario. Even If they end up having a DGW
I'll just have 3 CHE players (Mata/Hazard/Azpi) and I will have Defoe vs QPR (in the place of Ba who I won;t be able to buy anymore)

I think B....calm down and wait. RIGHT?

Tremmel -> Turnbull and Silva -> Hazard with my two FTs look ok? Already have Mata. Hazard -> Walcott later for Arsenal DGW. Already have Cazorla.

Starting Xi for the 2 DGW's

      Ivanovic/Gibbs/Clyne

      Mata/Walcott/Ramirez/Nolan

      Podolski/Torres/Van Persie

If i do this i will have to load with one wildcard and get rid with another.
