Arsenal’s progress to Carling Cup Final courtesy of the 3-0 win over Ipswich at the Emirates tonight has disrupted the Gunners’ Premier League schedule – although that issue may well be temporary.

The Carling Cup Final is to be played on Sunday February 27 – a weekend that was to see Arsenal face off against Spurs in the North London derby at White Hart Lane. This fixture in Gameweek 28 will now be postponed, although it could well be reinstated in the same Gameweek.

Gameweek 28 has already been extended with Man United facing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday March 1. It seems likely that Arsenal’s clash with Spurs will be shifted to a similar midweek slot, thus keeping their Gameweek 28 fixture intact.

This is all speculation of course, right now we’ve no confirmation of the rescheduled date and, with that in mind, Fantasy Managers should be wary of the possibility of an Arsenal and Spurs blank in Gameweek 28. With the Gunners facing a double fixture in Gameweek 27, this would indeed be a cruel twist.

Birmingham and West Ham meet in the second Carling Cup semi-final tomorrow night with West Ham leading 2-1. The Hammers are due to face Liverpool in Gameweek 28, while Birmingham are currently facing Chelsea at the Bridge. Both those games are therefore in doubt depending on tomorrow night’s result. Should Birmingham progress then Chelsea’s current double Gameweek would switch to a single fixture against United.

We will update our Season Tickers following tomorrow’s result.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

why is everyone moaning about not having or not captaining berbatov, its not as if he got a hat-trick in an unexpected fixture like arsenal away and we didnt expect it, utd had 2 nice fixtures and hes their top scorer so it was on the cards

i didnt pick berbatov at all as i fancied rooney instead but that was my choice

    it happens get over it

    rant over

Hear hear... I think it made sense to put in Rooney before the GW started, just backfired unfortunately. Have a bit of a headache for the Villa game now though around whether to stick or twist by swapping him for Berbatov...

its time for chico to earn a start and berba has made himself undroppable, so maybe rooney will be placed on the bench? we will be able to see the teamsheets anyways, so no worries

At the risk of sounding like "Captain knob'ed Hindsight", I can't see why people saw him as that much of a gamble to captain. FA Cup game on the weekend against Southampton was always the one where he'd be rested. And it was pointed out a few times, his ridiculous scoring record at home when playing with Rooney.

Very true. It was just annoying that people kind of took it as a given that he was only going to play one game. And as you said up top, it was two easily winnable games, so it's no real surprise he had a stormer.

And yeah, I did captain him. 😉
