The ScoutCast – Episode Ninety Five – Rush

Rush. The best form of goalkeepers for the playground. A long-haired Canadian prog-rock outfit. A mustachioed goal sniffer and, sadly, a description of how Granville and myself had to approach this latest episode of the podcast.

With our studio slot limited, we had to skinny things up and turn this one out double-time. Nonetheless, in 26-minutes, we touched on all the regulars, whilst scattering the silence in between with the usual sniping between the pair of us. It makes you wonder what we waste the other twenty minutes on every week.

Not to worry. Enjoy what you can of this little taster and look ahead to next week’s full-fat return, when we’re planning a new feature and a new voice.

Grab this fast-food snack via this link, or stream the quick chat via the player below….

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

On my wildcard at the minute. Is taking Demel this week over a Newcastle defender worth it when I won't play Demel again for a few GW's? And Newcastle have good fixtures.

If you're wildcarding in the next couple weeks, I think C could be worth a punt. I believe in Santi. But if you have to spend a transfer to get Bale back, (rather than in the wildcard) I don't think it's worth it.

Looking for another opinion on transfers, i used wc last week and did well but now fiso and dgw are doing my head in. Got 1FT and 0 in the bank. Team atm is

    Begovic
    Davies Demel Azpilicueta
    Mata Michu Bale Walcott
    Suarez RVP Ba
    Subs- Bunn Clyne Harte Puncheon

Im thinking azpili to gibbs but getting worried i should jump on the podolski bandwagon just dont know if i can bring myself to -4 for podolski. Id go for dzeko if aguero wasnt fit and that would let me swap clyne for sagna. Ive taken a couple of hits this season because im impatient but it normally ends with bale ruining me. That butters has made me want to keep taking hits though his risks have paid off

Azpil to Gibbs is a good shout. You can probably get away with just doing that, but if Rafa hints on a rest for Ba, get Pod in!

Hes an inspiration really i always think im being greedy taking hits not many people in my leagues do it. I just get pressured when i look at fiso and i hate waiting. I was considering cazorla for bale but he hasnt done much since reading but then again neither has podolski just dont want to miss out on the peoples choice. If i have to get bale back in it will stall my plans to bring in fellaini soon. I love having ba in my team but i cant be arsed with benitez creating another tevez like headache for me. I keep telling myself surely hes realised torres is awful by now and a 20 minute sub at best.

I would agree if the player had fulfilled his responsibilities as a professional footballer, and been a flop. Here we are talking about a man, who walked off at Loftus RD blanking his supporters, and because of his total lack of effort certainly cost us points along the way. He should never darken the door of any football club again. Remember his efforts for Chelsea were very differant. He is nothing but a low life, and a thief.

Aaah, our very own Winston Bogarde!

Our damn stupid fault for signing him in the first place. Tony F could have asked any poster on here their opinion on Bosingwa and they would have told him that he can't defend and can only go forward, doesn't track back to defend.

Hughes was a twit for signing him but WTF were we doing giving a 2 1/2 yr contract worth £60k a week to a friggin right back who can't defend is beyond comprehension.

It annoys me to see players like Suarez, Ashley Young and Bale getting branded 'cheats' and a 'cancer that is ruining the sport'. Firstly, the word cheat is an exaggeration. They are only bending the rules or hoodwinking officials. Cheating is match fixing or taking bribes.

Also we never hear there people giving out about 'divers' mention anything about other types of foul play in the game. Do defenders who pull at jerseys off the ball get any stick? No. Do players who claim corners even though they know that the ball hit them last get the same level of criticism? No. So either start trying to get all these minor issues resolved (which would be quite difficult) or stop being a hypocrite and get off there player's backs... Rant over

The other things you mention all warrant a discussion on their own merits, but to pretend you were fouled when you weren't in order to gain an unfair advantage is cheating.

The thing that annoys me while I'm watching is not when players go down to try to win a free kick/penalty. It's the way players writhe around on the ground in agony and then pop up and start running again 30 seconds later.

But I agree, divers get too heavily criticized. Players have to dive because refs are incompetent and if they're getting fouled and make an effort to stay on their feet, they won't be rewarded with a free kick. They have to fall...

That's true I guess. Total dives are pretty lame. But the reason they happen is because players know they'll be rewarded if they fall to the floor. Some of that is on the officials.

Hmm. Personally I think diving just makes them look like idiots.
It's the players who roll around pretending to be injured that piss me off.
These are fully grown men with families at home and they're rolling around on the grass clutching their leg for dear life after a slight collision with an opponent trying to con the ref into carding the other player. That's where I think the player crosses the line into becoming a despicable cheat.
Bale runs at such a pace, a lot of the time I think he jumps to save himself from clattering into the opponent. Suarez is a disgusting cheat, lets call a spade a spade.

" Do defenders who pull at jerseys off the ball get any stick? No". Because that's part of the game and some times cannot be controlled. Diving (or cheating) on the other hand is a disgrace to football and even as a Man Utd fan, I know A. Young is a cheat and don't even get me started on Suarez

Saving a transfer before a DGW might sound ridiculously stupid but is it justified for this team?

    Mignolet(wig)
    Gibbs(DGW) Azpil(ARS) Demel(DGW)
    J,Cole (DGW) Mata(ARS) Walcott(DGW) Bale(MUN) Fellaini(sou)
    Lambert(EVE) RVP(tot)

    Federici(new) Cameron(swa) Berb(mcy) Martin(liv)
