634x258 The Stock Check

Strikes from Christian Benteke and Gabby Agbonlahor are not enough as the Baggies boing back to rescue a point in midlands derby clash. Here’s the Stock Check on Saturday’s evening kick-off…

On the Up

Christian Benteke
A superb turn and an exocet shot that arrowed into Ben Foster’s net, handed Benteke his seventh goal of the season. The Belgian continues to be Paul Lambert’s key player and the sole Fantasy temptation in the Villa squad. With the Newcastle failing back four up next, Benteke’s chances of scoring back-to-back goals looks enticing.

Charles N’Zogbia
A former Fantasy favourite, at times in the first half, the former Latics winger sparkled and showed glimpses of talent that once made him a serious proposition. A brace of assists will immediately re-introduce him to the radar and, having made just his fourth start of the season, N’Zogbia he could yet emerge as a mid-price prospect in a Villa midfield that’s been bereft of Fantasy options.

Chris Brunt
Rather like the Norwich midfield assets, it appears that Brunt has been on a see-saw with James Morrsion as the main source of points for the Baggies in the middle of the park. A second goal in five games promotes Brunt’s stock this time around and arguably helps to oust Morrison as the primary target in Steve Clarke’s midfield.

Going Down

The West Brom Defence
With Gareth McAuley owned by over 8% of Fantasy Premier League managers and Ben Foster claiming over 6%, the Baggies rearguard goes on disappointing. Having started the season with three shut-outs in the opening five fixtures, Clarke’s side have gone six without defensive returns, conceding more than a single goal in their last four. It’s one clean sheet in 13 league outings, although McAuley’s assist for Odemwingie’s equaliser will sweeten that pill for tonight at least.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I'm actually thinking Ba, RVP, Sturridge.

      Sturridge instead of Suarez
      Fletcher is sporadic with form
      Aguero is managed by Mancini

don't like bego, minloet + wilson when fit. doubling up with demel and o'brien is not a good idea use the extra money to swap obrien to debuchy(i think newcastle will strengthen soon), nasty is to rotatable. like the rest but personally i think suarez is overpriced based on his new position with stuge and i would look to move on with aguero

I think it's automatic entry if you're in one of the other leagues.

not sure Man Utd will be more clean sheets that Stoke, even considering Stoke's recent form.

A little weak at the back, but I see your strategy. Seems fine. Good luck. Sagna is a steal at 5.1m imo. I may have Zab, Gibbs, and Sagna.

All season, I've somehow had more payers on Saturday, and then hoped for damage limitation on Sunday. How the tables have turned.

Now I have to wait for tomorrow, Monday, and Wednesday. Keep the pressure until the very end 😀

So week over a week ago I wc'd and thought to go next two without Bale (qpr, MUN).
Happy to play Punch and Lambert for gw22 double and bench Michu or Walcott.
Plan for gw23, Punch => Cole.
    Gw24 Lambert + Cole => Pog + Bale.

Then days of lurking on this site and I decide it's mental to go without Bale for gw22.
No Punch, No Lambert for gw22. No Cole for gw23.

Mr Bale, You better score tomorrow! And not one, but two!

Filter FPL mids by form, Gerrard is insane.

I was right about AJ though

Gerrard, Walcott, Silva, Mata, AJ are the top 5.

I still think bale, mata, fellaini and michu are all better options than gerrard.

I know Stevie's the 3rd in the midfield but while michu and fellaini provide better value, both bale and mata have missed quite a few games dew to several reasons. No space for gerrard in my team at least

FFS usually does a piece on the second half of the season.

Every season a couple of players who have been brilliant in the first half of the season tend to tail off in the second part. I'm beginning to think Michu may be one of those and possibly Fellaini too.

Tempted to ditch Michu, but its hard to do that when he's the top scoring midfielder so far.

Was also planning on wildcarding this week and getting rid of Silva but, after today and with QPR coming up I'm having second thoughts now.

The fact Saurez and Sturrdige are available makes Gerrard tougher to pick. Fell, Michu, Bale, Walcott, all the attacking focal points of their teams.

And to get BAPs too, it's like a dream come true. He might end up with more points that Suarez and Tevez this week, incredibly.
