634x258 The Stock Check

Strikes from Christian Benteke and Gabby Agbonlahor are not enough as the Baggies boing back to rescue a point in midlands derby clash. Here’s the Stock Check on Saturday’s evening kick-off…

On the Up

Christian Benteke
A superb turn and an exocet shot that arrowed into Ben Foster’s net, handed Benteke his seventh goal of the season. The Belgian continues to be Paul Lambert’s key player and the sole Fantasy temptation in the Villa squad. With the Newcastle failing back four up next, Benteke’s chances of scoring back-to-back goals looks enticing.

Charles N’Zogbia
A former Fantasy favourite, at times in the first half, the former Latics winger sparkled and showed glimpses of talent that once made him a serious proposition. A brace of assists will immediately re-introduce him to the radar and, having made just his fourth start of the season, N’Zogbia he could yet emerge as a mid-price prospect in a Villa midfield that’s been bereft of Fantasy options.

Chris Brunt
Rather like the Norwich midfield assets, it appears that Brunt has been on a see-saw with James Morrsion as the main source of points for the Baggies in the middle of the park. A second goal in five games promotes Brunt’s stock this time around and arguably helps to oust Morrison as the primary target in Steve Clarke’s midfield.

Going Down

The West Brom Defence
With Gareth McAuley owned by over 8% of Fantasy Premier League managers and Ben Foster claiming over 6%, the Baggies rearguard goes on disappointing. Having started the season with three shut-outs in the opening five fixtures, Clarke’s side have gone six without defensive returns, conceding more than a single goal in their last four. It’s one clean sheet in 13 league outings, although McAuley’s assist for Odemwingie’s equaliser will sweeten that pill for tonight at least.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Alright keeping Begovic (bought at 4.6m). Bought Jussi at 4.6m. Should I sell him for Federici and pocket the 0.6m? Or should I keep the Bego Jussi GK team?

Go for Federici. Keepers rarely get big points so opt for a cheap keeper

How's this for a good balanced team?

    Mignolet (Cerny)
Evra - Baines - Zabaleta (Demel | Harte)
Mata - Walcott - Fellaini - Michu (Puncheon)
    RVP - Ba - Sturridge

0.3 in the bank. Don't see the point of owning Suarez when Sturridge is 3 million cheaper. I'm sure Suarez will only be marginaly better in points.

Solid. Would maybe consider Bale over one of Mata/Walcott. But there's not a lot between those top 3. I also think Evra's attacking returns are a flash in the pan, and he's overpriced. But he's certainly been worth it so far.

108.5 as-is. I'm not content with Michu's returns lately but I can't sell him, bought him at 6.6 million. I'm gonna wait and see with Bainsy, but he is 3rd in total points among defenders.

I've considered this lots of times, but I know there will come I time I will need the extra .3...I will always play Migs over Bunn. Hope he doesn't get injured. I can also go for DDG instead of Migs. looks nailed on now.

Bunn will always be there though in the event of a sending off, injury you can still always play Migs over Bunn but gives you a bit of added security incase anything happens to Migs

Nelsen should be here for another 4 or 5 weeks.

Unless we buy a decent CB then when Nelsen goes our back line will probably be Onouha, Hill, Mbia, Fabio.

        Take your pick really.

At what stage do you start to gamble to try and make ground on a ML leader who is almost 90 pts ahead (i.e. top 500 overall). I'm really thinking about going RVP-less and gambling early with the WC

Yeah, to be honest I think thats generally the way I'll go but start looking at the odd differential here and there aswell... i.e. Hazard instead of Mata, Gerrard/Silva sort of decisions as opposed to drastic moves. RVP getting injured would make this game interesting in the coming weeks though haha

Yeah bit frustrated as I was considering Silva and Fletcher this week as a bit of a differential punt but went with Berb to Cisse. I suppose I should take solice in the fact that I'm at least considering the correct plays, and tbh Cisse wasn't far off a big score today given the chances he got.

Far from a must have, but a great option. Suarez has been a bit better all year and most aren't keen on doubling up on a mid table team. And if Sturridge continues to score he's a much cheaper option than either Suarez/Gerrard.

Had him for a few weeks despite his deep position. He naturally drifts more forward in the second half of games and that's when he does the damage. His current form says he has to be picked imo.

Didnt make a transfer this week, and dont know what to do next week really fellas.

Green arrows....already...again this week, and still loads to play (Gibbs Mata Fellaini Bale WalcottCpt Ba and RVP).

Love seeing these greens having seen so many reds this year.

I am gonna have loads of questions these week for you all!!

Ba has 90mins to prove his worth tomorrow otherwise it's Fletcher or Sturridge in, and I may even be tempted to go with a 3-4-3 at the expense of Michu.

Is that what many are considering now? I have seen a few people say they will drop Michu,

2 free transfers this week and stumped where to use them any suggestions? In no rush to use them but a few other ideas would be nice. 0.1 in the bank

    Bego/Rudd
    Zab/Luiz/Gibbs/Demel/Davies
    Mata/Walcott/Michu/Fellaini/Puncheon
    Rvp/Suarez/Ba

Suarez out imo. Bad fixtures, and not central anymore so expect more assists than goals.

That's defo an option I was thinking about, I was contemplating Suarez-Aguero and Luiz-Rafael I have the exact money for this although unsure I want to lose Luiz against Reading, what's your thoughts on this? I was also possibly thinking of getting DDG for Bego and downgrading Demel to Harte. This would give me cover from Chelsea,City, and United for next gameweek what do you think?

I use my phone to come on here, especially when there is nothing on tv or the Missus is watching soaps (so on here quite a lot) not possible 🙂

Silva and Fletcher. Dont see Sturridge rising much this week with their fixtures. I am probably wrong though and someone can inform me otherwise.

Yeah i can't see myself buying him. For those going for the dreaded power-5 he's the perfect 3rd striker though

Surely must be worth a run of starts though now no?

If you have Pog it's not worth it, but if you are WC'ing and going for it then maybe worth a thought. 8 goals is really impressive, and for 4.7!!!!

He's ahead of huge big hitters of yesterday!!

I'd keep Clyne - anyone else you could swap out for Wilson?
