Denied more winnings by Mark Bunn’s penalty save from QPR’s Adel Taarabt, it was a case of so near and yet so far last time out. Paddy grabbed back our profit, then, leaving us all the more determined to see through the bluster of the double Gameweek and find a winner amongst this week’s Scout markets…

Not surprisingly, the double Gameweek players dominate our thinking, with Michu up first in our player markets. The 13-goal Spaniard is without a strike in six league starts but, with basement dwellers QPR at the Liberty, he should be in store for further opportunities to break that duck. Harry’s side have been solid of late but, with Michu retained in so many lineups with his two fixtures, we’re happy to back him with a goal to break the Rangers resolve. Paddy are offering 7/2 on a Michu goal with a Swansea clean sheet and, with QPR struggling to breakthrough at the other end, we’re happy to back that with £4 of this week’s stake.

Steven Gerrard is our other double Gameweek performer on show – lining up in the Scout Picks off the back of some incredibly consistent form, his owners will fancy him for further returns when West Brom pay visit to Anfield on Monday night. Paddy’s odds of 9/2 on a Gerrard goal with a clean sheet for the Liverpool back four look favourable and worthy of another £3 of our cash.

That’s leaving us short for our final two markets, which is a shame when we look at what’s on offer. Odds of 10/1 on a Robert Snodgrass goal with a Norwich clean sheet at home to a Fulham side that could be without Dimitar Berbatov, look tempting. Snodgrass has been the key performer for the Canaries this term and while Chris Hughton’s outfit have struggled for a cutting edge of late, we fancy Snodgrass’ ability from a dead-ball to be a factor here. We’re gladly lay down a couple of quid on this one.

That leaves just a single pound coin to toss the way of this week’s treble. This time around we’ve gone with the tide of form and featured Wayne Rooney in the market, with Paddy offering 14/1 on a Rooney goal against his former club Everton, together with a Juan Mata assist against Wigan and a clean sheet for Liverpool in Monday’s clash with West Brom. If all three of those come in, we’ll have our stake back with some profit to show.

All simply the best options on their teams at that time outside of Lamps who has loads of other options around him. Forwards also did well for arsenal. But none of them is a holding player like Stevie G. I think you should be wary of his deeper positioning with Sturridge. His recent stats are impressive but with Sturridge the 2 goals and 1 assist has came from his only 3 shots on target in that 4 game span. Shots outside the box usually convert at about 7%, with Gerrards excellence maybe we can put that rate on 20%. Plus his one assist from a very improbable goal last week. I think he is a good option still, but I think hopes for an explosive output should be minimized while he is playing as a holding mid with a front 4 ahead of him.

one to monitor I think, I think gerrard has performed better than his stats suggest but he is an awesome player so this could continue, personally I think there going to be some attrition...

all good points. but the very fact that gerrard has all set-pieces in his bag except possibly direct FKs makes him the safer pick for me.

also, studge will be the first one to be removed by BR once they've established a lead and want to protect it.

yeah, they could get a pen in those games for sure. I personally think the main guys will get more rest than Studge bc of his non inclusion in the europa squad. I dont know if Stevie is able to play so many games on the trot. But at his ownership Stevie is worth a punt for sure, just a bit less optimistic about his explosiveness.

Suarez for the less risky option. Gerrard a bit of a punt IMO, but he is in excellent form.

captain suarez. studge is a good enough differential to just own in yer team. don't want suarez to have a big haul and you fall further behind bc you didn't captain him

Current team with 1FT and 1.1M in bank

    Bego
    Davies - Wilkinson - Turner or O'Brien
    Fellaini - Gerrard - Bale - Walcott - Michue
    RVP - Suarez

    Foster - Turner or O'Brien - Cuellar - Pog

any thoughts on Turner or O-Brien to play and am I right to save my transfer for next week?

He is not nailed on to start at all, but pretty much nailed on to at least get off the bench in every game. Sturridge or can you maybe afford Giroud or Cisse?
