Scout League entrants continue to push for the top prize in the Sky Sports game, with Pascal Evans’ twin assault on the top prize now in full swing. We doff our caps to the leading runners and riders, examine the latest movements in the game’s transfer market and look ahead to the latest episode of the show that brings Fantasy Football to our TV screens…

The Scout League

Pascal Evans’ reign at the top of the Scout League continues as he stretches his legs and gains an eight-point advantage over Simon Davis’ “Nags Head Rovers” in second. What’s extraordinary about Evans’ consistency this term is that both his teams are now in our top six, behind the likes of Lewis Nicklen, Chris Pearce and Paul McAnulty – all former leaders.

Evans’ “Covport2” now sits in fourth in the overall standings but the gap to the top has narrowed, somewhat – he is now just 73 points behind in the race for the £25k top prize. Given his momentum right now, you wouldn’t bet against him closing further in the coming weeks.

With Evans’ two entries amongst the eight teams in the top 20, the Scout League is just over 15 points ahead in the Private League rankings.

In terms of the contributors, my Sky Sports campaign has been boosted of late, lifting me into the top 200 with a 35th spot ranking in the Scout League, to make me the current leading contributor on 1480 points.

A reminder that if you’re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519. We have a home cinema system, worth £600, available to the winner.

Market Trends

Robin Van Persie’s goal and assist returns in the win over Everton were enough to reinstate him in the Fantasy thinking, ensuring that the Dutchman has been the most transferred in player this week. Almost 37% of transfers have involved the acquisition of Van Persie, following several weeks where we’ve seen the trend lean the other way after he produced a couple of blanks. Indeed, there were still almost 20% of transfers made this week that saw Van Persie sold on, although it’s clear that confidence has been restored somewhat following the haul against the Toffees. Van Persie remains within 47% of squads in this game.

Luis Suarez has felt the pinch in terms of ownership ahead of Liverpool’s blank Gameweek. Despite fetching handsome returns in the rout of Swansea last time out, the Uruguayan has been party to 40% of the transfers out made this week. While 26% of transfers have seen Suarez acquired, there’s a clear loss of ownership in evidence, with the trade back to Van Persie seemingly a popular route.

Significantly, however, based on form over the last four Gameweeks, Suarez remains strong: he has scored 30 points over that period in the Sky Sports game, a total only matched amongst the forwards by Wayne Rooney. Daniel Sturridge lies fifth in those form rankings, with 23 points from his last four Gameweeks – a factor which is perhaps convincing Suarez owners to cash in. With 20.5 points per million, however, Suarez remains the top value striker in the game.

Mirroring trends in the Fantasy Premier League game, Gareth Bale has attracted plenty of interest from Sky Sports managers, with over 16% of transfers in seeing the Welshman signed up in the last seven days – more than any other midfielder. Surprisingly, Bale’s ownership is still simmering at just about the 15% mark. Bale is the most in-form player in the game based on the last four Gameweeks – collecting no less than 36 points in that spell, four points ahead of Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko.

The Fantasy Football Club – Tonight 10pm

Batten down the hatches: midfield bad boy, Lee Bowyer, is the latest signing for the Fantasy Football Club. He’ll be joining Fenners and Merse in the changing room for tonight’s show at 10pm on Sky Sports One. A reminder that, if you miss the show this evening, you can view a repeat on Sky Sports Two at 9am the following morning.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hey, I'm thinking of getting Mata over Bale, anyone thinking the same? I need some social proof

    Mignolet / Federici
    Clyne / Davies / Dawson / Zabaleta / Onuoha
    Cabaye / Gerrard / Michu / Walcott / Taarabt
Sturridge / Suarez / Van Persie

2 FT, £0.6m in the bank.

so something like Gerrard + Davies -> Mata + Wilson/Cuellar/4.5

    lost/ignored on last page

Have used one freebie to get sissoko for gerrard leaving me with

    Begovic (Jaask)
    Baines, Cameron, Wilson (Demel, Pogatetz)
    Bale, Fellaini, Puncheon, Sissoko (Michu)
    Pogrebnyak, RVP, Aguero

With the other free transfer (and 3.6m in the bank) would you:

    a) puncheon to nani
    b) pogatetz to evans (bench wilson)
    c) save the transfer

You have Cameron - I'm far from certain he starts for Stoke given recent trends. He's the one I'd change if I was to make a transfer. Four of your back five are not certain to start so there is certainly merit in updgrading here - Evans is as good a choice as any.

Not massively keen on either Evans or Nani. Nani is always capable of a run but I'd rather get him a week after he starts looking good than taking a risk a week early and getting burnt when he doesn't play. Is Evans not a rotation risk?

I would save the transfer this week and reassess when we have more info on blanks and see if Nani shows some form.

I know Santon looks more like a threat, but stats show that Debuchy scored 5 goals last season in France, and what I know Santon hasn't scored a single league goal for Newcastle. So I still think Debuchy got more attacking potential.

Debuchy also recieved more passes in the opponents half. I think theyre both good options but im going for the Frenchman

    GJ - Blank

    Punch, Santi, Mata, Fella
    RvP, Remy

    1 FT

My 3 outfielders on the bench have a blank, and Demel, Wilson and Remy are doubts for this gw. Think I should do Demel -> Turner and hope Wilson and Remy are fit. Any ideas?

    Regarding RVP(C)

If you are not willing to hand him the armband this weekend, you need to question why he is even in your team in the first place. His rotation risk will just increase from now until the end of the season. imo no sense in spending 13.0M+ and not trusting with him the captaincy to a team which is bottom of the table.

    Other factors:

    1. He is well rested
    2. No Rooney probably
    3. Nani in form
    4. Evra/Rafael well rested

I agree that theo/Bale are strong candidates to have a good week but RVP has proved it time and time again that he is the most reliable player in the game.

all true, but RVP is scoring single goals at a time. If Walcott goes mental against a very bad villa defence, you'll get 2 golas and two assists. plus people at the top of leagues will give RVP the armband for safety. So you've got yourself a differential

Well said CF but at the same time...couldn't you use the same argument for the DGWs where everyone captained someone else other than RVP for once...you could have said...well what's the point in having him? But the fact is RVP isn't always going to be the best captain pick in your team...most reliable? Yes of course. But look at last week. While RVP scored well, Bale outscored him and should have had more goals. If we're talking about threat, Bale right now is in the same kind of league as RVP. But I take your point...it SHOULD be a no-brainer. But it just isn't like that for people chasing or trying to gain ground.

DGW are certainly the exception. RVP is simply the lone striker vs the worst team in the league. Wally/Bale are mids obviously, and will usually out score RVP when they have a good week. 1 extra point for CS and Goal in a DGW it is a tremendous determining factor when giving a mid the (C) in dgw.

If there were more DGW's (which did not include united) i would consider not owning RVP at all.

Hi guys, have 4 dgw players + Demel, so could realistically end up with 9 players this week. Is it worth it doing Suarez + Sturridge -> Giroud + Cisse (-4), would mean I have 11 players and a full set of attackers (4MF+3FW)

    Cheers.

still a lot of uncertainty. I think its likely as you say that Ars_Eve will be missing. I think City might be OK. Chelsea probably wont have room in their fixture list to move it due to their progression in Europe and Utd could easily have a blank as well. I reckon at least 2 matches will be missing.
