Scout League entrants continue to push for the top prize in the Sky Sports game, with Pascal Evans’ twin assault on the top prize now in full swing. We doff our caps to the leading runners and riders, examine the latest movements in the game’s transfer market and look ahead to the latest episode of the show that brings Fantasy Football to our TV screens…

The Scout League

Pascal Evans’ reign at the top of the Scout League continues as he stretches his legs and gains an eight-point advantage over Simon Davis’ “Nags Head Rovers” in second. What’s extraordinary about Evans’ consistency this term is that both his teams are now in our top six, behind the likes of Lewis Nicklen, Chris Pearce and Paul McAnulty – all former leaders.

Evans’ “Covport2” now sits in fourth in the overall standings but the gap to the top has narrowed, somewhat – he is now just 73 points behind in the race for the £25k top prize. Given his momentum right now, you wouldn’t bet against him closing further in the coming weeks.

With Evans’ two entries amongst the eight teams in the top 20, the Scout League is just over 15 points ahead in the Private League rankings.

In terms of the contributors, my Sky Sports campaign has been boosted of late, lifting me into the top 200 with a 35th spot ranking in the Scout League, to make me the current leading contributor on 1480 points.

A reminder that if you’re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519. We have a home cinema system, worth £600, available to the winner.

Market Trends

Robin Van Persie’s goal and assist returns in the win over Everton were enough to reinstate him in the Fantasy thinking, ensuring that the Dutchman has been the most transferred in player this week. Almost 37% of transfers have involved the acquisition of Van Persie, following several weeks where we’ve seen the trend lean the other way after he produced a couple of blanks. Indeed, there were still almost 20% of transfers made this week that saw Van Persie sold on, although it’s clear that confidence has been restored somewhat following the haul against the Toffees. Van Persie remains within 47% of squads in this game.

Luis Suarez has felt the pinch in terms of ownership ahead of Liverpool’s blank Gameweek. Despite fetching handsome returns in the rout of Swansea last time out, the Uruguayan has been party to 40% of the transfers out made this week. While 26% of transfers have seen Suarez acquired, there’s a clear loss of ownership in evidence, with the trade back to Van Persie seemingly a popular route.

Significantly, however, based on form over the last four Gameweeks, Suarez remains strong: he has scored 30 points over that period in the Sky Sports game, a total only matched amongst the forwards by Wayne Rooney. Daniel Sturridge lies fifth in those form rankings, with 23 points from his last four Gameweeks – a factor which is perhaps convincing Suarez owners to cash in. With 20.5 points per million, however, Suarez remains the top value striker in the game.

Mirroring trends in the Fantasy Premier League game, Gareth Bale has attracted plenty of interest from Sky Sports managers, with over 16% of transfers in seeing the Welshman signed up in the last seven days – more than any other midfielder. Surprisingly, Bale’s ownership is still simmering at just about the 15% mark. Bale is the most in-form player in the game based on the last four Gameweeks – collecting no less than 36 points in that spell, four points ahead of Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko.

The Fantasy Football Club – Tonight 10pm

Batten down the hatches: midfield bad boy, Lee Bowyer, is the latest signing for the Fantasy Football Club. He’ll be joining Fenners and Merse in the changing room for tonight’s show at 10pm on Sky Sports One. A reminder that, if you miss the show this evening, you can view a repeat on Sky Sports Two at 9am the following morning.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    afternoon all

Bit of bad luck last week saw my team take a tumble and I now have a bit of a dodgy defence. Have already made one transfer to bring in Bale for Gerrard but thinking of swapping Mata for Lampard for a 4ph.

    Team:
    Fed, Bego
Betrand, Mariappa, Martin R, Zaba, O'Brien
    (Michu), Bale, Guthrie, Mata, Walcott
    (Saurez), RVP, Giroud

The rafa rotation messed up my team last week but is it crazy to bring in Lampard for Mata and fee up £1.5m for next week (and my defence).

    Cheers for your opinions.

I don't think a 4pointer for Lampard makes sense, since this week you'd probably back Mata to score better. Take the hit the week you're using the extra money if you have your heart set on it.

it's the rotation that kills it. Mata should be the better choice but who knows with Rafa! Lampard is on fire at the moment and chasing down the club record.

        Appreciate the comments tho!

0%, (Okay, fine it's Rafa so 1%) chance Mata gets rested against Manchester City. He's their best player and the fixture is too important.

I don't want to give you false hope, but Moyes has been pretty slick with his 'injury' updates. He did it a few times with Baines and he played every time.

Mind games eh? I remember the Baines one. "A bit of a doubt" gets me hopeful, suggesting he's more likely to play than not. Interesting looking at the twitter and how many Everton fans see it as good news he might miss out. I thought he might have won them over a bit. https://twitter.com/Everton/status/304902373732659201

Moyes' presser slightly encourages me. I knew he'd gone off in the cup game with a knock, and the moment he did I was thinking he'd be out this week. Moyes only said "a bit of a doubt" which suggests he's in contention but they will check up on him. Also given he scored in the cup game and Jelavic didn't, I think it'll be difficult to drop him for Jelavic.

Plus I think he played on for a while with the knock.

im siding towards making moves with players who deffo have a game in gmwk29.

I agree Davies is probably worth keeping. Id be happy to shift Johnson, but Evans seems the most attractive replacement. Chelsea has nice fixtures after next week. Is the united 29 blank not confirmed yet?

Cheapest is S Taylor. He'll play this weekend but his place isn't assured long-term with Yanga-Mbiwa sniffing around.

Santon & Debuchy both look good options. I'd go Debuchy on the basis he isn't eligible to play in EL and Santon is a slight doubt for Sunday.

Out of interest, are you getting 11 out this week? Taking any hits or just holding tight and playing with a man or two down? I’m intrigued to hear how different people are playing this GW.

This is my 11 after benching GJ, Guzman, and Sturridge

    Federici

    Evra Tomkins Turner Clyne

    Mata Bale Walcott Puncheon

    RVP Lambert

Because i can already field this 11, doing Guzman>Sissoko will be for a proper -4 hit rather than an effective -2 like most people. And in doing so i will need to replace an already playing player to make way for Sissoko (either Tomkins home at Tottenham or Clyne away at Newcastle)

Should i still do DeGuzman > Sissoko?

P/s- will probably keep Sissoko for the rest of the season.

          No reason to change from:

          Debuchy, S Taylor, Colo, Santon

But Yanga-Mbiwa is a class act and could easily come in at CB. The fullbacks are the best way in, I reckon.

Agree but they are just out of budget range right now, if it wasn't for their tasty fixtures I wouldn't even be taking this chance. None of the other budget defenders have good fixtures.

    Begovic

    Demel - Sagna - Harte - Shaw

    Bale - Sissoko - Walcott (C) - Fellaini

    Pogrebnyak - Van Persie (vc)

    Cerny - Michu - Davies - Suarez

Possible 8 man team... 4.8 in the bank...

    allready made 4PT by:

Sterling -> Sissoko and Sturridge -> Pogrebnyak

does risking a 8PT makes sense? Only have 30 pts advantage in ML...

Would love some more opinions on this...

    Theoretically, which makes more sense?

    - Using a FT now to swap out Davies > Cuellar/Wilson/Turner to field 11 this week, despite (by my reckoning) only gaining approx 1-5 points (let's say 3 points) over the 3 weeks. This would mean banking £0.1-0.6m.

    - Not using a FT now, field 10, miss out on the approximate 3 points and saving it for a future gameweek (perhaps to improve the way I can navigate the GW29 blanks)

That “3 points” assumes my replacement (probably Wilson or Cuellar) actually plays this weekend.

Wilson - Unsure on his start this week, likely 1-2 pointer if he does play (“I will have a look at one or two things over the next 24 hours, and then make a decision on Marc, but I would like him available to start the game.”)

Cuellar - Slight doubts over his place but not his fitness, likely 1-2 points anyway if he does play ("Carlos [Cuellar] is properly fit now and that’s fine. He’s ready to go.”). Worth the extra 0.5m over Wilson?

Turner is another option but he doesn't rotate very with Harte and Onuoha (benching headache between him, and Onuoha's average fixtures in GW30-31) plus and I have Bunn too so I would double Norwich defence in GW27 and GW29.

If you're still reading, what do you reckon?

Which leaves you at -4 points with Cuellar (not nailed on) instead of GJ.

Best case scenario is a Cuellar start and a Sunderland clean sheet, despite being away.

I think 1-2 points is more likely

I logged into my team earlier and what struck me was my mindset. My total focus has been on what points Bale, Walcott and RVP may return and best captain choice. I have got into a state of mind that the rest are just making up the numbers. To get Bale in I have my weakest defense this season, to be resolve next week. I will show the team, not for RMT, but to make things clearer.
    Begs
    Harte, Mariappa, Clyne, Baines
    Punch, Mata, Walcott(c) Bale
    RVP, Pod..
I cannot imagine how I will cope if Reading are on a CS with 10mins to go, imagine a dour 0-0 at Newcastle, so negative about Baines for some reason, we know what he can do, finally Pod, I'm so consumed with Wally, I'm assuming should he start he will score less,. His stats are intriguing, big returns every 4/5 games. He is on game 4. Returns from these are the once that would make me do silly dances around the room, 😉

Hey guys, what's the latest on Krul?

I am putting Debuchy in tonight because I won't be able to do so tomorrow..

However, if Krul is out I'm not sure I want a Newcastle defender as less chance for clean sheets.

I know the chances of Newcastle getting clean sheets are already not that much but I think they will tighten up a bit more- but probably won't be able to if Krul is injured.

    Thanks! 🙂

I can't see WBA getting so many clean sheets the rest of the season..

Plus Newcastle fixtures are a lot better.

West Brom have got Chelsea away in GW 28.

Gervinho is the only player to have made over 100 passes in the Premier League this season without making a single long one. Calm.
