With the Fantasy Football Scout Private Pool still open to entry and with TotelFootball giving away a free £10 for all new registrations, there’s still plenty of opportunity to get involved before tonight’s big Old Trafford clash. Trying our best not to get too distracted by the United vs Madrid tussle, we take a look at the TotelFootball player list to give you our view on the runners and riders for second legs of the last sixteen.

As per the rules of the competition, our team must be lined up in a 4-4-2 formation, with a further four warming the bench in a 15 man squad. You can pick up to two players per team, though if you exceed this allocation, you will be deducted five points per player over that quota.

With only eight teams to choose from, striking a balance is tricky. If you choose to go without points hits, you’ll need two players from seven teams and one player from the remaining club. The deadline is 7.45pm, though, meaning we can tinker with our picks for tonight’s two games after the official squad lists are rolled out – a real advantage for those favouring the hands-on approach.

Last 16: Week 3 Selections

Having assessed the lay of the land after the first leg encounters were played out three weeks ago, we’re leaning towards three of the four home sides. PSG, Juventus and Dortmund all supply our starting XI with a couple of players apiece as they look to clinch a place in the final eight.

Real Madrid arrive at Old Trafford on the back of two successive wins over Barcelona – confidence is high right now and we fancy Jose Mourinho’s men to prevail tonight. The script almost seems written for Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to spoil Sir Alex Ferguson’s evening, while Angel Di Maria’s creativity could also prove the hosts’ undoing. As mentioned above, with only two players per team allowed without points hits, our options are somewhat limited across the four games and we’ve opted for David De Gea ‘s save point potential between the sticks.

Our faith in Dortmund is also justified by the inclusion of a couple of their main protagonists as Jurgen Klopp’s side look to book a place in the last eight. The Bundesliga side play host to Shakhtar after a 2-2 draw last time round and, having won all three of their group games at home, are the favourites to progress here. We expect goals from both sides, though, and have opted for Marco Reus and Robert Lewandowski for the hosts, with Henrik Mkhitaryan selected for his role in “the hole” for the visitors.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, we’ve doubling up on Juventus for their home clash with Celtic. The Serie A outfit are 3-0 up from the first leg and will be keen to avoid any pitfalls – with no need to go on the offensive, we reckon they’ll keep it tight and a home clean sheet looks a likely outcome. Giorgio Chiellini and Stephan Lichtsteiner, who is classified as a defender but is likely to be fielded on the right of the midfield five, get the nod for tomorrow night’s match in Turin.

Although Zlatan Ibrahimovic is sidelined through suspension, PSG still have plenty of big-money buys more than capable of turning Valencia over in their home game tomorrow. Carlo Ancelotti’s side are 2-1 up from the first leg and will be looking to Javier Pastore to produce, while Alex’s propensity for goals from the back also earns the former Chelsea man the nod. With a spare place in our XI up for grabs, Valencia’s right-back Joao Pereira is selected for his attacking sensibilities.

Someone pointed out that the referee's last red cards have gone to: Cahill, Terry, Gerrard and Balotelli while he was at City. He's also been at the front of some incredibly dubious decisions involving Fenerbache and Galatasaray. At best this guy is an incompetent fool who has something against English teams, at worst, and this wouldnt surprise me in the slightest, money is involved.

Both myself and a friend of mine make a living from sports gambling and we were both of the strong opinion that Real were priced far too short for tonight's game. There is also an old saying that if you can't work out why something appears mispriced, it's often down to inside information...

Before the first leg I felt Arsenal were a little too long and despite the result, I still feel this is the case, though it becomes much harder to judge when a tie is almost dead like this one.

going to swoop in, give my opinion just like that scamp roy keane who dared to have one, and swoop out.
    1) i'd have given nani a yellow, but considered red, flirted with it, looked for an orange card, realise i didn't have one and given a yellow. (man utd unlucky / madrid lucky)
    2) i'd have given real madrid a penalty for rafael's handball, then due to letter of the law for handball on the line a harsh red for rafael, harsh in that there was no real cheating intent there on his part. however intent is irrelevent to the rule, he made himself illegally a bigger barrier (basically arms up and out), whether by accident or not. (man united lucky / madrid unlucky)
    3) near the end i thought evra could have had a pen, a bit of a soft one but i see enough in it. (man utd unlucky / madrid lucky)

the khedira and ramos handball shouts don't even merit discussion

I feel for a sector of UT fans, ones who have a true passion for their club. Deal with so many in Ireland who see those who support less privileged clubs as an irrelevance to football, a guy I know who like so many here latched onto the glory club, asked me the other day as a put down, why do you support such a shitty team? ( QPR) Same guy went off line tonight as soon as Madrid scored.

      Use 1FT - Mata>Sissoko... or maybe RVP>Remy for a 1 week differential punt...

wouldnt be able to afford to buy back, however a differential punt sounds like a good idea. id transfer out walcott as wouldnt lose money.

        any more suggestions for differentials?

Did the referee have something against Man Utd?

Or did Man Utd have something against the referee?

Or not? Possibly probably a probable possibility.

Ignoring the red card for a moment I never understand why people say "We dominated the game and deserved the win but for excellent saves by the keeper" - but if the striker like Van Persie or Ronaldo has a fantastic game score a hattrick then they don't say "We deserved the win but didn't due to excellent play by the striker"

    Got 1FT

Current Strikeforce : RVP - Sturridge - Lambert

This week - RVP > Suarez

    Next week - Michu > Pienaar/Sissoko & Sturridge > RVP

(0.1 short now but RVP should drop)

    What do you think??

    Hey everyone

I wanted to know if Seb Bassong was a good punt for the next few weeks. Norwich have decent fixtures for the next 3-4 weeks and Bassong is always a chance of getting a sneaky goal here or there.

    Thanks all 😀

He's OK as your 3rd or 4th defender.

I'd rather have Martin/Turner, because of their prices. But I suppose if you've got a lot in the bank, it doesn't hurt to spend it on Bassong and hope to get lucky with a goal...

A lot of Stoke's clean sheets this season have come in games that nobody expected, Arsenal H, Liverpool A, Spurs A.

It seems that everyone is expecting Stoke to get smashed by Newcastle, but I'm not so sure. Newcastle are still suspect after a Europa League Thursday, especially away.

I would not be at all surprised to see Stoke get a clean sheet on Sunday. Not saying that they will, just that I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

Yeah, I'm tempted to gamble on that upside, right now the only decision for me is Sissoko or Sissoko & Cisse

I'm going w Sess, and will be down to only two expensive mids -- like it for now but am worried about dgw madness and not having good comps that I can switch in and out:

      Sess Siss Michu Bale Walcott
      Benteke RVP Suarez
