Having assessed the team attacking statistics in the first of a two-part series yesterday, we roll out the next instalment. This time round, we focus on the defensive data available in our members section and analyse the most and least impressive backlines over the last four Gameweeks:

    Help please!!

    My front 8 are:-

    Michu/Sissoko/Mata/Santi/BALE

    Remy/RVP/Suarez

I'll be playing my WC next week but who would you bring in for Bale??

I'm considering Gerrard or Hazard but am not sure.

    Thanks.

Looking at it, we have 3 United, no Everton, no Berba and only Theo, so I think we should. I will be getting Hazard in my team as well, but we have Lamps, and if we are gonna sell Sturridge, I think we want Pool cover.

check out the article, look at the number of chances Reading concede. He is a good keeper, but the sheer number of chances in the box that Reading concede mean there is very little he'll be able to do

    Team for this week...

    DDG
    Baines, Dawson, Wilson
    Sissoko, Michu, Sess*, Cazorla
    RVP, Berbatov, Suarez.

Subs - Bunn, Davies, Mariappa, Bale.

Now, I'm thinking of holding Bale (unless there's a massive price drop) until next week so news on injured Walcott clears up and play Sess (che) this week.

I see no obvious trades for Bale this week, that is a dgw player.

    Any thoughts?
    Thanks.

PS - Trade must be dgw player if brought in this week...

Bale will drop tonight and tomorrow and probs a few times next week, but if that doesn't affect your plans, don't let value bother you.

I know you want DGW players but like you I can't see a good trade for Bale this week out of them, what about getting Hazard/Coutinho/Gerrard in for one week?

Depends who you back to score more : Sess +4 or Hazard/Gerrard?

I know, that's the issue here - wasteful to lose to much value.

Will Sess / Sunderland be inspired by new manager? How often does a team over perform during the new guys first game?

That's why I'm toying with starting sess. It's tricky.

Just wish there was a dgw option to bring in this week. Damn you Theo !

That's my identical midfield. I don't have a WC left, so I am holding on to those 5 despite Walcott and Bale out this week and playing a 4-3-3.

I think saving the extra transfer for a DGW midfielder like Fellaini next week will make sense. Also you'll know if Bale is back in GW 34 or out longer so you could decide to get rid of either Bale or Sissoko for a GW33 DGW player.

If you don't feel the need for Fellaini or a DGW mid then go for Hazard or Gerrard surely.

Very similar predicament to my own. Plan was to do Mata>Felaini next week but that was before Bale got injured, so I am going with what I've got which will bring Townsend off the bench in a 433 and hope that Mata plays

Bale has messed up my plans… This is my current team: http://i.imgur.com/cB7JuCp.png
    0.8ITB, 1FT
My plan was to save my transfer and next week do: Davies, Michu, Begovic —–> Mertesacker, Fellaini, DDG(-4), I want them three players but now I’m left lumbered with a Bale injury, do I:

    A) Take Bale out for the likes of Hazard, Silva, Gerrard (Meaning (-8) next week.)
    B) Take Bale out for Gervinho, and then Davies + Begovic —> DDG + Baines next week. (No Fellaini)
    C) Stick with the plan and play O’Brien this gameweek (team is linked above)
    D) Take Bale out and alter my plans meaning not having an Arsenal/Man Utd defender.
    E) Another suggestion?

I think I have made my decision but I'm just getting more opinions to make sure 🙂

    Hmm...Bale -> Gervinho?
Got Santi already, and with Walcott out could be a good option.
Or maybe Mata? Tough call to make on the Bale issue.

36 for me - I can get 5 options in for 33 no problem, and can't see many more I want beyond that.

The plan for me is to go balls out for GW36 and see what happens.

I think the Arsenal and Everton doubles are too good to let pass wo having at least 5. If you can do that wo re-shuffling a lot, save it for later, else it's better to use it now. Using it now, it'd be easy to get 8 for 36.

Except that isn't true. Adebayor has scored (albeit not enough) and he at least holds the ball up and makes some decent runs. I'm not saying he's been great - he hasn't but Defoe's been worse.

I hope my SGW players like Silva, Clichy, Sissoko, Suarez, Enrique do the business so it's not too bad. All have good fixtures. Difficult trying to maximize DGW players while having one eye on DGW36 and minimizing hits

This Bale news is very annoying. Now I'm leaning towards dumping him for Hazard. Thoughts? It will leave me with this:

    Begovic (Bunn)
    Cameron Mertesacker Dawson (Clyne Harte)
    Michu Hazard Sissoko Cazorla
    Suarez(C) RVP Berbatov

I'll have only 1 FT for the DGW though, and only 4 DGW players...

I guess many are in the position where they will be looking to take a punt on a midfielder (Given that Bale's probably out and Fellaini's still suspended)

SO, who is it that you're getting?

My thoughts on the Bale Dilemma... potential replacements:

    THE BIG GUNS
Hazard: A popular choice. Good form, good fixtures, upcoming double. Expensive though, and then there's the Di Canio Factor.
Gerrard: Good form, good fixtures. No double. Expensive, but on penalties. A lot of people will already have Suarez/Sturridge, and Coutinho is cheaper.
Santi: A no-brainer if you don't already have him.
Silva: Expensive and inconsistent, but sometimes explosive. Has decent fixtures coming up, plus a double. 4 assists, 0 goals away from home all season, but does have some good home fixtures to come.

    THE CHEAPER PUNTS
Gervinho: In-form, but wildly inconsistent. Rotation-threat. DGW, but may only play one.
Arteta: Under-rated in my opinion. On penalties. Averages 5.25PPG at home, which is interesting considering their home double.
Duff: An old favourite. Good start to the season but has tailed off. Double is the only reason anyone would consider him.
Osman: Steadily ticking over (5G, 3A) but nothing spectacular (apart from THAT goal)... double. Not the best fixture this week but he will be important for Everton.

I'm kind of thinking about Arteta you know. Bit of a dark horse for the double, can lose him after without losing too much sleep. Him or Hazard I think. Or Silva.

Ooh, hadn't really thought about him. Not a bad shout - I like the price-range as it gives me some flexibility. Based on nothing specific, I feel like he has a good record against United. But I may be totally wrong.

Wish I had the balls to go Oscar. Would be so satisfying if it paid off, I feel like I've not had nearly enough flair in my team this year.

Would agree with adding all of them onto the shortlist though, not that I really need to lengthen it at this point!

I am going to sell him, was going to before the injury but... Ideally would sell him for Walcott, or another dgw - but would need to wait until next week for news.

          I'm meantime that means...

          * playing Sess v Chelsea
          * losing money.

If I sell now, probably be for sgw player (in gw33) giving me one less dgw.

Would probably follow the herd and go Hazard.

Yeah I'm in the exact same position. It's the Walcott injury/Fellaini suspension which is most annoying.

Hazard makes sense. Arteta is a silly punt I'm toying with, for DGW-purposes, but Hazard is probably more sensible. It's delayed gratification, he does have a double coming up eventually at least.
