Our weekly look at the goings-on in the Sky Sports game is rolled out again this afternoon. As always, we cast an eye over the Scout League’s main protagonists, where the leader made significant ground in his quest for the overall crown last weekend. We also analyse the recent trends in the transfer market and check in with Fenners and Merse ahead of tonight’s fixture with the Fantasy Football Club.

The Scout League

With his top spot threatened last week,Chris Pearce turned in a storming performance to sprint away from the chasing pack. Chris’ side “UtakaDefoeKingPearce” was just 13 points clear at the summit prior to the weekend’s fixtures but is now 45 points ahead of Paul McAnulty in the race for the Scout League title. Paul’s “Housewives Favourite” is a further 31 points ahead of Chris Tuck’s third-placed “Vuvuzela Symphony”, while Simon Davis’ “Nags Head Rovers” and Pascal Evans’ pair of Covport teams are tucked in just behind.

Chris Pearce’s Gameweek not only helped establish a solid lead over the rest of the Scout League, it boosted his chances of finishing first in the overall standings. Although Chris remains third overall, he is now just 37 points behind Simon Ward at the summit in the race for the Sky Sports crown and £25,000 top prize – having approached last weekend some 85 points behind Ward, he’s clearly picking up momentum at the right time.

The Scout League now have seven managers in the overall top 20 rankings – as a result, we remain the top Private League on show, extending our lead from 10 to 15 points over our nearest rival.

A reminder that if you’re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can still sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519. We have a home cinema system, worth £600, available to the winner.

Market Trends

Five goals in his last four appearances has made Dimitar Berbatov the most sought-after player in the Sky Sports game this week. With a double Gameweek just around the corner, the 7.5 priced Fulham forward has been party to 5.12% of all transfers in ahead of Sunday’s trip to Newcastle – over the last five weeks, the Bulgarian has racked up 31 points, the third highest tally of any player.

Gareth Bale was second most popular prior to last night’s turn of events at White Hart Lane. The Welshman had been subject to 4.94% of all transfers made but, having been stretchered off against FC Basel with an ankle injury, is almost certainly out of this weekend’s home clash with Everton and has a blank Gameweek 33 to follow.

With a home game against West Ham on Sunday afternoon, Liverpool duo Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard are amongst the top five transfer targets this week. Suarez has racked up more points (45) than any player in the last five Gameweeks and, while Gerrard is fifth for this respective statistic over the featured period, his 28 points is greater than any midfielder.

Robin Van Persie, on the other hand, has been the third most unpopular player ahead of the Manchester derby. Only the suspended Marouane Fellaini and injured Theo Walcott have been sold on by more managers, with the Dutchman part of 5.62% of all transfers out. While Van Persie’s recent goal drought is clearly an issue, his owners still had plenty faith as United rolled up to Sunderland last Saturday lunchtime – over 23% handed him the armband, with Suarez second most popular captaincy pick (9%) and Chelsea’s Eden Hazard (6%) further back in third.

The Fantasy Football Club – Tonight 10pm

Chris Coleman is the guest on tonight’s edition of the Fantasy Football Club. The Wales boss joins Fenners and Merse from 10pm on Sky Sports One, with a certain Tottenham winger’s ankle injury sure to be discussed.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

He got fit! Actually, I got the same "dilemma", but I didn't even consider benching DDG. Maybe I should. Consider it, that is.

No guarantee the derby will have lots of goals, Man United's defense has been record-breakingly tight lately stats-wise and they are at home.

    Would you rather have:

    A) Baines & Sissoko, or
    B) Turner & Mata/Gerrard

To go with this WC team this week?

    Sagna, Dawson, xxx, Wilson, Demel

Shaping up nicely. I suppose it's about doubling down on Liv or Chelsea.
You could hedge elsewhere and go Silva.
With the double I am more in favour of doubling down on AFC's attack than any of those options.
But I would imagine Mata/Silva will outscore Gerrard and Baines from now on.

i.e. consider Gerrard and Giroud perhaps. Hope Suarez gets a yellow - and if not, bring him back later if he's still killing it.

The plan is to do either Hazard -> Walcott next week for the double, unless either Wally isn't fit or Suarez gets booked (in which case it's Suarez -> Giroud)

Silva could be a good shout but I think he can wait till GW35 as he has mun and tot away in the next 2 GWs

Ah - good plan. Sounds like you've got it covered. So one week only? I'd go Gerrard. I fancy Liverpool to stuff Wham more than CFC - and you've also got more rotation worry with Chelsea.

I don't really think people need Baines AND Fellaini. I don't think they'll get much change out of Arsenal.

A... nice looking lineup... I'm looking at a similar WC team this week (was hoping to wait until next week, but I after Bale's injury, I can't wait).

Sagna's 4.6 price tag looks very appealing, but can we count on him starting?

You think Robles will hold his place?

I think Sagna is still first choice so I expect him to start.

Robles is a gamble -> I really rate Al Habsi but he was benched last week when fit and Wigan kept a cleanie so maybe Robles will get a runout. If not De Gea every week isn't too bad!

I'm not sure you get what i mean. Their news is taken from the clubs when they post it on twitter or their site. So it's just relaying what's posted in the scout tweets earlier. They aren't any more or less reliable than others.

Like this, it's already been confirmed that Debuchy is out. They're just confused. You can't judge them on being reliable as they aren't saying anything themselves

I don't think his flag will be removed. We won't KNOW he's available for City until that week, so he'll probably keep the orange flag for a while.

Despite all the transfers out today, he's still owned by 32%.

Down today, I reckon down 2moro too.

Some people only log in to FPL once a week/fortnight, it'll start going slower but he'll continue to fall I'd say, especially as there's no Spurs PL game for over a fortnight.

Just looking a paddypower and the odds for anytime scorer this weekend. Of all the Bale replacements Gerrard has the shortest odds.

    Gerrard - Evens
    Hazard - 7/4
    Gervinho & Cazorla both - 23/10
    Silva - 10/2

7 - keep an eye on Rafael's injury status. Vidic seems fairly nailed-on if you can stretch your funds. Also a little concern about Rooney rotation. I assume you're keeping Michu for the DGW. I have him and am considering getting rid, as his form has been bad. In a similar price range Coutinho could be a good option. If Michu picks his form up again, you can get him back in for his DGW. Otherwise very good.

No game this GW or next, possibly back for City in GW34

With Walcott out this week too, you're probs having to play the likes of Demel this week. You'll be able to get Bale back, wouldn't want to leave him on the bench for 2 weeks when you could have another heavy hitter midfielder playing.

Walcott would be sitting on the bench as well, no guarantee he's fit. I'd go Gervinho, Gerrard or Hazard. Personally I'm going Hazard, but I have Caz + Giroud already.

If you wait until next week you know if Walcott is fit or not. If he's not, you can get Gerv. For instance.
