David Moyes has this afternoon been officially confirmed as the new manager of Manchester United. The news follows on from Everton’s statement earlier, which revealed the Scot was to leave Goodison this summer after holding talks with chairman Bill Kenwright and expressing his desire to move to Old Trafford:

Moyes has signed a six-year deal with the league champions and will take charge from July 1. Sir Alex Ferguson has already spoken out regarding the move, heaping praise on his successor on the club’s official website:

“When we discussed the candidates that we felt had the right attributes we unanimously agreed on David Moyes. David is a man of great integrity with a strong work ethic. I’ve admired his work for a long time and approached him as far back as 1998 to discuss the position of Assistant Manager here. He was a young man then at the start of his career and has since gone on to do a magnificent job at Everton. There is no question he has all the qualities we expect of a manager at this Club.”

Moyes will remain in charge of the Toffees for the final two Gameweeks of the season, which pits the Toffees against West Ham and Chelsea. Sunday’s Goodison clash with the Hammers will afford him a final home game in charge of the Merseyside club and with Sir Alex Ferguson also entertaining Swansea in his final match in front of the United fans, Fantasy faith in both clubs is likely to pick up ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

We’ve already assessed the potential impact on Moyes’ arrival yesterday, though while the Fantasy landscape will undoubtedly change upon his installation at Old Trafford, the effect on Everton’s fortunes will be equally intriguing. The security of starts offered by Moyes’ regulars over the years, allied with the customary strong finish to the season and solid home form which has harvested a single defeat at Goodison this term could all come into question depending on the Scot’s Merseyside successor.

Already, Michael Laudrup and Roberto Martinez are the front runners for the Toffees job, with Neil Lennon also getting a mention as the managerial merry-go-round gets underway a little earlier than usual.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

stay realistic people...Fergie won't leave Utd. i'm sure he will still be involved in nearly everthing (at least at the beginning)
i'm pretty sure Moyes and him will work a lot together in the early days of this new 'era'

i fear we will NOT see a much worse Utd next season..

    My defenders this week:
    Johnson Clichy Luiz Scharner Pearce

One will play, who might but quite possibly won't, one who I really don't want playing and one who definitely won't play.

Is it worth using a FT to get somebody in? Not really sure who though. Sir Phillip?

Jaques Santini never really had a chance. My theory is that Spurs wanted Santini and Jol, and when Jol became Santini's "understudy" the dynamic soon became very weird. I mean, imagine Big Martin Jol as your assistant.

Christian Gross, the Swiss bloke however, was utter shoyt.

Don't fancy tripling up on Liverpool but should I go ahead with Michu -> Coutinho and Lambert -> Sturridge?

    Bunn
    Sagna / Johnson / Dawson
    Maloney / Walcott / Mata / Bale (c)
Lambert / Aguero / Tevez (vc)

    Hart / Davies / Pearce / Michu

    1.5 in the bank

Hmm, Bunn or Hart on the bench?

I'm in a cup final at work now for FPL - the final is played week 38, so I'm willing to take however many hits in week 37 to get the best team.
    Pretty sure the team I'm playing against will be;
    Jaaskelainen,
    Ivanovic, Williams, Riise, McAuley
    Nolan, Ramires, Cabaye, Mata (C)
    Tevez, Dzeko.

So who would be your ideal 11 for GW38?

I am a bit sceptical whether Moyes is the right choice but if Fergie has recommended him, I have to respect that. He sure knows more about football management than me. On the plus side, he is likely to take it on as a long term project, like Fergie did and he did overachieve with very little resources, which effectively what United need to do compared to say City or Chelsea.

I'd really appreciate some advice please. Me and my main rival (who leads by 23 points) both have the GK combo of DDG + Fed. He's brought in Hart for a hit. Shall I do the same for a hit or keep faith with DDG?

But how will you catch him if all you do is mirror his moves?

While DDG may be likely to be on the bench for one of the remaining games, I expect him to start this one. If you take a hit for a GK then the most you can really hope for is 2 points, maybe a point or two for saves but no huge gain. I think you should look at other areas where you might find a player who could help you narrow the gap.
