The Fantasy Premier League registration pages have been updated today and with it came the news that a new game is on the horizon.

According to the released information, “Ultimate Fantasy Premier League” will be a pay to play game that will deliver a new squad-based experience.

Fantasy managers will select a 25-man squad with a budget of £160 million at their disposal. A prize pot of £15,000 is promised, with £1,000 available to monthly winners – the first time that the Fantasy Premier League have offered cash prizes.

The game promises to deliver the “Ultimate Fantasy Football Challenge” but, aside from these few nuggets, no further information on the game is confirmed.

With the Fantasy Premier League closing in on a launch, we’re now also waiting on more details on this new game, which promises to add a whole new dimension to our seasons.

We’ll look to bring you more information in the next week or so.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I was going to back Bell to get over 74.5 but when I logged in sky had a priceboost so him to hit over 74.5 was the same as him to be top scorer and figured its unlikely anyone else would top KPs 64 so looked much better value!

Wow, just watched some of the footage of United out in Asia. I know its pre-season, but Rooney looked proper unfit, no wonder he got injured.

Read somewhere that due to new tax laws in Spain, CR7 is going to take a 30% pay cut this year. I expect RM will make up the difference and everybody will live happily ever after.

Yeh Spain is upping their tax income big time this year. They have added a few new taxes. They are taxing the crap out of the lotterys now they will apparently raise about €800m from it!

Need to keep moving forward to make it interesting. They were never going to make dramatic changes to the main game this allows them to get a little creative without losing the core attraction of the simplicity of the free game. I for one am very much looking forward to UFPL.

Each to his own. I definitely will - I don't really see a few quid once a year as much of a sacrifice in the context of the amount of time I'm likely to fritter away on fantasy football this year, and what I think my time is worth.

In that case you could argue a strategy to have quite a few big hitters, with plenty of bench fodder and few decent back ups.

Presume if it follows the squad size from FPL, we're looking at approx:

          3 GKS
          8 Defenders
          8 Midfielders
          5 Strikers

          +1 somewhere (Manager perhaps??)

All speculation of course but yeah, can see a lot of bench fodder with the GKs

Can't be more than a couple of quid. They'll need 25 grand for prize money, and I imagine more than enough will sign up for them to make a tidy profit.

Non-UK and Ireland residents might be allowed to play but not claim any prize money, which will be a shame.

If the monthly prizes are per calendar month could be worth going balls to the wall on those that have good early fixtures.

Do you think the inclusion of UFPL will affect the prices? assuming they are going to use the same player process for both games. It would be easy to choose the 3x City keepers and then youre guaranteed a keeper even if Hart gets injured/suspended?

I am sure the player price changes will be totally independent between the two games...They can hardly expect you to pay money for a game the outcome of which is dependent on what happens in a totally different game.

I finalised the deal with Cortese, the player and his agent (after Cortese made him an offer he couldn't refuse) on Wednesday evening and officially confirmed it yesterday evening.

Not only will he help our push for European football and domestic honours in the future, we also believe it shows massive intent and ambition.

JK pretty much has it spot on above I would say...

It is a shame we have to omit Cork, because he had a wonderful season last year, when he was out at the beginning of the season after getting back from the Olympics and subsequently picking up an injury we looked shaky through the middle. Then when he partnered Spider in the middle, we started to look really strong in the defensive midfield department. Both are very comfortable on the ball as well, find space well and maintain possession.

It is a mouth watering line up though and I think we will ruffle a few feathers this year. Clyne and Shaw are very, very good.

Agreed. But he doesn't offer as much as Wanyama going forward. And hopefully Wanyama will replicate Cork's defensive performances. Poch favours 4-2-3-1. Ever since Espanyol. So I can't see him changing to accommodate players.. Perhaps when we are away to tougher oppo all three might be accommodated.

Which one of Hull, Cardiff and CP are people planning to get their 4.0 from this time?

Although Cardiff had the most CSs last season, their opening home games are horrible!

three wrongs don't make a right! It doesn't even things out a little though. You can't blame a batsman for not walking just the umpire for not making him. Its a professional game now the days of batsman walking is gone.

When Trott was given out LBW despite clearly getting bat to ball I didn't see many of the Aussies suggesting he should stay. If anything this is just yesterday coming back to bite the Aussies.

No the "technology" was being used for another ball for some reason and it can't play and record at the same time! Your sky+ box at home watching it can but the tech they use can't! There was no side on view available so they weren't able to use hotspot to see if it hit the side of the bat.

And the review wasn't by Trott - he was given not out, and Clarke reviewed. The side view was missing so that couldn't prove Dar was correct so the decision was overturned. Bit odd because I thought that DRS was supposed to prove the umpire was wrong, which it couldn't.

To be fair that's a little different - the Aussies didn't think Trott had hit it and were perfectly entitled to appeal - only later would they have been alerted to the probability that he hit it. Broad was definitely and deliberately trying to pull a fast one.

Its similar in that its an umpires mistake. There is a chance he didn't know he made contact unlikely but possible.

I don't think so, he'll be pilloried for not walking, and rightly so. Cricket is still (just about) a last bastion of gentlemen sportsmen. It's not the same as defending a footballer for diving to win a penalty.

Yeh he will be but we should probably listen to his side of the story. If he comes out and says yeh I hit it but didn't walk then the Aussies can't really complain too much Ponting said the exact same thing if he comes out and says he didn't think he hit it then I guess it just depends on whether its believed or not.

He can't possibly use that defence with a straight face. As a batsman you know if you hit it, you can feel the vibration through the bat. And in this case it was a massive deflection, not just a thin feather that can only be picked up on Hotspot.

I saw the deflection in real time and it was obvious; I'm just gobsmacked the umpire didn't see it.

Yeh I agree but if that is the case then surely Trott insisting he did get bat to ball should be enough for the umpire to give him not out and overrule the off the field umpire. Its pretty shocking for the umpire to miss it I agree people think that tech in football is going to stop mistakes but this test clearly shows that it doesn't. Its a shame that today is going to be all about should he have walked when it should be about how England have totally taken the game away from Australia.

They are just playing incredibly conservatively not taking any chances. Despite how tricky the Aussies are making it look to take a wicket I think Swan will love how the pitch is looking and I would imagine that was why England chose to bat first.

Norwich City have made some astute signings this summer and could be on the verge of another eye-catching deal. According to reports in Italy, Norwich are closing in on the signing of Juventus striker Fabio Quagliarella, with the Italian champions needing to sell a forward after bringing in Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente.

Chris Hughton is great manager in my opinion. Was doing a great job at Newcastle before being ridiculously sacked and has done a fantastic job for Norwich finishing 11th last season with a team many tipped to go down.

I'm not questioning Hughton's capabilities. I'm merely stating that with both RvW and Fabio, he may rotate them. Of course he may start RvW and bring Qualigarella off the bench, but then RvW may not be guaranteed 90 mins
