Just in case you missed it, we’re supporting PlayON over the new season as our weekly Premier League game of choice. Yesterday we brought you our Strategy Guide, offering some tactical approaches that worked for us last term and tomorrow we’ll be following this up with our first regular player picks article. Today, however, we’re going to examine some of the features of PlayON that you may have overlooked or missed out on whilst playing the game. Plus, we get to take an exclusive peek at the new PlayON website in development.

The Live Matchday Experience

PlayON is powered by a live feed of data from OPTA which enables them to update their points on the fly. They also provide a live feed of events as they happen – this means you can see your points tick away as tackles, goals and assists rack up. You can also see your standing in any of the games you’re playing update live and even compare your current score against any of your competitors. Take it from us, it’s addictive stuff when you’re tussling at the top for some prize money.

For a preview of a live matchday on PlayON, check out this movie.

My Club and League of Titans

We have to admit, we only investigated this feature at the very end of last season but can see clear potential in it. PlayON enables you to affiliate yourself to your favourite club, which means that from that point on, your PlayON weekly team score get added to your club’s points total. This can help your favourite club win trophies in the game when they reach certain points thresholds.

This is taken a step further with the dramatically named, “League of Titans” – which is designed to prove which club supporters know the most about football. Here the top scorer from each club is picked to represent their club in the following Gameweek – leveling the playing field between clubs with small numbers of followers and the larger clubs. Score well and you might get the chance to become the “Titan” for your club and go some way to demonstrate that your supporters have the superior football knowledge. After all, it’s scientifically proven that Fantasy Football ranking is linked to football knowledge.

Open Challenges

PlayON, like most Fantasy Football experiences, is best played with mates but, if you’re new to the game, you can immediately get involved in some one-on-one challenges by using the “Open Challenge” option. You set the number of games you want to play, the amount you wish to stake and other players will see your challenge and come and take you on.

The New PlayON

There’s a revolution on the way with a brand new site being prepared to enhance your PlayON experience. While this is being developed as this is typed, PlayON have offered us an exclusive early peek at what’s in store and you can view the development site via this link.

As you’ll see, the game is getting major facelift with a slick new design but there’s also new features on the way:

Top 5 Leaderboard
Your top five weekly scores over the PlayON season will now be collected and you’ll be ranked against other players in this new leaderboard. There will also be Top 5 Leaderboards for individual games for those setting up regular showdowns with mates.

Enhanced Live Matchdays
PlayON are adding a chat facility to the matchday console. This will fire up once the game is created during the week so you can start the banter before the first whistle blows. There will be private chatrooms for all games created on PlayON so the players involved can trade jibes while the points tally up. There will also be new matchday information tickers updating on major events in the matches and full lineup details for each match. Nice.

And there’s more…
With a new mobile site on the way and a reward system that offers players cash prizes for reaching milestones, these are exciting times for PlayON.

The PlayON Team would like to get feedback on the new site from us so if you have any suggestions for improvement or new features you would like included, add them as comments below and the PlayON Team will pick them up.

Be sure to check out our player picks article tomorrow and, if you fancy taking part this weekend, refer back to yesterday’s strategy guide for some tips to get you started.

You can play for free and Fantasy Football Scout is running a £2 multiplayer game for the community with a guaranteed £500 prize pot this weekend.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Can't get much joy using hot topics or anything else (or seeing comments for days now 🙁 ), so not sure how this is looking from the normal.

    RMT

    Mignolet , Boruc
    Toure, Yanga-Mbiwa, Coleman, Turner, Chester
    Mirallas, Walcott, Hazard, Silva, Allen
    Lambert / Soldado / Negredo

Any thoughts on this? Know it's lacking on DGW but seems too many tricky options in there, that it seems more hassle than worth.

That Darren Bent move is really disappointing, would have loved to see him at Selhurst. From what I've read it seems like Holloway really thought he had the deal in the bag

Doesn't seem like Brayford will start GW1 so would look at that. Westwood may also be 1st choice over Mannone as he started their last friendly, but we may get more info before deadline. Great strikeforce, going with the same myself.

Don't think it's an injury. Most expect him to be first choice this season, but i think he's probably being saved from making his debut at the start. Going with experience. Just a hunch though

Defence dilemma. Asked this earlier, asking again for a few more thoughts. A or B?

      A) 0.5 pricier

      - Mignolet
      - Ivan
      - 2 of Clyne/M. Turner/Collins
      - 2 of Chester/Moxey/B. Turner

      B) 0.5 cheaper

      - Boruc
      - Ivan + Toure
      - 1 of Clyne/M. Turner/Collins
      - 2 of Chester/Moxey/B. Turner

    Ruddy
Ivanovic Clyne M Turner Collins (Chambers)

I'll be monitoring the Collins sitch right up until deadline.
Chambers is there in case Clyne doesn't make it. He's a straight swap for saints right?

    Would love a helping hand.

    Silva or Coutinho?

I will definitely get Sturridge in GW 2/3, so why double up Liverpool? So Silva seems like the better choice.
But Coutinho is in better form. So Coutinho seems like the better choice.
But with Coutinho, if I get both Sturridge and Dzeko, it will probably for a hit. So Silva seems like the better choice.
But I will only go for the short term, Dzeko can be explosive Silva is boring. So Coutinho seems like the better choice.
But Silva is the most nailed on City coverage. So Silva seems like the better choice.

Is Collins not injured though? (he was originally in my team).

Allen I'm thinking, will play the majority of games and Rodgers has actually spoke last year of wanting to use him in more of an attacking role.

The others looking at in that role are the Ravel Morrisons, Barkley, Tonev, Koren.

Mbiwa and Toure are ones I'm far from 100% on. Mbiwa is 2nd choice captain though, so thinking he will probably be in the team. Is a little bit punty though.

You've mentioned the big weakness yourself. Simply need to gamble on the DGW, this is the time to get ahead.

The thing with most double gameweeks is that players tend to score big in just one match more often than not. Even Chelsea players who only get one match this week still have the fixtures to outscore Mirallas, Lambert and City players early on, and there's a chance they could do it by a mile.

If you're set on avoiding them though, then all I'll say is I don't think Yanga is anywhere near nailed on 😀

Problem is realistically there are 3 strikers fighting for 1 forward role. Lukaku is the one I'd probably squeeze in.

        Defenders are too pricey.

Mbiwa to a £4m defender would allow me to do Lambert > Lukaku.

Or do Walcott > Schurlle for the week possibly for a punt.

Wenger doesn't see any problems, Caz and Arteta face fitness tests. Whether Walcott gets or lasts a full game is another matter.

No, I'm contemplating. I think Mata will get at least one game.

What are the chances Torres starts instead of Lukaku?

What striker do people recommend to tide me over until Aguero is available (first 2-3 gameweeks).

Currently thinking Negredo, Dzeko or Sturridge. Hate Benteke's fixtures and Lukaku's unkown gametime...

    Already have Soldado and Giroud.

Sturridge for now although negredo could well win the golden boot this year

Seems like Chester + Ward are the most certain starters. But I don't want a CPL defender myself, I changed Brayford for Turner this morning after reading the article posted earlier.
