Just in case you missed it, weβre supporting PlayON over the new season as our weekly Premier League game of choice. Yesterday we brought you our Strategy Guide, offering some tactical approaches that worked for us last term and tomorrow weβll be following this up with our first regular player picks article. Today, however, weβre going to examine some of the features of PlayON that you may have overlooked or missed out on whilst playing the game. Plus, we get to take an exclusive peek at the new PlayON website in development.
The Live Matchday Experience
PlayON is powered by a live feed of data from OPTA which enables them to update their points on the fly. They also provide a live feed of events as they happen β this means you can see your points tick away as tackles, goals and assists rack up. You can also see your standing in any of the games youβre playing update live and even compare your current score against any of your competitors. Take it from us, itβs addictive stuff when youβre tussling at the top for some prize money.

My Club and League of Titans
We have to admit, we only investigated this feature at the very end of last season but can see clear potential in it. PlayON enables you to affiliate yourself to your favourite club, which means that from that point on, your PlayON weekly team score get added to your clubβs points total. This can help your favourite club win trophies in the game when they reach certain points thresholds.
This is taken a step further with the dramatically named, βLeague of Titansβ β which is designed to prove which club supporters know the most about football. Here the top scorer from each club is picked to represent their club in the following Gameweek β leveling the playing field between clubs with small numbers of followers and the larger clubs. Score well and you might get the chance to become the “Titan” for your club and go some way to demonstrate that your supporters have the superior football knowledge. After all, it’s scientifically proven that Fantasy Football ranking is linked to football knowledge.
Open Challenges
PlayON, like most Fantasy Football experiences, is best played with mates but, if youβre new to the game, you can immediately get involved in some one-on-one challenges by using the βOpen Challengeβ option. You set the number of games you want to play, the amount you wish to stake and other players will see your challenge and come and take you on.
The New PlayON
Thereβs a revolution on the way with a brand new site being prepared to enhance your PlayON experience. While this is being developed as this is typed, PlayON have offered us an exclusive early peek at whatβs in store and you can view the development site via this link.
As youβll see, the game is getting major facelift with a slick new design but thereβs also new features on the way:
Top 5 Leaderboard
Your top five weekly scores over the PlayON season will now be collected and youβll be ranked against other players in this new leaderboard. There will also be Top 5 Leaderboards for individual games for those setting up regular showdowns with mates.
Enhanced Live Matchdays
PlayON are adding a chat facility to the matchday console. This will fire up once the game is created during the week so you can start the banter before the first whistle blows. There will be private chatrooms for all games created on PlayON so the players involved can trade jibes while the points tally up. There will also be new matchday information tickers updating on major events in the matches and full lineup details for each match. Nice.
And thereβs moreβ¦
With a new mobile site on the way and a reward system that offers players cash prizes for reaching milestones, these are exciting times for PlayON.
The PlayON Team would like to get feedback on the new site from us so if you have any suggestions for improvement or new features you would like included, add them as comments below and the PlayON Team will pick them up.
Be sure to check out our player picks article tomorrow and, if you fancy taking part this weekend, refer back to yesterdayβs strategy guide for some tips to get you started.
You can play for free and Fantasy Football Scout is running a Β£2 multiplayer game for the community with a guaranteed Β£500 prize pot this weekend.
