Just in case you missed it, we’re supporting PlayON over the new season as our weekly Premier League game of choice. Yesterday we brought you our Strategy Guide, offering some tactical approaches that worked for us last term and tomorrow we’ll be following this up with our first regular player picks article. Today, however, we’re going to examine some of the features of PlayON that you may have overlooked or missed out on whilst playing the game. Plus, we get to take an exclusive peek at the new PlayON website in development.

The Live Matchday Experience

PlayON is powered by a live feed of data from OPTA which enables them to update their points on the fly. They also provide a live feed of events as they happen – this means you can see your points tick away as tackles, goals and assists rack up. You can also see your standing in any of the games you’re playing update live and even compare your current score against any of your competitors. Take it from us, it’s addictive stuff when you’re tussling at the top for some prize money.

For a preview of a live matchday on PlayON, check out this movie.

My Club and League of Titans

We have to admit, we only investigated this feature at the very end of last season but can see clear potential in it. PlayON enables you to affiliate yourself to your favourite club, which means that from that point on, your PlayON weekly team score get added to your club’s points total. This can help your favourite club win trophies in the game when they reach certain points thresholds.

This is taken a step further with the dramatically named, β€œLeague of Titans” – which is designed to prove which club supporters know the most about football. Here the top scorer from each club is picked to represent their club in the following Gameweek – leveling the playing field between clubs with small numbers of followers and the larger clubs. Score well and you might get the chance to become the “Titan” for your club and go some way to demonstrate that your supporters have the superior football knowledge. After all, it’s scientifically proven that Fantasy Football ranking is linked to football knowledge.

Open Challenges

PlayON, like most Fantasy Football experiences, is best played with mates but, if you’re new to the game, you can immediately get involved in some one-on-one challenges by using the β€œOpen Challenge” option. You set the number of games you want to play, the amount you wish to stake and other players will see your challenge and come and take you on.

The New PlayON

There’s a revolution on the way with a brand new site being prepared to enhance your PlayON experience. While this is being developed as this is typed, PlayON have offered us an exclusive early peek at what’s in store and you can view the development site via this link.

As you’ll see, the game is getting major facelift with a slick new design but there’s also new features on the way:

Top 5 Leaderboard
Your top five weekly scores over the PlayON season will now be collected and you’ll be ranked against other players in this new leaderboard. There will also be Top 5 Leaderboards for individual games for those setting up regular showdowns with mates.

Enhanced Live Matchdays
PlayON are adding a chat facility to the matchday console. This will fire up once the game is created during the week so you can start the banter before the first whistle blows. There will be private chatrooms for all games created on PlayON so the players involved can trade jibes while the points tally up. There will also be new matchday information tickers updating on major events in the matches and full lineup details for each match. Nice.

And there’s more…
With a new mobile site on the way and a reward system that offers players cash prizes for reaching milestones, these are exciting times for PlayON.

The PlayON Team would like to get feedback on the new site from us so if you have any suggestions for improvement or new features you would like included, add them as comments below and the PlayON Team will pick them up.

Be sure to check out our player picks article tomorrow and, if you fancy taking part this weekend, refer back to yesterday’s strategy guide for some tips to get you started.

You can play for free and Fantasy Football Scout is running a Β£2 multiplayer game for the community with a guaranteed Β£500 prize pot this weekend.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

REPOST (from middle *gulp* of last page)

Alright folks, taking a quick scan over my preseason shortlist here. What's the current feelings on Nacer Chadli?

    Flashback to the Scout Report:
"12 goals and five assists [last season] from 26 games... The Belgian also chipped in with six goals and six assists in 10 Europa League matches in 2012/13, a sign of his flourishing eye for goal. On the international stage, Chadli has turned out for his country on 14 occasions and has found the net twice."

I had him down with a little star next to his name but haven't seen any love for him on here recently. 7.5m for a player who can score and assist and could feature regularly within the attacking front 3/4 depending on AVB's formation and the Bale situation. Top that off with some tasty opening fixtures.

Are we predicting 'Lennonesque' returns in which case the price seems fairly accurate? It's a gamble but I don't know, there's something of the dark horse about him I like and I'm close to punting. Mirallas is the obvious choice in that mid-priced range but my current draft actually includes both as the obvious midfielders are quite sharply price IMO. Just putting it out there to ask if there is some kind of glaring oversight on my behalf or is it a risky but decent punt?

Hi IT, how you doing? Getting to decision time. I dont like it!

Thanks for above on Chadli. Not someone i've considered yet -but seems a viable option. I'd be wary ahead of confirmation of Bale either way though. I've got a feeling he'll be staying myself.

Hey CC. I'm good but due to 3 weeks hols this is the latest I have left it to start tinkering with my FPL team.

The thing about Chadli is that if Bale stays it looks likely that AVB will continue with his 4-2-3-1 formation anyway with Bale in the hole behind the striker. In which case, it looks like Lennon will continue on the right and Chadli would pip the left spot ahead of the slower and less well-suited Holtby and Siggy.

Ok so ive seen about 50 rmt's and what can i conclude is that they are almost all generic... Not that mine is so different but some players are a must for the start like last season with crappy chelski.. πŸ™

GK. Ive gone with mignolet/davies. Thinking he can score good at lpool this season, nice fixtures and plus hell have saves... imo a good choice for 5.5.

DEF. Ive gone with Luiz as a choise from chelskies, than toure, dont know bout doubling on lpool defs but u can never know, or as well might go with another 5 or 5.5 def... and than Ward, Brayford, Chester as all 4.0 defs who will rotate... a good tactic thet got me 72nd in all rankings 2 seasons ago.

MID. Now this is tricky... Ive gone with Hazard and Oscar... hmmm not sure bout this but for now... Than there is Mirallas a good choice for 7.5 and Larsson who i think is underestimated for 6.. and a sub Williams or Livermore for 4.5. Might try with wilshere for Larsson... Please feel free to comment on changes in mid...

FWD. RvP a MUST for me at least! Than there is Dzeko and Sturridge, who i do think will score. Might get Lambert or Berba for Dzeko but think hell have his minutes under pelegrini..

So what are ur thoughts... the weekend is very near... hope to help with my thinking, please share urs.Srry for repost its all so fast πŸ™‚

Whats the consensus on Brayford vs B.Turner?

I feel that eventually Brayford will get his place in the Cardiff City line up (Mallky loves him, called him the best RB in the championship last season..) whilst Ben MAY not be able to to permanently displace Hudson from the line up.

So with their opening fixtures of:
    west ham,CITY,EVERTON,hull,SPURS

we're anyways not going to play for the first 5 gws of the season (with the possible exception of Hull) so perhaps it makes sense to get Brayford to warm the bench (both Cardiff's and ours) until around that time?

Back from the dead now that the season's started. Looking at the new Bonus Points System, it seems there may be a shift? Some new systems are crazy:

    - Creating a big chance (a chance where the receiving player should score)
    - Providing 3 key passes

Essentially the same thing, are they not? How will they even judge this? This will surely bring up troubles and complaints throughout the season...

    Another major changing point:
    - Pass Completion (after making at least 30 passes)

    - 70% completion (1 point)
    - 80% completion (2 points)
    - 90% completion (3 points)

Will choosing holding players/centre backs that average high pass completion rates provide a stable option? IE. Carricks, Artetas, Ramires, Toures etc? Surely most EPL players complete minimum 70%.

Will these change in bonus points system bring about a change in selection? Discuss.

It might make a slight difference when it comes to 0-0 draws and the like, but basically we'll still see the goalscorers hogging the baps. I'll be completely ignoring the changes when it comes to team selection.

It's not like you actually get FPL points for all the extra stats (as in Metro), and we don't actually know what effect these kind of stats had under the old system (sorry Bap Chap...)

So at the end of the day do you think all those previous stats trump these pass completion changes etc? Won't going for more possession team oriented players sway decisions? I was thinking of players such as Carrick as he's one of United's best players in most games and now the changes in the system may reflect him getting more points.

I look at the bonus points as just that, a bonus. Get the players that score and assist and the baps will follow.

Things will change a bit but unfortunately we don't know to what extent. The Scouts tried to run an analysis but couldn't get the numbers to replicate the example given on the FPL site so abandoned it rather than risk misleading us.

The only big change we can conclude is that in low scoring games, DMs and playmakers ought to benefit.

It does change things but not as much as you think - anyone scoring goals is still more likey to get the bonus points, the CM's your talking about will get the BP's in a 1-0 result.

Tackles will help to so think about DM's like Schniederlin, Fernandinho (although £8m is alot). Also think about CB's that pass into midfield - Jagielka, Yoshida, Williams.

Yes, the CB's was a major idea I was thinking too. This would surely opt for people to pick less players, from say Stoke, and go for options in Swansea for example based on their ability to hold the ball and complete passes.

I don't like WBA this season I really don't and I had Migs/Marshall and then looked at Boruc/Mannone but when I really got a fixture spreadsheet together I found that until GW18 the fixtures for WBA/Sot are ridiculously good. I mean outside of Swansea I won't play against a single team them that I think will even finish in the top half let alone the top 7 or even top 4!

I mean seriously this is how it looks..............only 4 away games even!

Marshall actually cover's Migs' tough fixtures quite well, but thats niether here nor there.

If a keeper is going to get me a clean sheet in any given GW then the -4 hit is like a free transfer, so I have no qualms about changing keepers throughout the season

All I'm saying is that a Boruc / Ruddy combo (or other such cheap-rotating pair) is IMO more likely to net you early clean sheets for the first several GW's then Migs will on his own.

It's hard to say at this stage. Kaboul will be a better partner for Vert if he's anything like he was before he got injured, but Dawson is captain. Not to mention rumours we're after another CB and Capoue can play there.

I wouldn't call it a bandwagon exactly, been rolling since his early West Brom days. I'm going Lukaku and Hazard, was considering getting Mata too but won't. No defenders. Hull probably won't score against them but Agbonlahor, Weizmann and Benteke are no mugs, I expect a goal from them. 1 CS from an expensive defender you prob need to transfer before GW3 mightn't be great.
