Everton have offered further details on the hamstring injury sustained by Mikel Arteta in last night’s 1-1 draw with Birmingham. The Club have announced that, following scans, the Spaniard appears to have suffered a grade two tear.

That indicates that Arteta may have suffered damage a number of the muscles in the area where “the fibres have been pulled apart but they haven’t completely ruptured.”

Although Everton have stated that “It is not yet known how long the Spanish midfielder will be out for”, sources suggest that such an injury normally carries an absence of 2-6 weeks, others claim 4-6 weeks. At this stage, the safe bet would be to assume that Arteta seems likely to face around a month on the sidelines. That would see Arteta miss league fixtures against Fulham, Aston Villa and Wolves, with a possible return against Blackburn on April 16 – gameweek 33.

Over 100,000 managers in the Fantasy Premier League game have transferred in the midfielder over the past two gameweeks, with Arteta’s price rising from 8.0 to 8.3 as a result.

Arteta’s absence from the Everton lineup will come as a major blow for David Moyes. In Fantasy terms, it could now bring Seamus Coleman back into his starting lineup having started on the bench in the previous two matches, while Leighton Baines will be expected to assume full set-piece duties and possibly spot-kick responsibilities. Everton are yet to win a penalty in the league this season.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Anyone else looking at Titus Bramble? or another Sunderland defender?

Fixtures coming up are decent, and Sunderland have a good clean sheet record, especially at home i.e. when you'd most like play someone like Bramble.

At 4.4 he's pretty good value.

Don't know, have a mental block on bramble after last season. Got him early and when he scored he was 3rd sub and when I played him he inevitably got nowt.
Then lost @0.5 in value and couldn't ship him out.
But on the other hand a few people have been mentioning him.......

I'm thinking to do Tevez/Zigic/Young out for RVP/Gyan/Lampard in.

Gives me a front 8 of Lamps, Nani, VDV, Nasri, Barton, Rooney, RVP, Gyan.

Will do Barton to O'hara after.

Surely Caroll is going to start the next game and all the following ones? Or do we think Kuyt might keep him out a bit longer?

Really fancy getting him in my team, scored well for Newcastle and he would free up a lot of cash to bolster my defence and possibly get Frank in!

im sure many people are stuck in this dilema.
now that RVP is fit. its unlikely that everyone will go with a front 3 of RVP TEVEZ and ROONEY so if you had to pick two which two would it be.

Yeah this is my dilemma. Was really happy with that front 3 until RVP got injured, so I got rid of him. I would like it again but I think I need to get some decent defenders that are going to play every week and also need to strongly consider Lampard.

I have no idea which 2 I'd want, probably RVP and Tevez as they seem to do the business on a regular basis. That being said Rooney has looked better and Utd have good fixtures. All 3 are penalty takers too, really tough decision imo.

I had a similar dilemma. Brought in Zigic for RVP last week but now want to swap back, but I also want Lampard so Tevez has to go for Gyan or Carroll.

I think RVP would be the my first preference and Rooney before Tevez as second. Could come back to bite me though.

    Hi,

I'm new to the site. I have 1502 points, and my league leaders on 1602.

My team at the moment is

    Begovic (Foster)
    RJohnson Huth Coleman
VDV (Captain) Nolan Adam Nani (inj)
    Saha Tevez Rooney

Subs - Arteta (inj) Williamson Evatt

Thinking of bringing following players over the next 3/4 weeks for the double games in week 33

    Evatt > Djourou
    Tevez > Van Persie
    Arteta > Walcott/Nasri/Young
    Williamson > Luiz
    Adam > Malouda
    Saha/Rooney > Defoe/Caroll/Suarez

Thoughts? Which first? Any other players I should look at?

If I drop Nani I lose 1.1m btw

Keep Adam, he's a points machine and Blackpool have a good few home games coming up. And, more importantly, DON'T GET MALOUDA!!

Other transfers look decent though. Any way of affording Lampard instead of Malouda?

      How's about a forward 8 of:

      VDV Lampard Adam Nani Nasri
      RVP Rooney Carroll

      Can you afford that?

Actually I'm fairly sure the answer is 'no'! That just looks too expensive!

Maybe lose Rooney for someone like Gyan? Sunderland have some excellent fixtures coming up. Or get Welbeck (he's uber cheap) instead of Carroll.

Jamsie, what do you think of having both Bramble and Welbeck (from GW32)? Would give me a front 8 (after transfers) of

Tasty! All the rough transfers plans I've made so far have included Gyan, but realised last night how damn cheap Welbeck is!

That midfield is ridiculous though, virtually perfection. I'd go with that plan, definitely!

I think there are going to be quite a few the same. I'm going for the same MF/STR combo except O'Hara instead of Adam and either Carroll or Gyan instead of Welbeck.

WLV have a pretty good run in so I think O'Hara could be a nice differential 🙂

I can afford now. But is it worth the risk.....FA cup games, potentially more injuries, 12 point hit.....I don't think so.

Yes I can afford all those if I transferred today, but not if I wait. Tempted to go for Walcott (if fit again) instead of Nasri as my competitors have him.

Who out first? Saha (Everton lacking creativity), Tevez (tough Chelsea game)

Arteta out should be the priority, looks like he's out for a month at least. Then Evatt to Djourou or Tevez to RvP (assuming RvP is fit).

Keep Rooney for the next 3 games at least, Saha to Defoe if you fancy a bit of a gamble.

Not sure about Malouda, and Adam has 4 straight home games in April.

You must have got Nani when he was just 7.9 too. I dropped him this week and got in Lampard, and took the 1.1M hit. At this stage of the season, team value is not as important as getting the points.

Pleashe i've been saying Joe Cole was crap since his west ham days. Another classic example of an english player's ability being blown out of proportion.

Soon you'll all recognise that i was right about Wayne Rooney all along 😀

I disagree. Hes crap now, but he used to be a very decent footballer.

Hes got no pace, so I think Liverpool should try moving him back into a Danny Murphy type role, where he could have a decent influence on the game

Can't see that working to be honest. Not only is Cole not nearly intelligent enough to play that role effectively, he also isn't a particularly great passer of the ball.

Joe Cole was excellent at Chelsea for a period under Mourinho. I forget exactly when but he was certainly £6m well spent. Seem to recall him having a blinder in Valencia?

Cole was really terrible. Just a bad, bad pickup for them. He could find a decent role on one of the minnows at the bottom of the table, but he has no business on a club with any aspirations beyond staying up in the EPL.

I can't believe that, besides Pepe, Lucas may be Liverpool's best player -- though I expect Carroll and Suarez to be excellent for them.

Yeah, just for this season, I think he's been their best (besides Pepe, as I said). Gerrard and Agger haven't played enough, Suarez has only been around for a few games, and Meireles didn't do much under Hodgson.

I reckon Meireles will cause teams a lot of problems if he continues to get the free-er central role that Dalglish is playing him in.He always caught the eye playing for Portugal and Porto in that position, god knows why Hodgson bought him then played him oop!

Just highlighting your stubborn refusal to accept how important Lamps is to our team and constant references to his only value being penalties. Bloody good penalty the other night though 😉 Torres will never score for us. Fact. It is ridiculous how he keeps

He keeps his starting role because Drogba somehow manages to play worse than him. Anelka Torres with Malouda/Kalou is Chelseas best bet right now.
