He’s well travelled. He’s multi-lingual. He’s just 19 points behind me. Despite my best start to a Fantasy Football season in living memory, Granville is right on my tail. In this latest episode of the ScoutCast, Granville takes delight in taunting me by wrapping his tongue around every “Pochettino” with ease, leaving me to struggle like Paul Merson with a mouth ulcer.

In between the mispronunciations, myself and the “cosmopolitan Manc” get heated about Robin Van Persie, rinse through the Gameweek 1 bandwagons, preview the weekend’s action and welcome the flying start made by this season’s ScoutCast team. It’s breathless stuff, squeezed into a low fat 40 minutes.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Pretty sure fiso is still inaccurate after their problems earlier today. FPL has R. Morrison @ 6864 T/O total this week where fiso thinks he's had that many today.

Apologies, my post was lost on the bottom of the page:

Have people owning a Chelsea defender and Lukaku taken a hit to get them out in time for united and the blank. I'm weighing up whether the short term risk of taking a 4 point hit for a defender is worth avoiding the price rise for a long term pick.

Ivanovic to Zabaleta is a particularly perplexing one.

      Only Lukaku out for me.

May take Hazard out next week for Silva or Yaya.

Cech and Benteke staying in my squad.

It may well, but until he's nailed on I can't afford to have him in the squad. Dzeko and Lukaku is a bit too much risk for a front 3, don't you think?

      I did exactly that:

      Ivanovic --> Shaw

Lukaku --> RVP (I played this week with 4.0m spare)

A Southampton defender could pay off well over the season I think

Lescott is tempting, although a ticking time bomb. More attracted by attacking threat with my defenders though. Sunderlands new full back is definitely pencilled in my squad, he looks like he could be a 5 goals a season man.

Kompany and Nastasic both out it looks like so you would be safe for at least the next 2, easy weeks for Man City. Zabaleta though if you want long term. And did you see his strike from 30 yards on the volley?!?! May be a 1 off but he could have goals in him

What I am saying is that you shouldn't take a hit unless you really have to. I was looking at a possible back line of Chester-Turner jagielka, so I did something about it.

Look at it this way, if you do get rid of Ivan you can save a transfer next week for the week after. You will still transfer out Ivan next week anyway. And Zabaleta is due a Cleanie I think.

So much scorn for people wildcarding....

Who is to say you are right and we are wrong? Apart from the fact you probably got a high score and we didn't... Most people are or will be taking hits and we can do the same when you play your wc but we will probably be a lot happier with out team than we are now, after all.. It's much easier to get it wrong in gw1.. We are not pathetic, stupid or lolworthy, we are making a call which may or not be the right one..

Nothing wrong with WC'ing early when you feel good about it. My personal view is simply that you should wait a little longer than GW1. After GW3 actually looks best. You have 3 weeks of stats to go on, can wait until after some of the internationals are over to finalise your transfers and just overall pick a team that is much more sound.

To be honest I think it is a decent time to wild card. The most uncertain time is GW1, you learn a lot and can really improve your team. Not that I am doing it.

It's a smart move WR....If somebody got 75 pts + in GW1 then a WC to try and best ensure a good GW2 (home/easy fixtures) and an overall rank of perhaps around 100k for the two GW's combined is in a strong position to maintain and build on that high rank....I only play with novelty teams so i'm not that bothered but for anybody wanting a good overall end of season score an early high rank is a great plus..Anytime between GW1-3 is fine if that is the strategy...

Sturridge- Liverpool have an easier schedule for goals at least, if not wins. Main center fwd

Then Soldado and Bony are a toss up..Swansea COULD perform well and Bony would be the man to lead that charge (Alongside Michu). Soldado in the same boat as Bony

Can someone clear something up about WC'ing for me? Say you play your WC and pick a player on Saturday night after he scored a hattrick and consequently rises 3 days in a row. On the 4th day you transfer him out again still on your wildcard to upgrade to someone else. Do you get the profit or not?

Apart from the fact the players you actually want will likely be increasing in value as well, you can use it to save yourself money on players falling in price too though.

If you have a player at the price you bought them at like 5.0m, while on a wildcard you can sell them before they drop to 4.9m then buy them back. Maybe they are suspended for 1 game but you want to keep them.

Also note players can only go up 0.3m in a week so the max profit you can make is made when they rise 0.2m, you don't need to wait for the third rise. It's a poor use of a wildcard, they should be about earning you a bunch of points. Unless several players get really big scores the week before and others get injured/banned and NEED to be sold you will find it hard to make much money.

You can make good money by just making transfers early in the GW, it's risky with injuries and team news. Chasing good players early on is what ppl do, so if you get in early on them that accumulates to maybe 0.2 per transfer.

WCs seem best for me in the late double game weeks the FA Cup throws up, they can push you to a triple digit GW.

I think it all has to depend on where you stand after 3 weeks. If you have done great with your team, no reason to wildcard. If you are however lagging behind after 3 subpar weeks, you need to do something about it.
