He’s well travelled. He’s multi-lingual. He’s just 19 points behind me. Despite my best start to a Fantasy Football season in living memory, Granville is right on my tail. In this latest episode of the ScoutCast, Granville takes delight in taunting me by wrapping his tongue around every “Pochettino” with ease, leaving me to struggle like Paul Merson with a mouth ulcer.

In between the mispronunciations, myself and the “cosmopolitan Manc” get heated about Robin Van Persie, rinse through the Gameweek 1 bandwagons, preview the weekend’s action and welcome the flying start made by this season’s ScoutCast team. It’s breathless stuff, squeezed into a low fat 40 minutes.

    Evening Gents,

    What's the common consensus on Paulinho, I see he bagged tonight, I put him in instead of Nolan from the start. Bad move or am I Mourinho's offspring?

    Also how do RVP'ers plan on getting rid of the Mr Anelka now he's spat his dummy out over the death of his hamster (slightly harsh I know but it's late!). I don't see any ready made replacements in and around his price range Cornelius, Gayle possibilities but not ideal. Money may need to be raised elsewhere to upgrade him. What are people's thoughts on Bent?

        Sky like Paulinho. Gave him the MoM when he had a pretty ordinary game. Can't fathom it.
        Bought him in as a gamble and having watched 2 games I know he's a chewing gum red herring.

        MC - cheers muppet. 84 points and I wouldn't say that's a bad side.

        Agree 4-4-2 not ideal but Anelkas forced my hand this week and don't fancy Kim against the noisy neighbours. Don't think it's worth a 8 point hit to change Anelka as I've already swapped Terry>Zaba.

        Paulinho is my gamble...

      First off - Bad formation, don't think you should be going in with 4 defenders. Toure wont keep a cleansheet this week and you'd be better off benching Turner (Cardiff plays ManC).

      Paulinho supposedly plays deep but then there's talk of him playing Lamp-esque..to be honest it's too early to say anything about the Tottenham midfield yet so personally I'm staying away. Dzeko is too much of a risk especially in the long term. Jovetic and Negredo weren't bought to cover him.

      Since Anelka is on your bench maybe just should free up some cash so you could upgrade next week? You could transfer Toure out for Clyne/Shaw and save 0.5 too.

        Fully agree regarding the formation but I could see Everton, City and Norwich (Turner) getting CS and with this new BAP system it's a gamble that could pay off, albeit I may end up with the wooden spoon.

        Away working so haven't had much chance to watch any of the opening games, thought Paulinho would okay further up than it seems he has been.
        Agree with Dzeko point but the noises coming out City are he's the main man this year so we shall see but at 7.5m I'm willing to take a chance to accommodate RVP.

        Fully intend to use my WC at GW4 if my gambles don't pay off.

    front three are RVP, Dzeko and Giroud

    My transfer after GW2 will be Dzeko to RvW, then after GW3 Giroud to Tekkers?

      Many people will beg,steal and borrow for that front line in FPL at the moment. Giroud has proved,I think he'll do well; RvP is RvP and Dzeko is flavour of the week having had some positive things about his starting spot said by Pelligrini,in a City side capable of running riot against anyone.

      I think you would be silly to meddle with that lot just yet,give it another 2-3 weeks at least.

    hi guys, I thought I was all set on keeping my free transfer this week but this anelka news has rocked my ship!

    what would you do to get rid of Anelka as my bench isn't looking too pretty, I could play ward and bench Anelka or do I take a 4 point hit and go

    Hazard and Anelka -> nolan and Dzeko/lambert?

    any help would be awesome, thanks.

      Bench him and play Ward. We have nothing concrete on Anelka's future yet and if you have to sell Hazard just to pay for a worthy replacement up front-don't bother,at least until it emerges that Anelka is gonzo.

          I mean this is just pie in the sky type guessing but I imagine no longer than 2GW's? If it is a death of a close friend/family then that gives him two weeks to recover. I just think it's worth giving it a week or two,but you run the risk if losing .2 or so on him to be fair.

      If I had Oscar I'd be inclined to keep him-many people seemingly 'in the know' seen to believe he'll be hovering around the No.10 spot for the lions share of the season;he's cheaper than Hazard too. Oscar for me.

      Just to confuse u even more....I'd say Hazard. He's been a bit unlucky IMO.

      He's their best/2nd best player and will play the lions share of games. He's 2nd in line for pens and when he hits form he is devastating.

      Like Oscar too, just not as much as Haz

      Got to think that the smart money is on Hazard outscoring Oscar the rest of the way through the season. Also, I think Oscar risks being dropped back into midfield in a 4-3-3 and I don't think there is anything in this Mourinho hates Juan Mata theory.

      If I had had that kind of bad luck I would most definitely WC.

      The purpose of WC's are often overlooked on here I find-the way I look at it? If you have AT LEAST 3 transfers that are being forced upon you (particularly through injury) and there are also AT LEAST 2 other transfers you want to make for budgetary,form or other valid reasons-do it.

      WC are not simply a tool to build a fashionable side;they are also there in times of emergency or fantasy catastrophe-if your team needs 4/5 transfers to remain competitive,catch some risers/avoid some falls,now is as good a time as any imo.

      Soldado. Over hyped B/W unproven yet in this league.
      Benteke...Wow a total surprise to me in an improved Villa outfi.t even though the clues were there at the end of last season.

      Mine is Soldado, Aguero, Dzeko. I backed Dzeko that he would start the opening few games. Will ship him out for Bony when the eventual rotation comes. I took a punt on Soldado and what with the extra additions to Tootenham, looks like it'll work out. Aguero could make a mockery of RVP's price or he could be rotated with all the others.

      Disappointed I didn't get Tekkers early doors, but quite happy with my lot.

    I plumped for Kompany over Zab for his nailedonness, with no update on Komp, Zab seems the move but it's just to crabby for me.

    Thoughts on Fulham line up this season

    Last season, the Berbatov - Ruiz setup prove themselves to be extremely effective especially since Ruiz assisted most of Berbatov goals. If Berbatov is asked to tucked inside to accomodate Bent, expect his goal to decrease as he will be the one doing all the linking up.

    Do remember that Bent just came off a season barely playing and spent the pre-season training alone. So it will definitely take him some time to adjust to the new team.

    The signing of Parker would allow Jol to form a double pivot with both Parker & Sidwell anchoring the midfield. This would free up some of the defensive shackle on the front 4 players which would be Duff/Kasami/Taarabt/Kacaniklic on the flanks and up top with Fulham's strikers.

    A tactical switch to a 4-3-3 formation would definitely be possible as well with the double pivot of Parker & Sidwell. This would allow both Fulham fullbacks; Riether & Riise/Richardson license to bomb forward though my bet would be on Riise being allowed to move up with Riether tucking in.

    It would than be left to Ruiz/Kasami/Taarabt to take over the advanced midfielder position. Tasked with the responsibility of linking up both midfield to the final third of the pitch.

    Up front than, it would be Bent/Berbatov leading the line with Duff/Kacaniklic/Dejagah/Taarabt on the sides.

    Duff is currently their second best player after Berbatov in terms of producing the goals and assists so I coudln't see Duff being dropped for the erractic Taarabt or for Ruiz whom often neglect his defensive chorse.

    The standout fantasy choice for me atm would definitely be Berbatov/Duff and Bent once he get match fit and a cheeky punt on Risse if he's given the freedom to bomb forward with double pivot of sidwell & parker covering for him.

      Agree with a lot of this. Only problem is once Bent settles in the squad, Berbatov will be utilized deeper in the field, where he was proven to be ineffective from a fantasy perspective. Bent pushes Berbatov out of fantasy contention for me.

        I doubt it will affect Berbatov much. Berbatov was the top goal scorer for Spurs in both the 06-07 & 07-08 seasons partnering upfront with both Robbie Keane and Defoe. While Robbie Keane is a different type of player as Bent, Defoe certainly is!
