Everton have offered further details on the hamstring injury sustained by Mikel Arteta in last night’s 1-1 draw with Birmingham. The Club have announced that, following scans, the Spaniard appears to have suffered a grade two tear.

That indicates that Arteta may have suffered damage a number of the muscles in the area where “the fibres have been pulled apart but they haven’t completely ruptured.”

Although Everton have stated that “It is not yet known how long the Spanish midfielder will be out for”, sources suggest that such an injury normally carries an absence of 2-6 weeks, others claim 4-6 weeks. At this stage, the safe bet would be to assume that Arteta seems likely to face around a month on the sidelines. That would see Arteta miss league fixtures against Fulham, Aston Villa and Wolves, with a possible return against Blackburn on April 16 – gameweek 33.

Over 100,000 managers in the Fantasy Premier League game have transferred in the midfielder over the past two gameweeks, with Arteta’s price rising from 8.0 to 8.3 as a result.

Arteta’s absence from the Everton lineup will come as a major blow for David Moyes. In Fantasy terms, it could now bring Seamus Coleman back into his starting lineup having started on the bench in the previous two matches, while Leighton Baines will be expected to assume full set-piece duties and possibly spot-kick responsibilities. Everton are yet to win a penalty in the league this season.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Foster, Stockdale
    Baines, Coleman, Kolarov, Djourou, Kelly
    Nani, VDV, Arteta, A Young, Nasri
    Tevez, Berbatov, Wingie
    Bank 0.0m

    Plan is Arteta, Nani & Tevez -> Lampard, Adam & RVP (8 point hit)

    Good plan?

      i maybe hold off Lampard first.
      Adam and RVP look good but would wait till after the FA Cup game.

      I don't like your def 🙂

      i have kelly and i don't need him for 2 weeks so he's ok
      but 2 everton?

      well looks like you really want lamps and rvp, so i don't think you have many options left. i think chelsea will keep a cleansheet against man city so tevez is a good guess to get rid of

        Adam & RVP look like good moves to me. IMO I think x2 Everton defenders is overkill though. With the injury to Arteta it may open the door back up for Coleman to start (I have him too!) but, with Baines constant threat of crosses etc, in your position I would probably hold onto him rather than Coleman. Maybe some Chelski coverage in defense? Coleman > Luiz perhaps?

          Just noticed I put Wingie - I actually have Zigic!

          Took a gamble on Everton for last week's doubles and decent run of fixtures - Baines & Foster -> Luiz & Cech for GW32 is the plan at the mo.

          Hmmm, I guess Lampard could wait - if i do then Zigic/Kolarov would have to start this week(not great). Lampard has a fair chance of outscoring both by >4 this week given form, plus it would mean aI can get the other 2 Chelskis is in time for GW32 without further hits. Thoughts?

    Current team:

    Foster, Begovich
    Coleman, Djourou, Simpson, Kelly, Kolarov
    Lampard, Nani, Nasri, Dempsey, VDV
    Rooney, Zigic, Tevez

    Assuming the Ars/Manu game doesn't end in a draw this week, worth an 8 point hit to do the following:

    Nasri -> Adam
    Dempsey -> O'Hara
    Zigic -> Van Persie

    ?
