Sunday offers a couple of four o’clock encounters, with City facing a trip to newly promoted Cardiff, alongside a lip-smacking encounter between Europa League rivals, Tottenham and Swansea at the Lane.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side will be looking to build on the fine 4-0 win over Newcastle on Monday to inflict a second defeat on new boys Cardiff. Malky MacKay’s outfit failed to make an impression on the West Ham defence on the opening day but may fancy their chances against a City side without the services of skipper Vincent Kompany.

In North London, Swansea will arrive having suffered a 4-1 home defeat to champions United but boosted by their midweek Europa League victory which saw them put five past their Romanian opponents. They’ll meet a Spurs side also buoyed by five goals in Europe and looking to add to their three points gained at Palace last weekend, a victory that came courtesy of Roberto Soldado’s cooly taken spot-kick. All eyes will be on the Spaniard today as he sports the Fantasy armband for many.

The team news is in and as is follows:

Manuel Pellegrini makes just one change to the team that swept aside Newcastle on Monday evening. The City boss brings in Javi Garcia for the injured Vincent Kompany at the back and keeps faith in Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero up top, with Alvaro Negredo warming the bench once again. Matija Nastasic is fit enough for the subs bench as he steps up his recovery from an ankle injury.

The Bluebirds also make just a single alteration to last week’s team. Andrew Taylor returns at left-back after serving a one-match suspension, with Declan Jon dropping out. Fraizer Campbell leads the line again, though new boy Andreas Cornelius makes the bench after an ankle complaint.

At White Hart Lane, Andre Villas-Boas rolls out a 4-3-3 and hands Etienne Capoue a first start for the hosts alongside Mousa Dembele and Paulinho in central midfield, as Gylfi Sigurdsson shifts to the bench. Andros Townsend replaces the injured Aaron Lennon on the right after impressing in the midweek Europa League win over Dinamo Tblisi.

Michael Laudrup makes a couple of alterations from the side that started against Man United last week. Fit-again Jonathan de Guzman and Pablo Hernandez replace Leon Britton and Nathan Dyer, with the latter remaining sidelined with a hamstring complaint. Michu leads the line again with Jonjo Shelvey ion “the holeâ€, meaning Wilfried Bony warms the bench once more for the Swans.

Our Dugout Discussion chatroom is open and available throughout today’s games for those in search of some real-time chatter as events unfold.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Which promoted side defense impressed you the most? All 3 did impress and Palace were unexpectedly good. Hull look like they've got the park the bus trick sorted, but they need to score first to apply that and that will be tricky. Palace were surprisingly disciplined and dint compromise their attack either,. very impressive. Cardiff look good as a whole though.. look well disciplined and should do good at home. Cardiff Palace Hull for me in that order.

what is the big deal with the new BAPS system.

I see everyone is talking about getting CB from the top 4 because of the new baps system.

can someone that understands the new baps system explain It to the rest of us so we can take it into account making transfers?

is it making a big difference this season?

It means that defenders who keep CS's are getting more rewarded than before - and effectively can compete with strikers in a 1-0 win (or any x-0 win so long as no-one doubles up on goals/assists).

This is big because now CS's are almost worth an extra 1-3 points.

Well Soldado scored the winner today and Walker is getting the 3 Baps, that would never happen under the old system. Defs who stay quiet and keep a clean sheet seem to get 9-10 BPS which is sometimes better than what you get for scoring. A clean sheet is now regularly worth 8 points rather than 6 so big defs is the way to go.

All of last season the forwards almost got assured 3bps for scoring..or at least 2bps...The new way of working it out is making it so that defenders are almost assured the 3 baps for CS's''or at least one of them is...and that's as much as we need to know...

the cbs have more chance for bp because of the pass completion rate. they often pass the ball to each other so high pass completion.

so I guess the theory is that you can often gain 6pts with a cleanie and and some more with bp... not sure if it's worth it though...

Are u sure about City DF? Seems that everyone's prediction about City being more attacking and possibly leaky at the back is bearing fruit.....tho obviously Kompany absence played a big part tonight

It the obvious choice , certain to be given his home debut.

Peri had to give last years players a chance first off , and could hardly change things after thrashing newcastle. Now he going to unleash the beast

    Allright to save transfer?

    Mignolet - Marshall
    Ward - Turner - Toure - Coleman - Chester
    Silva - Snodgrass - Walcott - Mirallas - Kim
    RVP - Soldado - Rodriguez

    Bank: 0.5

Arsenal fans, how secure is Rosicky's recent run of starts? Likely to make way for Wilshere for the derby?

Thinking of Hazard > Rosicky or Caz. Don't fancy Giroud for the game, Vert and Dawson should keep him quiet, though Giroud could open up more space for the midfielders.

giroud is a season keeper for me, unless arsene choose poldi over him (which is unlikely), or arsenal sign a big striker (which is impossible)

My midfield is Haz Walcott Mirallas Nolan Kim. If I look at the games after the blank, I don't really fancy Coutinho/Silva over Hazard, does it make any sense to keep Haz & Benteke, do Terry -> Coleman/Clyne and play 4 defenders? Just feels like I'd be putting too much emphasis on one GW if I ditch Haz.
