With leagues across the Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Sky Sports and Sun Dream Team games as well as a link up with PlayON there is plenty of opportunity for our community to get involved across a wide range of competitions.  In our latest Fantasy Football Scout round up, we profile this week’s league leaders.

Fantasy Premier League

A Gameweek 2 score of 55 was enough for Stumanchu to retain top spot in our  Fantasy Premier League (FPL) mini-league. He now has 186 points and climbs to third place overall thanks to his captaincy of Roberto Soldado and eight point hauls from Olivier Giroud and Kolo Toure. Tang Window, who captained Edin Dzeko, takes second place and sits four points behind our leader, while James Martin, who is in third place on 177 points, was another to captain Dzeko last week; he also had Tottenham’s Kyle Walker amongst his other top performers. The code to join our FPL league, which is top of the league of leagues, is 1580-1106.

Ross Gillard, who scored 66 points this week,  is now sitting top of our Fantasy Football Scout Members league in the FPL game. He has a total score of 175 and sits in 130 place overall, with his decision to captain Giroud proving decisive. Sam Gillespie is equal on points with Ross, but lies in second after taking a points hit in Gameweek 2. Third placed James Floyd is close behind on 172 points – James’s leftfield selection of Sunderland’s Emmanuele Giaccherini, who accrued 9 points, proved a smart move.

Last week’s Fantasy Football Scout Contributors and Moderators league leader Mark was among those left disappointed by Robin Van Persie. His resolute allegiance to the Dutchman saw him slump to fifth, with last year’s Contributors league victor and no-RVP advocate Andy moving to joint first alongside Green Windmill. Torres Magic hangs on to his third place with a total score of 144, although Granville is hot on his heels with a score of 139.

Sky Sports Fantasy Football

With a total points haul of 269 Josie O’Neil moves from second to first in our Fantasy Football Scout league in the Sky Sports Fantasy Football game. Mary Humberstone moves from third to second with a score of 264 and last week’s league leader Leanne Dean falls to joint third with Nick Whitrid on 260 points. Leanne’s decision to field exclusively Chelsea and Aston Villa players is set to see her either slip further or force her to make several transfers this week. As with last week, we continue to top Sky’s league of leagues.

The winner of our Sky league wins £1,000. To join, visit Sky Sports Fantasy Football and key in League Name: FFScout, League Code: 8000112.

The Sun Dream Team

Heavy investment in Arsenal and Tottenham helped Lee Walpole secure first place in our Sun Dream Team league. He has nine players from the North London rivals, with Tottenham striker Roberto Soldado’s 28 points  proving vital to his  points tally of 196. Charles Mouzon, who at one point last season was number one in the FPL game, is in second with 188 points thanks to Daniel Sturridge’s 34 points and similar investment in Tottenham’s assets. In third lies Tim Mongiat on 187 points. Tim’s star players include Soldado and Arsenal’s Kieron Gibbs. To join visit  The Sun Dream Team, league name: Fantasy Football Scout, password: ReWOZhn1T1 and PIN: 8061654.

PlayOn £2 Game

In our exclusive Fantasy Football Scout PlayON £2 Game Jamie Boyd claimed first place and winnings of £87 thanks to points hauls from Sturridge, David Silva, Charlie Adam and Ryan Shawcross. Andrew Foskett grabbed second place and winnings of £58, and third-placed Karl Pickard enjoys £34.51 haul. In case you missed them, our PlayON player picks for this weekend can be found right here.

On a serious note, think there are signs the City v Hull game will not be the thrashing many people expect. Very early days but Hull haven't conceded since Huddlestone & Livermore came on in midfield in the 59th minute of the Chelsea game. Midtable or better on several defensive stats including shots in box, big chances conceded. Hull could easily park the bus with five in midfield like Cardiff did, that's the what Bruce has built the side to do.

Silva owner here so not biased either way, but given he'll be getting a medium sized slice of a potentially disappointingly sized pie, will be unlikely to captain him over Walcott.

Huddlestone looked to be playing pretty deep in the last game, even before going down to 10 men (annoyingly, since I chose him over Brady). Maybe he's their answer to Medel. They could become a decent defensive unit I suppose but Cardiff had a lot of good support from the fans too.

Yeah, he could become very important to them, not just as defensive cover but the deep lying playmaker pinging his pearly long balls to their wide men.

Started thinking about Hull's defence when I was moaning in the deadzone about picking a Cardiff GK and DEF based on them having the best defensive record in the champo, but saw them concede 4 goals in their first 2 goals. Someone replied that he reckons they'll go for the win in home games like they did against City, and so their attack will benefit and their defence suffer. Whereas he reckoned Bruce's team was built to grind out 1-0 wins a la Norwich.

Ah, that could be a useful insight. There's definitely value to be had somewhere among the promoted sides and it's well worth monitoring. Cardiff have had a bit of a baptism of fire with their early fixtures so maybe they too will tighten up at the back.

Yeah exactly, I think the irony is that positions such as the 4th/5th defs and the 2nd GK are generally of least concern to FPL managers when they possibly deserve the most attention, because they are the lowest priority for transfers and hence you're stuck with whomever you choose. In retrospect my Brayford choice was dumb, luckily I have a WC to fix that or maybe a transfer if I get desperate enough, or hope he gets into the team.

Not dumb, just unlucky! At least you thought about your squad players - and I couldn't agree more, they are key to building a successful FPL team. Unfortunately, I have a tendency to micromanage the bench a bit, and still end up squandering transfers on 4m priced players! Must learn from previous mistakes...

Oh yeah definitely making every effort to learn, already counted several mistakes I avoided from thinking "I've been there before...". I forgot to mention the 5th mid position, but looks like Kim at least is a quality player, now we just need some points from him.

No doubt that they'll park the bus but constant defending is tiring and mistakes will be made. Chelsea to the foot off the break in second half so I don't think that proves too much. 3-0 would be my call.

Yeah Chelsea did seem to cruise a bit in the second half, dunno how much was conserving energy and how much was due to better defensive organization by Hull though. Hull were shocking defensively in the first 20 minutes and it got better from there.

      Rate my team review GW2

(you can see GW1 review here: http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2013/08/23/moving-target-jason-puncheon/?hc_page=11#hc_comment_5357376)

So after wildcarding the RMT team loaded up on Liverpool and Crystal Palace. The model is clearly predicting big Liverpool results (or it is mispredicting the expected roles in the goals the attackers will have - i.e. predicting more than a goal and assist per goal - if that was possible).

      The team for the week:

      Boruc
      Figueroa/ Walker/ Zabaleta
      Gerrard/ Brady/ Coutinho/ Walcott
      RvP(c)/ Crouch/ Sturridge

It must be noted that the model predicted big things for Crouch - who duly went on to do nothing. He did have 14 touches in the box, 3 attempts on goal (one on target) and created a chance.

As far as player selection goes - the GK and defenders look solid, with Zabalata being the only expensive disappointment.

Midfield once again was a disaster - and I think this is a theme across the fantasyverse. If you look at top scoring players in the transfer page only 4 midfielder names appear (and only 3 for the gameweek). The big plus was the selection of Brady. The top-scoring midfielder for the week. But big money was spent on Coutinho and Gerrard which resulted in nothing much (and a human player would probably have had Silva over one of these). Walcott got an assist which was decent.

Upfront the big disappointment was RvP - which the model predicted would be the top scorer of the week. Crouch as mentioned was just not far behind in the predictions. Sturridge did come through though.

Total points for the week was 54 - better than average and lifted the team around 216,000 in the world.

Combing human and RMT intervention I feel would've added the assist from Silva less a CS from Gerrard for 2 extra points. Perhaps another expensive midfielder over the other Liverpool mid but none of those did better than a CS performance.

This week the team currently stands at

      Speroni
      Zabaleta/ Collins/ Ward
      Gerrard/ Jedinak/ Coutinho/ Walcott(c)
      RvP/ Crouch/ Sturridge

      Bench: Boruc Walker Brady Figueroa

No transfers made as the only adjustment the model wanted was Brady to Koren and since it's not using either of them this GW - I can move the transfer over to next week.

A lot riding on a Palace CS and there being goals in United/Liverpool match.

Soldado got much more service when siggy was in the hole. Eriksen should play right behind soldado imo. And paulinho deeper.

No didn't manage to catch it, but I get what you're saying. Still, Capoue and Sandro would be a devastating partnership in midfield! 😀

Realistically I reckon AVB will revert from 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 depending on opposition, with Dembele, Paulinho and Eriksen starting in the latter.

Liverpool closing in on signing two centre backs i.e. Ilori and Sakho... despite Toure's "miraculous" recovery you'd have to say that has ended his chance of being the season keeping bargain we thought.

Also like many I had my eye on Paulinho but you'd have to say the signings of Erikssen and Lamela could limit his chances to play "in the hole". Also if generously priced we could be looking at them instead.

Yep I really don't see why they have signed 2 and not 1 CB. That suggests that CB is a position they have targeted for improvement, I expect Sakho to partner Agger and Ilori to be for the future. A rotated Kolo is of no use to us.

Or not to stir anything but maybe Agger to Barca is back on the cards for some reason...
