The draw for the first round of the 2019/20 FFS Cup FFS Cup

As the masses eagerly await the qualifying results for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IV, there’s still the matter of its sister competition to deal with. The Members’ Paddy Power Cup is now at the Round of 16 stage going into Gameweek 30, and as we announce those ties we’ll take a look at how the last round panned out…

If you take a look at the full set of results you’ll see some very mediocre scores (an average less than 37), and it’s a double-whammy for most of those eliminated this week, as it leaves them with no cup competition left to compete in.

There was one drawn tie in the round, as Alchi-traz‘s superior overall rank, sees him progress at the expense of Vanilla Kush F.C. His opponent in the next round will be kapitidave, who sneaked past fellow Dave, Dave Boozle, 33 – 32 in another closely contested tie.

Ten points clear as top-scorer for the week was canetoad, who easily beat Ghost 56 – 32 in what was the widest margin of victory in the round. The Round of 16 draw has him pitted against the joint-second highest-scorer for the week (with the second-widest margin of victory), Touch of Class, who beat Walky Talky 46 – 26.

The draw has also thrown out some other great ties, as the two top-ranked Fantasy Managers in the competition have been drawn out together. Zophar, sitting 26th in the world, reached this stage after a nail-biting 36 – 35 victory over Zod. His opponent, oi keano, who is only two points and five places behind Zophar in the overall standings, had far less difficulty in dumping roversnick 46 – 28 out of the competition.

The main rival for the ‘glamour tie of the round’, has the third and fifth highest-ranked Fantasy Managers squaring off. That’s FFS Cup III Champion and 135th in the world, Gooner dave (luckily guaranteed a first round berth in the other cup competition), up against top 1000 contender FC Super-Hans.

All eight ties can be viewed right here.

Good luck to the 16 of you going for a Quarter-Final spot. I’ll bring news of the results, accompanied with the Quarter-Final draw, a few days before the GW31 deadline.

Once again, the prizes for the competition, provided by Paddy Power, are a free £150 bet for the winner, £75 for the runner-up and £50 for third place.

If you’re not with Paddy Power yet, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10. (All offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.)

Hi all, been away from here for a while. This has probably been discussed a fair bit and sorry if it has but my question is...

    Fabregas or Lampard?

(I have no Arsenal or Chelsea currently. Djourou out and sold RVP during the farce surrounding his injury).

Colemans a little bit of a risk, i wouldn't bring him in when youve got lots of better nailed on choices,

      Walker, spurs defender, etc.

Id say keep Zigic for his next double, imo.

    Foster (Begovic)

    Huth, Baines, Coleman (Djouro, Kolorov)
    Nani, Adam, Young, Nasri, Nola
    Tevez, Rooney (Martins)

Any transfers needed? Im thinking Tevez to VP on a hit (already used my free).

I might not get the 4 pts back this week, but should do easily (I hope) over the next 3 or 4 GWs, esp as Tevez has a blank in GW33. RvP has 5 games, Tevez 3 (including Che and Liv away) over the next 4 GWs.

Need to take a couple of hits anyway to get the team I want for GW32/33, so might as well take one now.

You know what I would like? I'd like to be able to have a bigger bench, but that didn't have to be filled.

so you can either spend it on a fantastic 11 and no-one on the bench, or fill up with cheap players which you can speculate with.

It would also let you sell a player early in the week to avoid a drop, and buy another later when injuries are clear. It would be a little bit more about money, but football is these days!

No, I think you should get the points from your bench, but only half, so it pays to have a reasonable bench

I think that's a bit too generous. It still pays to have good people for a week in which you have a spate of injuries.

Camzy was advocating the cheapest bench option earlier in the season. I wonder how he's doing after all the recent injuries?

I suppose this week i could take a 4 point hit for say nasri and a bench defender out to bring in just Lampard for example?

        maybe even the whole team?
So you have a certain amount to spend, then you can buy as many or as few players as you like??

You might not get the 4 pts back this week, but should do easily (I hope) over the next 3 or 4 GWs, esp as Tevez has a blank in GW33. RvP has 5 games, Tevez 3 (including Che and Liv away) over the next 4 GWs.

Hmmmmmmmm. I have a feeling that Arsenal may not have the greatest of games, they seem to lack a lot of attacking fluency without Fabs and Walcott, Tevez is one of those guys that will bite you the second you sell him. It's a move I'm considering definitely, but not this week.

Nice man. Haven't had a thing today. Oscar Wells was a bit unlucky but other than that it's been a poor effort from moi

    Team for this week:
    Foster
    Coleman, Walker, Huth
    Silva, Nani, Young, VDV, Lamps
    RVP (c), Zigic

    Bench: Stockdale, Rafael, Bendtner, RJ

ANy obvious problems? I've done one transfer already so anything else would require a hit. I feel like I have ten good players with only Zigic being the issue. Sub 8.0 striker worth a -4 for the week?

Lads, does this look ok for the w/e?

    Foster
    Coleman•Huth•Bardsley
    Arteta•Nani•VDV•Nasri
    Tevez•Berbatov•Zigic

    Subs: Dorrans•Djourou•Rafael

Was thinking Tev/Berb ➜ RVP with free transfer

Arteta's out for a while yet. Sort him before your strikers.
