Injuries

The orderly queue to Everton’s treatment room has grown further with two more updates from Goodison in the last 24-hours. As David Moyes begins to contemplate another spell without striker Louis Saha, he now has to digest the fact that Jack Rodwell’s season is looking under threat, while Seamus Coleman is also a concern for the visit of Villa in a week’s time.

Rodwell is undoubtedly the major concern for Moyes. The rumoured Β£20 million target for Man United suffered an ankle injury in the 2-1 win over Fulham on Saturday which saw him withdraw from the England U21 squad – reports now suggest that the injury is far worse than expected. According to the latest claims, Rodwell’s could even sit out the rest of the season. The midfielder has been sent to see a specialist and there are fears that he could be out for at least a month.

Everton’s woes continued with the news that Coleman has withdrawn from the Republic of Ireland squad for their Euro 2012 qualifier against Macedonia this weekend – he also has an ankle injury, again sustained in Saturday’s win over Fulham.

As we mentioned yesterday, David Moyes is already without Marouane Fellaini for the season, while Mikel Arteta faces another month out and Louis Saha’s season may also have come to an end. With Rodwell joining their ranks and Coleman presumably a doubt for the Goodison clash with Villa in gameweek 31, the Everton squad now looks pretty ragged.

Given the absentees in midfield, Jermain Beckford, at 4.9 in the Fantasy Premier Leauge, is beginning to look assured of starts up front with Tim Cahill set for a support role. Leon Osman’s place and responsibility as the creative playmaker is also looking nailed-on, while both Phil Neville and John Heitinga could remain in the engine room. David Moyes may even have to put some faith in Diniyar Bilyaletdinov – it’s got that bad.

In Fantasy terms, it’s Beckford and Cahill who could emerge from this spate of injuries with boosted potential – their returns however will depend greatly on whether the likes of Osman and Leighton Baines down the left, can provide the ammunition.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I agree, plan is to take him out for chelsea defender over next couple weeks. Such a poor player. Saying that he place does look pretty solid now with all these injuries.

    Hi lads,

Whats peoples thoughts on doubling up on Chelsea defence? Not normally a fan of doing it but could afford Terry and Luiz..

    Current backline is

    Terry - Rafael - Coleman - Bardsley - Simpson

SO coudl do Rafael to Luiz?

Already have A.Young and don't fancy getting Walker (popular choice). 1 Villa is enough for me!

They're also still watching Manuel Neuer (Schalke) and René Adler (Leverkusen). Neuer is the better keeper - good positional play, unruffled under pressure. Adler gets injured a lot, but is also quality. A United fan as a boy, Adler also has a special clause written into his contract that allows him to leave Leverkusen for €24 million - but only if he's joining Ferguson & the Glazers.

Any of the top five German keepers (I'd add Tim Wiese, Roman Weidenfeller and Freiburg's young talent Oliver Baumann) would walk into the England team at the moment.

    A. Am I being cynical about Coleman's "injury" in that he is simply missing the international game so he is fine for Everton v Villa 2 April?

    B. Is it worth taking out Djourou in GW33 for another Arsenal defender?

    C. Is is worth taking out A Young for a Chelsea midfielder in GW33, (although I cannot afford Lampard)?

    Thanks.

On the subject of players pulling out of internationals, apparently
on 19 separate occasions Ryan Giggs turned out for Manchester United in their next match after missing Wales games.

This must be a record, though S Gerrard is probably not fine behind...

Can't really blame Giggs. Apart from Euro 2004 (I think it was) we've not had a hope of qualifying for anything.

For a player of his quality, traipsing around Europe in a pretty piss poor team to just get beaten couldn't have been much fun.

    Hart (Szczesny)
    Smalling Coleman Carr (Kelly, Djourou)
    Nani Nolan Young Nasri Adam
    Tevez Rooney Saha
    1.0 in bank

I like it. Im going to have an very similar team. Im still debating whether to take out Young or Nani for Lampard. Young has great fixtures and plays as a striker. If he missed a pen two GW's ago & hit the bar the next so we could have been looking at some good scores from him. I have Utd covered with Rooney and with Valencia back Nani is shifted to the left where he isn't as influential. But everyone has Nani so if he scores big, it will hurt.

The one I mentioned which will be huge in the west Cosast of America and also the inevitable collapse of one side of Island beside Southern Europe and Africa,Name escapes me but that will send a millions of tonnes of earth into the ocean in one go sending a massive tidal wave towards the west coast of europe, Uk, Ireland and all the way over to America.

don't really want to get into all that mayan stuff... there's a lot of misinterpretation on that subject. It all started when some academic mistranslated some mayan texts in the 60s.

                    Champ,

I suggest you read the article... it's not what it seems. This is a critical article even if the address might suggest otherwise. Reversal of magnetic poles is not the same as reversal of north and south. Magnetic poles are the ones that make the lava move like it moves underneath the crust. They say that the poles might move because out solar system aligning with the middle of the milky way, which is around the same time as the 13th baktun cycle in the mayan calendar ends.

Fair enough MAD, I thought he was referring to a reversal of north/south which has happened plenty of times throughout history. I've never looked much into the mayans "prophecies", didn't realise the 2 were connected.

The alignment of the planets the Sun and the centre of the Solar System they claim will end the world..........happens every year on that date.

And the magnetic polls never turn on and off as far as ive read. That would mean the iron core in the centre of the earth would too revolving which is what creates the the magnetism.

Can't agree with you enough here DB. Glenn Beck is on the hit list if i get a terminal disease, along with Bill O'Reilly and Piers Morgan.

            We agree!:D

Whats funny and disturbing about Glenn Beck is there is an interview on You Tube where he talks about how he became a Mormon (Yes he is one of those fruitcakes) . He admits in the interview he went for weeks thought it was aload of crap , then because his sick child liked it there but as he admits more so cos the pastor dude got him in contact with an agent to revive his career he is now a Mormon!

Id love to know the proportion of people who listen to him talk his gospel (the irony) that A. Thought he was a Christian like his conservative audience & B. Know he freely admitted he didnt believe but joined it to aid his career and now acts as if he is American loving Christian.

He knows how to play to an audience anyway

Bill O'Reilly is an absolute dickface. Oh, I hate that guy.

When Richard Dawkins went on his show, they could've said he was a professor, scientist, biologist, author, etc. etc. But he was just labeled "Athiest" as if they'd just dragged some muppet in off the street.

Whenever someone gets the better of him, he tells the producers to just turn to other guy's microphone off. Absolute bellend.

              lol so true
Love watching dawkins tear apart the fanatics, pointless though as facts and evidence hold no sway with them but great viewing none the less.

              Aye
I do love a clip or two of Bill getting his ass kicked.

His recent well God must exist cos you dont know how the tides work (when every man in that field does and many beyond ) was particularly funny.

Then he went on to "prove" God's existence by saying we didnt know how and where planets come from and were made -

You would think I guy who went to Harvard, Ya Harvard! could have watched one of the 1000s of shows in his lifetime describing how Stars, planets and moons all came into existence.

Unfortunately it's not only the crackpot rightists in the States who believe that drivel, Shintaro ishihara, the notorious governor of Tokyo was at it as well.

Can you prove it wasn't God? Ever since I brought Kolarov and Kolo Toure into my team late autumn, I started believing in God. And that He hates me very much.

There was a good clip from some US news station on Charlie Brooker's bit of 10 o'clock live last night. The anchorwoman went over to the expert who was saying there is no absolutely chance of radiation coming over to the US, the anchorwoman flipped out and wasn't having what he was saying at all.

Would really make me feel comfortable that I was getting balanced news from the station.

Haha, that was hysterical. The "Oh no, here we go again" kind of makes it seem like that happens quite a bit. πŸ™‚

I saw on the news that the French brought down a Libyan fighter jet.

That must have been one powerful distress flare.
