Arsene Wenger has given us a timely update on the injury situation at the Emirates, announcing that Cesc Fabregas, Abou Diaby, Alex Song and Theo Walcott could all return to contention in time for the gameweek 31 clash with Blackburn.

Speaking to Arsenal TV, Wenger sounded optimistic on their chances…

“It’s a long way to go, but at the moment they’re looking good.â€

The return of the midfield quartet will surely prove a huge positive for Arsenal’s title challenge, but for Fantasy Managers their availability could cause issues with rotation. The return of Walcott and Fabregas in particular, clouds the issue with Samir Nasri and Andrey Arshavin who will both be on the radar as we lead into Arsenal’s double fixture in gameweek 33.

That pairing have previously been vying for the starting role on the left flank, with Walcott operating on the right. While Arshavin has at times played second fiddle to the outstanding Nasri, the Russian’s current run of form will surely hand Wenger a selection poser. We could well see frequent rotation of Walcott, Nasri and Arshavin over Arsenal’s remaining matches then – denting the Fantasy potential of all three.

Cesc Fabregas seems set to emerge as smart acquisition yet again then, despite a faltering season which has seen him return just 3 goals to go with 10 assists to this point. Injury has obviously hampered his potential, but if Fabregas can make an eye-catching return against Blackburn, he will be firmly back in our thoughts for the season run-in, particularly if Wenger begins to shuffle elsewhere in his midfield.

In other injury news from the Emirates, Thomas Vermaelen has indicated that he is unlikely to see action this season…

“The chances that I will play another game this season are small…I can understand my manager when he says that my season is over: I have been out for seven months and I must fulfil a complete ‘pre-season.â€

The defender has been nursing an Achilles injury since September, leaving Wenger stretched for resources at the back; a situation worsened by the recent shoulder injury sustained by Johan Djourou. Arsenal did at least receive positive news on him this week – the Swiss international will not require surgery and the latest indicates that he will be targeting a return for the clash with United on May 1. Until then, Wenger looks set to persevere with Laurent Koscielny and Sebastien Squillaci at the back – not a pairing that encourages confidence or investment from Fantasy Managers.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

f**k him, he's dead to me (or at least until he pulls a brace out of his culo)

Wenger could do with a little more creativity, the fact that Nasri's output goes down when Cesc is in would lead, let's say, a David Moyes [Cahill] (or even a King Kenny [Kuyt]) to put a Samir Nasri up front to team with Van Persie. It would give a whiny little russian biyaatch the space on the left as well as a low-IQer like Walcott more definitive options on what to do with all that pace.

I'll be adding Robin...but not until the very last moment.

Howso? He's asked him to play everywhere else on the pitch...either because of injuries or because Rosicky has generally be shite. Technically he has all the tools of a Suarez, he can tightrope touchline or goaline, his toolbox is well stocked homie.

The logic behind this claim, is that the hot tea makes you sweat and that helps cool you off.

I see. I guess that makes sense.

I remember hearing about people taking salt tablets during a desert trek, and that too seemed counter-intuitive, but then when you factor salt-loss by sweat it suddenly becomes clear.

The body uses energy to raise cool drinks to the right temperature to process, warm drinks are already at a high enough temperature. Thus you absorb it quicker. It does work too from much personal experience.

In hot climates people eat spicy food and drink hot beverages to promote metabolism. If your body can process your foods and beverages without becoming hotter you are cooler in the long run. When you eat ice cream or drink iced beverages on a hot day your body will defeat your attempts by heating up to assimilate the cold. This does not mean that you need to drink boiling hot tea all summer long in fact tepid tea will do the same trick.

It doesn't 'heat' you up as such, it takes energy and time to raise the temperature to a level where you can benefit from the liquid. A room-temperature drink is processed much faster

Ah, I see. The way it was worded, it made it seem like your body actually heated up as a response to the cold drink.

Well one usually leads to the other. If your body temperature is high then drinking cold fluids cause the blood vessels in the stomach lining to contract sharply, making the fluid take longer to absorb. Drinking something as close to body temperature as possible enables it to be quickly absorbed.
When I was working in the desert we used to use 'camel packs', they were like a backpack full of water. They'd get really warm - it would be disgusting drinking it over here but over there when you're sweating buckets it was like nectar.
When I stopped in a mining camp after a days work I had an icy cold water and it gave me really bad stomach cramps.

Not disputing that, but the gibberish that hot drinks cool you down.

I'll tell you though, what next time I'm hot and need cooling down, I will not be pouring myself a warm glass of anything.

                  Warm drinks are rank. Fact.

I agree over here. But out in a properly hot country like the Great Victoria Desert you wouldn't want an icy cold one. It bloody hurts.

Ok, here's another one. When you eat really hot food, the worst thing you can do to try to ease the pain, is drink water. This is because the water opens the "receptors" (can't remember what they're actually called) on the tongue, allowing more capsicin to reach your tongue.

Milk, on the other hand, coats the tongue and helps ease the pain.

The culture in England, whether by accident or design is to drink lager with curry, and I can see this as being as bad as water.

In fact, some to think of it, if that's by design, it's genius. I can't imagine how much they make from proud fools drinking pint after pint to try and curb their pain only to make it worse.

I can see that it would be nice, but I don't like the strong lagers, so I never do. I'm very picky about drinks, and I can't stand Stella, Kronenberg and all the 'premium' lagers (becks vier at a push).

Now get me a Sol or a Corona and we're talking. But you don't tend to see those in Indian restaurants.

I like SOl and Corona best, then stuff like Budwieser Budvar, then the American Budwieser, then.. carling or something.

But I'd only deliberately go for the first 4 maybe on impulse, everything else is for when there IS nothing else.

Kronenberg, Stella etc, I'd rather go thirsty.

Cider and wine are my preferred options.

Uuuuuurgh! Honestly you have just listed all my least favourite lagers. You should live in Australia or USA as they hate beer that tastes of anything. That's why they always have to have it near freezing to give it some character.
I only like hoppy lagers - Pilsner Urquell being the best, I like Becks, Starpromen, etc. The usual one I'd drink (not a lot of choice in my locals) is Carlsberg

I thought Australia was hell until I found a small brewery that did normal beer. Hate the tasteless pish like Bud.
A fella I know wrote a really good book on the different drinking cultures around the world - Three Sheets To The Wind. Good entertaining read, it also highlights that the Budweiser company are some of the biggest tosspots in business.

A lot of those kinds do to me.

During the Octoberfest (if it comes here) they often have german beer brewed by German rules (forgot what it's called) and it tastes similar, but somehow cleaner. That stuff is mostly ok, but can be hit and miss.

Kronenberg just gives me a headache, 100% of the time, even 1 pint.

It's important that you have good ventilation in your greenhouse AtB. The plants need a lot of new air because they use up all the CO2 in it pretty fast. Also it's important to keep the humidity levels up. You should talk to them regularly and tell them how nice and big they are too and this way you will breathe some CO2 on them 😀

Aye C02 is key, it's needed in the photosynthesis of the plant. So it's important that you have new air flowing in and old air flowing out of there. It's funny when you think of it that there's this hysteria about minimizing the Co2 waste, when it's actually needed to keep the earth green 😛

You are supposed to soak it in lemon juice or vinegar first - or at the least salt it for fifteen minutes.

^ agreed. Then again, iirc, a lot of the really hot curries were developed over here, or are hotter here than most places in india.

I think it's almost a rule of thumb here that people expect curries to be hot, but in reality most of them really shouldn't be.

I remember 3 of my friends tried to out-man each other by eating a phall, and I sat there enjoying my Dopiaza while me and the staff laughed at their red faces, dripping noses, and uneaten curry.

The point about the spices is that they are actually meant to sanitize the food - not give you piles, Attila! - and the lovely flavours brought out by, say, cayenne pepper are just a pleasant by-product ...

Yeah that's true. and that's the main purpose behind tumeric, which is why I'd wish people would just stop using it. It's horrible and bitter, and I don't care how yellow my food is.

nah, it's always bitter. I'd always thought it and never used it, and it was confirmed by a Michelin star (Indian) chef on TV.

Yeah, when you go to a 'proper' curry house they rarely blow your head off like the store bought ones or ones at crappy curry houses.

Having said that, if I go to Nando's with mates and someone gets anything less than Extra Hot chicken with Extra Extra Hot sauce covering their chips, then they've 'let the side down'.

Lucky bugger. Most pubs I've been in Ireland just have Guinness, Carlsberg, Heineken, Bulmers, Smithicks, Bud. Apart from in Dublin, there's a cracking pub called the Porterhouse which is a micro brewery so it does all its own, some lovely stuff in there. Oyster Stout is fecking beautiful on a winters day.
Pity its always full of tourists though.

Budvar on tap isn't that rare, but certainly is a luxury.

There are fewer more distressing sights than that of an English pub/bar with only Carling/Carlsberg on tap.

I love hot food, especially Mexican, and I've got a load of dried chiles, and about 20+ jars of spices.

The thing is, I LOVE a bacon sandwich with hot-sauce.

So I went to this place that specialises in hot sauce, and spent £10 on a jar of 100% pain. The guy said "use a toothpick to add some to what you're cooking".

I said f*** that, and spread it on my bacon sandwich like it was butter.

            And it was delicious.

But what consistently happens the next day means that I can no longer use this sauce.

I hope the FPL pundit doesn't raise the alarm again about all these double, blank then double again weeks.

The coming weeks are like gold dust to us obssessive crazy FPL planners as we work out how to get Lampard, Luiz and RVP in, then possibly out again for Huth, Dempsey and Sturridge in as few hits as possible.

possibly only ...to make room for others. Have to see how the hamstrings fall before deciding who to take out.

The savvy players will be looking to make sure they have the best chelsea and Arsenal players for Gw 33...then the ability to either already have and bench, or get in, a good sprinkling of Fulham, Stoke and Bolton for GW 34.

hmmm what to do with team?

like many on here I’m looking to get some Chelsea coverage for the DGW, already have necessary Arsenal and Birmingham, all my potential moves make sense going forward, my problem comes week 33 when I don’t know who to get in for Tevez, already have Rooney and RVP. this forward can only be of ~9.0 in value.

Give me some options and I’ll start sorting through the data.

    Thanks

Gyan and Bent have acceptable fixtures goign forward, I could see Suarez being penciled in there as well but doubt the price rises falls will go in my favor and I'll miss him by 0.1 me thinks

if only Harewood were still aorund I pledged I'd end the season with him as my captain.

Honestly though Attila, the national teams of England/Ireland/Scotland/Wales/N.Ireland have been garbage for 30++ years now, and since the foreign players started coming at least the Premier League has went from being the fourth or fifth best league in Europe to the best one. Surely that's good.

National team of England garbage for 30+ years? Come on lets not be daft. A damned good side in 1980's and apart from Taylor's feck up we were bloody good in the early and mid 90's too.

                  Garbage was too hard, sorry.

I stand by my point those sides were not that good though, and that it's much better to have a great league than a slightly better national side.

I'm not so very sure the problem is the foreigners.

Weissbier not very much of my liking. Prefer bitter ones like Pilsner or Stout.

As much as I enjoy posting here, it has not been very easy lately. Too little time, usually read the comments late at night and there's no meaning in replying. Today it's -let's say- Independence Day in Greece, so it's more comfortable. I could even watch the cricket!

Well, I would not call it shoddy. Mind often plays tricks on us.

I'd say I have been shoddy myself each time I left a Czech "Pivovarna". Hehe. The Czech Republic is the paradise of beer to me. Countless brands, micro breweries, local industries, you want to taste them all and usually they're good.

I'll have to go, sounds great. My local pub back in England is one of the CAMARA pubs and usually gets voted in the top 5 in the UK in the Good Beer Guide (though not this year strangely), so I'm always spoiled for good beer at home.

Haha, Xena. History lessons and random time travelling all in one package. Far from accurate. Still better than CNN though 😉

No way Ares. Or Aris as it's called in modern Greek. It's the club that faced Man City in the Europa League and the local rivals. I am a PAOK fan you know...

Would anyone mind rating my Euro 2012 Qualifying team? 😛 Unlimited changes between rounds.

    Iceland Keeper (2M) (cheapie (1M))
    Shitov (3M) O'Shea (4M) (3 cheapies (3M))
    Hazard (3M) Ozil (6M) Rudnevs (3M) Dzagoev (6M) Hamsik (5M)
    Benzema (6M) Gomez (6M) (C) Zigic (5M)

    Budget is 55M, any suggestions?

I have had Gordon in my team for weeks but can't shift him as I have been trying to sort out other areas of my team. Already made my freebie for this week. So will prob have to start Robinson which prob won't get me much points

with RVP coming off 2 int'l games maybe BLA has a decent chance at a CS and saves for Robbo

Gordon is fit in a way. He will be on the bench and may even play in an emergency. But only then, as he is not fully fit.

He has been given a programme of exercises, if it goes well he will avoid surgery. If it doesn't, he will go under the knife.
