Craig Gordon has announced that he still remains well short of fitness as he battles to regain the number one jersey at Sunderland. An article in the Northern Echo this morning quotes the stricken Black Cats stopper who is still struggling with a knee injury…

“I’m not very close to being fully fit to be honest. I go back to see the specialist in the middle of next month. It’s a possibility (that I will not be fully fit until next season). A strong possibility. I’ll need to wait and see what the doctor says. I’m in his hands and he will tell me what I’m capable of doing from there.â€

This comes as significant news for Fantasy Managers due to the potential offered by Simon Mignolet. The young Belgian keeper has started the last three league games for Steve Bruce, conceding 4 goals and keeping a superb clean sheet at the Emirates in gameweek 29. That game saw a 10 point haul with 2 Save Points and 2 Bonus for Mignolet, bringing the 3.9 valued prospect to the attention of Fantasy Premier League Managers.

Although Sunderland travel to Eastlands this weekend, the clean sheet against Arsenal on their last away trip will give them confidence, while City’s goalscoring form is hardly convincing right now. After this, Sunderland’s fixtures improve markedly, as our recent “Frisking the Fixtures†article outlined. With this latest news on Gordon’s fitness, it seems likely that Mignolet will cement his starting role – providing a significant boost to his already healthy Fantasy stock.

Look out for his ranking in today’s Watchlist update; a full Watchlist article assessing Mignolet’s potential will also follow.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Any contributors out there.

Just a slight style point on the revamped comment box down the right on the home page. When it says "said" followed by the comment it looks really odd. Perhaps instead add a colon after said or perhaps "says:" as it does in the main comment section.

They will find it very hard to score with Long up top on his own and too many players gone back to their clubs. Paddy giving 7/5 nice price if can find something to double it with.

                    Spell Portuguese correctly.

                    Put an apostrophe in isn't.

Attila i see you were mentioning about over population being a problem. From a world perspective this isnt true unless you mean Uk and immigration .

Prof Hans Rosling has a load of videos about population , market growth expansion etc you may be interested in. He basically says alot of our beliefs are not true on this issue. Use evidence 😉

over population is only a problem because only a handful of people control all the resources in our world... and as long as there is something called a monetary system this will indeed be the case

I could go on about this and much more but im getting now aint the time 😀

Regarding resources climate change is only a few summers away from causing a massive crisis on this front. Many experts have wrote about it.

If what happend only last year in summer in Russian happened in USA (the heat which lead to a massive drop in production) then seeds, crops and grain would become as valuable as Oil on the markets. only problem is that the human nature fights against this marxistic communistic world order where everything is divided equally among us... we're a greedy breed and there will always be those who want more then their peer and this will probably lead to our extinction. One thing is given though, the world will outlive the human kind, we give ourselves way too much credit if we think we could destroy this magnificent planet.

"the world will outlive the human kind, we give ourselves way too much credit if we think we could destroy this magnificent planet."

Woah thats a big statement MAD. A few fundamentalists with nukes in the name of Religion could put us close to the brink.

Dr Michio Kaku talks about it at length in his book and online.
We are currently Type 0 civilation and are slowly moving to type 1. Which is an more equal intergrated society , based on technology and science and with ability to the control planet and not be depended on fossil fuel etc.

The transition from 0 to 1 is the most dangerous. So in short I agree with him in saying its very very easily foreseen that we end both ourselves and the planet.

We dont have to kill everything initially. We could change our planet enough to ensure it was not able to harbor life. Thats sadly easily within our capabilities today.

I saw this document from Chernobyl and it's amazing how life has moved on over there. Everything has radiation in it, the bears, the rabbits.. everything.. but they're all perfectly healthy. And reproduce normally. I think nature has a way of overcoming things, but I do think that the human kind is more fragile to changes than organisms with a shorter lifespan.

                  I fully agree.
However of all mammals humans are one of the most adaptable species. If we get wiped out just think of the poor old species that are wholly dependant upon humanity - body and headlice would be extinct too. That would be the real tragedy. 🙂

Adaptable maybe, in way of surviving etc.. but on molecular level I think we're pretty fragile. You only have to look at diseases like chron's syndrome, that only exists in the western world and is probably caused by the cleanliness of our surroundings.

Yes i take your point on adaptation but i mean on a larger scale such as removing the protection of the o zone layer meaning the earth will be left to the mercy of temperature changes , radiation etc.

Then poisoning the air so that the necessary 02, C02 isnt available anymore. Destroying the soil vegetation etc or blocking the sunlight to allow for all this in the first place meaning eventually no energy source. Of course this would take millions of years presumably but isnt it the case many know believe Mars was once rich in life. I know there it had more to do with the iron core ceasing and thus the lands being battered by solar winds and radiation due to the ceasing of the magnetic core but my point is Life and the maintenance of it is very delicate. Ending it imo is within our grasp especially as the technologies we should be using for advancement can paradoxically end us

When you think of it, its far easy for life not to exist as has proved so in every spec we have ventured thus far in space than to prevail. Life as we know it can only exist in one form under a few delicate variables. These are not that difficult to to throw out of balance.

Discussion on the last page is too long. Here is my final say on it.

RBJ in just that one post alone ( http://link-shrink.com/9183) you show a complete lack of understanding in the required logical processes and laws needed to argue effectively.

"You can present a man with reason, but you can't reason for him"

I won't deal with you any longer as it is not to anyones benefit.

well you can't even pick up on a movie reference being an example of how your theory that the fact capitalism was great for science doesn't mean it's good for huiman nature- which was the topic.

Ah you misunderstood. Scientific advancement runs parallel with an increase in life expectancy and standard of living. Both are the results of the capitalist system.

In strict logic, your argument is >False as the preposition "robots will come and destroy us" cannot be proven.

Pah! To be honest, it all fell apart when I decided to back England in the quarters. Couldn't live with myself if I packed my side with Sri Lankans - as an England win would have been an absolute disaster, and I wouldn't have been able to enjoy the win.

If I'd been boring like you guys, I'd still be doing okay. 😉

And I wasn't around for the days leading up to the first quarter, so my team selection was rushed, and when I eventually did do it I misread the fixtures, hence why I had so many playing in the Aus-Ind game, because I thought that the winners were going to play in the first semi final.

Also, and it sounds shit, but I don't really care too much about it anymore....

The main reason I joined in the first place, I was initially reluctant, was to create some further interest in the potentially dull group stages. But now it's the knockout stages, I don't need to bother trying to make it more exciting.

True. Incredibly annoyed that I'll have to miss the final, on the bloody train to France for most of the day!!

To be honest, for the amount of effort I initially put into the game, I've been shit at it. Rubbish captain choices (especially when I've had multiple players in the same game), bringing in shitters so I didn't have to captain Roach, and picking the wrong bowlers (Singh vs Khan was a real killer, and Lee vs Tait wasn't much better, for which I blame YOU!! :P).

It's been fun though, although the scoring system is a little suspect. I hate it how in many cases, scoring your 25th run actually sets you back 14 points. And being able to pick up 50 points for bowling three meaningless overs in the middle of the innings (the Watson/Kallis special) is outrageous.

Ooooh, and the weighting of the MOTM bonus is too high.

    Hi

    I am planning

    Saha to RVP

    and

    Nasri to Adam/O'hara

I had been planning to bring in Adam but can't wait for any injury news as RVP will go up tonight and I can only just afford the transfers. Is O'hara a credible alternative? BP magnet, showing some form in terms of goals, plays in Orange.

I feel too vulnerable without RVP this weekend and need to downgrade someone to get him in.

My team is linked. What would you do?

        Saha to RVP

        and

        ?

        Defoe to Welbeck/Sturridge/Caroll

        Another midfielder to Adam/O'hara

            Cheers.

I have mulled through all of the options and for a while had been going for VDV but felt Nasri's returns might be diluted by Fab and possibly Walcott returning.

Your suggestion of VDV to Adam gives me enough cash to be able to wait for injury news.

Still thinking through Adam/O'hara too. The extra few quid will help.

Who feels sorry for ghanaian fans who were swindled into spending a lot of money on tickets to a 'full international' just to help pay wembley's mortgage?

Yeah of course but look at the way they calculate everything, why would you even bother, basically if you only managed a draw against a team at home you automatically lose to them away.

They are also basing our results on previous seasons when we have been absolutely shocking. We haven't got 4 points off Arsenal in a season for about 40 years.

Just think it's a stupid way of doing it tbh....

Yeah I'm not saying it's stupid because they say were going down, just the way they have decided on that with the calculations they've made.

I personally think we will either finish 17th or go down so it will be tight but 2 points from now until the end of the season is a bit of a joke!

Austria won the game in the 90th minute (at one point it was 1nil to Norway after 70mins!)

Germany u21s are currently winning 2-1 5mins left
