Uncertainty remains over the extent of Robin Van Persie’s injury following last night’s substitution in Holland’s Euro 2012 Qualifier with Hungary.

The Arsenal striker was left in apparent agony following a challenge by Hungarian defender Vilmos Vanczak late on in the second-half of last night’s 5-3 win. Van Persie was seen limping around the pitch and he failed to appear for the second-half.

The extent of the knock is still unknown – all we have to go on right now is a quote from Dutch coach Bert van Marwijk who has done all he can to calm concerns in the Arsenal camp.

“It did not seem like a serious injury…It was painful though. He got a knock just above his knee. I told him I hope he will be fit this weekend.”

Van Persie has of course only just returned from a knee injury sustained in the Carling Cup defeat to Birmingham in February. The Dutchman made a return 10 days later against Barcelona, but there will be real concerns that this latest setback may keep him sidelined for a similar period, if not longer.

The striker is now set to return to the Emriates for a full assessment of his condition ahead of the clash with Blackburn at the weekend. Arsene Wenger would normally offer an update on his squad on Thursday prior to a weekend fixture, so hopefully us Fantasy Managers may not have to wait long for further details on Van Persie’s availability.

While Wenger will not want to take a risk on Van Persie’s fitness, he will also be mindful that he saw his side fail to breakdown Sunderland at the Emirates in gameweek 29 with the Dutchman sidelined.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I think so. That said I think Nani is enough cover for me, but getting rid of Berba is now an issue with Saha/Rvp the other 2 of my front 3.

Damn. Looks like I will have to give in to the Force for the 2nd time this season....

      Sorry Jedi.

id go gyan and fabs this week then decide on rvp or luiz which way round to bring them in, probably with luiz first, see if rvp manages to get through blackpool without breaking

all about wengers press conference now tho!

It's all about Chelsea (really only, Luiz and Lampard/anyone who's very likely to start) and Arsenal attackers at the moment. I wouldn't worry about Utd coverage at the moment. Sunderland's fixtures are good from gw32

Right. Imo, you should get rid of Shawcross and Dembele first, possibly for Dawson and Beckford/Welbeck. Then you should look at whether Torres is the right Chelsea cover ...

Kinda differential / crazy punt players I'd look at till end of the season:

      Arshavin
      Walcott
      Downing
      Hoilett
      DJ
      Lee / Taylor / Petrov
      Ramieres
      Duff
      Zamora
      Valencia
      Ameobi
      Pennant
      Henderson
      Odemwingie
      Hitzleberger
      Ba
      Milijas
      Ebanks Blake
      Nzogbia

I appreciate a lot of these are rubbish or are popular on this site but aren't neccessarily through out the game.

I'd say Ba, Beckford, Gyan, O Hara, Kuyt, Defoe (cough splutter. All owned by relatively few & have some varying degrees of potential. Defoe's bitten me on the arse before tho, git. Lampard & Luiz both still have quite low ownership too.

Because Hitzl, Parker and Noble have been bossing the midfield against everyone lately. I think SAF is smart enough to put players there to stop them from controlling the game.

So the best way to stop a midfield 3 bossing a game is to play 2 men against them instead of 3?

No, but you suggested that Rooney would be up top... which I can't see happening. I think SAF needs him helping the midfielders. So Berba up top and Rooney behind like he's lined up against most lower table teams this season.

Surely playing three central mids behind you're front three IS the best way of bossing the midfield? 😕

The way I see it is Nani is gonna play whatever so it's between Valencia or Rooney to do the attacking and defensive work out wide, I'd rather have Valencia doing that job and Rooney up top. I still think they haven't looked their best since moving from that formation of:

                    ---------Scholes Fletcher Carrick--------
                    Valencia ----------------------------- Nani
                    --------------------Rooney-----------------

Obviously with the midfield 3 being interchangeable with Anderson Giggs etc.

I'm not saying he will do that but I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility and it matches them up in the midfield.

That's cool, I thought u were saying he should play 4-4-2 not what you think he will play, I agree he might play what you said but it wouldn't surprise me to see the formation I stated.

Or will Fergie opt to play Hernandez Vs WH and save Berba for the CL considering that Hernandez played Vs. Chelsea last time and they lost?

I honestly think Berba will start but I certainly wouldn't put money on it.

Good point, it gets tricky at this time of the year having to worry about cup involvement. Though it's not as if Spurs won't try in the league cos they're going to try and get in the top 4 again. I don't think I would go for anyone except Dawson, though.

Yeah, that's the crucial thing, if it's too cold when it goes in the boiling water they rapid contraction/expansion may well cause the egg to crack. Terrible scenes.

I don't recall, but I keep my eggs out anyway.

Interesting fact: The FDA in the states requires eggs to be washed by law, removing the protective substance on the otherwise porous shell, and requiring them to be refrigerated.

No such law exists in the UK, so we get to have better eggs.

Keeping eggs in the fridge is fine, but they need a constant temperature so the door (where most fridges have their egg holder) is the worst place. Possibly even better than leaving them out in the kitchen as the room temperature will rise and drop during the day/night- depends on your house really.

                    ^ too true.

They seem to think bread is a dietary requirement.

In fact, I remember a clinically obese man who litterally HAD to lose weight or die, and who's wife was smuggling him in junk food, trying to justify why pizza was not junk food. Because "you got your tomato, that's a fruit, you got your cheese, which is protein, and then you got your bread.

No-one likes pizza more than me, but that's bollocks.

There's another way to boil eggs; put them in a pan of cold water, bring them to the boil, then remove them after 5 minutes.

                    That way they don't crack.

Would it be prudent to take the egg's mass into consideration? I refuse to risk a suboptimal boiled egg.

And if you start a whirlpool by stirring clockwise or anticlockwise vigorously and then putting the egg in the middle you will get your yolk nicely centred in the egg.

I do, but here's the unfortunate thing: I can't STAND sweet and savory 🙁 Even when seperately they are delicious, like onion jam and chips, I can't stand them together.

Still, they do sound pretty nice though, cheers for that. I'm going to try and find a truffle.

No just looked at the ingredients now, tomatos, chilli, garlic, ginger, vinegar and sugar. He uses differnet chilis for different jams. The tri peaks has three different chillis in, one takes effect 10 secs in, the other 20 then the other 30 secs! Seriously strong stuff but he does even stronger stuff.

After about two weeks of delay and a -0.2 drop from my potensial spending money im finally gettign rid of Tevez and Barton for Lampard and...... Carrol?/Beckford?/Welbeck?

Original plan was Carrol but while I was 'lurking' I didn't see alot of carrol love on here.

I'd basically be playing 3-5-2 with Carrol/Beckford/Welbeck steping in for injuries or good fixtures.

Then Wellbeck is the better option. Personally I see Carroll as the better option if you think he's going to come good and hit something like his earlier season form or Wellbeck if you want to play the fixtures and think Sunderland will continue to pick up points for the rest of the season.

really depends how long they're all out for...with Tottenham pushing for 4th again I can see him playing +60 minutes in both PL and CL.

Anyone know whether he played 90 minutes on last night? Would probably hint that his fitness should be fine for 90 minutes on Saturday.

Whoa that's crammed up. Might have to reconsider keeping Rooney myself. Nani can stay, always good to have some Utd cover and there's the fact that I got him in somewhere around 8m. Would cost me my shirt to get him back.

Rooney could be the one to keep though, considering that Valencia is back and Rooney is on pens. You're on to something here tosey, those fixtures aren't even that good.

Ha! They'd probably drop that too!

Excluding the opening salvo from big Umar (who is the spit of Bert off Sesame Street by the way) they may have bowled well, BUT.. Difficult chances or not you can't drop that many at that level against a batsman of that calibre. That.

This is entirely true, not to mention depriving Afridi of wickets! 😡

Yea it's all good fun, just wish I'd entered the fantasy game - feeling a bit left out.

Looking at changing my GK lineup. Currently have Hart and Reina, which I know is a lot of dosh for keepers. Hart isn't looking great in a dodgy defence and Reina's fixtures aren't looking great.

I'm thinking of getting in Foster for the DGW 33 and Gomes too. Foster's and Gomes' fixtures seem to overlap nicely and seems like a nice mid-price GK combo until the end of the season. What do you guys think? Anyone with a better suggestion?

Mignolet and Kingson are the cheapest who play each week*

      *subject to Gordons injury

therefore I would get one of them. I dont like having money wasted on a keeper who i dont play. then keep the other keeper as your first choice who plays every wk he is fit. Only 1 transfer used that way.

        @Funkyav

I know what you mean about wasting money on a keeper you know won't play much. That's why Mignolet is looking a great option at his price.

I quite like Foster / Mignolet.

I like Foster/Mignolet suggestion. Looks like they overlap nicely, though not as well as Foster/Gomes, but Mignolet is much cheaper and I could use that cash elsewhere. Gomes also has DGW36 in his favour, since I'm getting rid of Hart.

Tough choice, but I think I will definitely get Foster with either Gomes or Mignolet. Cheers
