1) Sturridge. If Liverpool revert back to one man up front, he should see more points than Suarez.
2) Benteke. He's the second cheapest out of those, and with Aston Villa's amazing run of fixtures over the next 13 game weeks, he's a must have in my team.
3) Giroud. Arsenal are on good form, they are the only team to score in every Premier League game this season, and no ones challenging him for a spot up front. Plus Arsenal have pretty decent upcoming fixtures.
I won't be getting Giroud or Sturridge because I've missed all their price rises and they are owned by so many people that it will be impossible to catch up by getting them. Sticking with the differentials strategy.
What's your front three then? Or past front three if you've made transfers or wc'd over the international break.
I'm looking at Kompany if he can drop £0.3m.

Yeah, I wouldn't double up. I don't have any City, the only player who I'd get is Kompany if the price is right. Lamela is at £8.3m now. Could be good if he nails down a spot.

How soon to make the transfers? Timing is everything! - anybody got any ideas of the 'rapidity of return to scoring form' for various players?!!
Well I massively jumped the gun and did Ben Arfa --> Walcott last week before Ben Arfa's price dropped because I expected Wally back for Norwich. But its no big deal, I would only be using a transfer next week to get him anyway. Now I can use that one to get Benteke, his fixtures get very good after Spurs

I agree. Inaccurate crosses don't even negatively affect pass completion. - there's no downside at all to being crap at crossing.
I agree. It would be pretty pointless counting a failed cross. Where can that lead to?
A good cross can also be a failed cross. It's impossible to wrap context to every single situation.
Yeah but for example if a player crosses the ball and it goes 20ft in the air out for a throw in, it's a failed cross that can lead to no where. But if a player puts in a good cross, but it doesn't reach a player, or a player is inches away to reach it, then the player putting in the cross is playing well.
The argument is that a successful cross is often a key pass (as it often leads to a goal attempt) and therefore, they need to include all open play crosses to make them a different element.
In addition, should the provider of the cross be penalised for the strikers not getting on the end of it? We saw Kolarov put in two quality balls vs Everton which, quite rightly, would have boosted his BPS. Admittedly, it works the other way when the player is Aarron Lennon 😉
would prefer a couple of good crosses that lead to nothing to miss out than a load of rubbish ones to count for something

Interesting question -- imo it reinforces why going for the current fab five mids are so risky. Will Aaron Ramsey score 200 FPL pts this year? I'm not so sure, and if not, then he won't even get 5 ppg from here on out. Brady, Barkley as well might have already peaked.

the issue is that Januzaj could be 4.9 by saturday and then I need two transfers to get him. Same if Terry gets a CS, he could easily go to 6.4-6.5
Nice article, a couple of thoughts:
When the BPS system was first announced, it was 1 bps point for each key pass, not 1 pt for every 3 key passes. This is shame as it would have made this metric a real factor in the bonuses, and reduced the bias against 'assist only' type players like Silva. It would even have given players like Adam Johnson and 😯 Mark Noble a chance at baps.
Secondly, I have a real problem with Opta's 'big chances' definition, even though it's not really a factor in the bps system. Apart from being rather loosely defined which leaves things even more open to interpretation than normal, you would expect the conversion rate for big chances to be 90% or higher according to their definition as "a situation where a player should reasonably be expected to score usually in a one-on-one scenario or from very close range."
The reality seems to be more like a 50% conversion rate for big chances, which makes a mockery of the definition.
Entirely depends upon on who your blueprint striker is who is supposed to be finishing these one-on-ones. I mean if you created a big chance for Gervinho would it count? As nobody can reasonably expect him to score, ever.
Would love to know how much discussion is made over the definition of a Big Chance in the heat of the moment, though. Can't be an easy one to define. I imagine they have to use some criteria like every one vs one with keeper or unmarked goal attempt from 12 yards or less.
I reckon, if you smack your own head, then it is a big chance.

Given how precise they are with all their other definitions, I'm a bit surprised they're happy to keep pushing 'big chances' as a metric.

Subbuteo was and still is one of my big frustrations - I so wanted to be good at it but ended up just flicking furiously without any degree of success. I often found it demoralising to lose to someone who had no interest in football.
