Breaking Down The BPS – Defending

Today brings a close to our series of articles that examine the new BPS system introduced to the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) format this summer. Having focussed on Pass Completion and Creativity in the first two instalments, all that remains left to cover are the relevant defensive statistics.

When it comes to defensive actions, the FPL breaks down the awarding of BPS as follows…

For every 8 clearances, blocks and interceptions (total)
For every 8 recoveries
Making 3 successful tackles (net*)
*Net successful tackles is the total of all successful tackles minus any unsuccessful tackles. Players will not be awarded negative BPS points for this statistic.

    I know Spurs are good defensively.... But the key is I'd be losing Negredo who is at less than 5% ownership. If Negredo goes crazy...my rank won't be affected too much...I'm not saying Sturridge to Benteke or Rooney to Benteke

      True. Although it could attract more pressure from fans again - not many want to see their team go on the defensive - particularly at home. I find it a little strange that they are so good on the counter. Benteke & Co. have never struck me as being THAT pacey. Agbonlahor excepted I guess.

Getting my knickers in a twist with captain choice

Head says - Suarez
Heart says - Lukaku

But i also have Michu, Giroud, Baines, & Ramsey to consider.

Any help appreciated as I have failed with both Head & heart captain choices this season.

  I've Suarez and Giroud, and I'm going with Giroud. With cazorla and ozil fit, he has an absolute beast of a midfield providing service, against a shaky defence at home.

  Definitely not IMO. He's been in good form but up against City and Wham dont score too many. I dont think he can do it week in week out. Eriksen on the other hand is waiting to explode and Spurs play better away from home.
