Blackburn managed to tame the Premier League’s second top scorers Arsenal on home soil this weekend- frustrating Arsene Wenger’s men at the Emirates with a determined display. Although Steve Kean’s men perch just 2 points above the relegation zone, with strong confident performances like Saturday’s and a fairly promising run of fixtures to come (BIR eve MCY BOL whm MUN wol) – Rovers look likely to steer themselves out of trouble.

It is surely no coincidence that their first clean-sheet in four games corresponded with the Phil Jones’ first start since mid-December. The highly praised England U21 starlet had been on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury against West Ham, but his re-emergence in the holding midfield role seems to be the calming influence that Blackburn have missed.

The combination of a newfound defensive confidence, good fixtures and a need for points, give Rovers players plenty of Fantasy potential, with Jones looking a worthy consideration once more having first caught the eye on breaking into the side early in the season.

Although listed as a defender on the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, Jones often plays in a deeper central midfield role. Yet to score or assist in this season, Jones is nonetheless and influential figure who has threatened the opponents goal when pushing forward. Priced at a mere 4.2 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, Jones would slot nicely into any Fantasy defence and offers increased creativity and goal threat in a more advanced role, in addition to clean-sheet potential.

Rovers’ captain Chris Samba is certainly a big fan of Jones and what he brings to the Rovers effort…

“It is a great boost to have Jonesy back. We are going to need his enthusiasm, his character. He is a player who has that fire and never lets anything go, in any situation. He may be a young player but I think he is important for us, as are all the other young players. Now it is about who wants more to stay in this league. He is someone who works hard and never stops. He never stops running and I think he is sort who can go and make a tackle and the others will follow in his example.”

Samba is not the only one to notice Jones’ importance, the FPL Bonus Judges have thrown 9 points his way so far this term and last season, in just 9 appearances he grabbed a total of 7. The odd Bonus Point may not seem like much but, as the season draws to a close, such points can make the difference, particularly if clean sheets continue to be hard to come by within our Fantasy rearguards.

Holding an ownership of just 2.1%, Jones also offers excellent “differential” capabilities ahead of a run of three home matches in four for Rovers. While Samba (5.1) holds a higher ranking in our Watchlist with a significant goal threat, Jones is a cut-price solution that, coupled with cheap defensive options like Villa’s Kyle Walker, offers strong fixtures with a hint of attacking promise. Crucially, that helps to liberate funds for investment elsewhere in our squads at a time when double gameweek heavyweights look tempting.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

It is some achievement to have become my "Worst transfer decision of the season" having starded with Boselli! At least Boselli started the games I had him and did nothing, Zigic won't even give me 2 points, annoying, and I don't really fancy some of the alternatives, but think SEB/Wellbeck are front runners.

it just hurts thinking about chelsea strikers right now. there's the arguement torres was the only one who got 90 mins so could be most risk of being rested this weekend. then there's the arguementthat he showed signs of finally getting his goalscoring game together so ancelotti may want to get him another game asap.

the resting makes sense though, and he'll have been told that he has to play against united next week,.

so , if im ancellottery, this is what i do.

play drogba, let him bag a shit load, then say "listen roman you twat, what do you want, progression in the champs league, or me to give your little fembot another chance? Didier jsut scored a hatrick you berk!"

        thats what i'd do.

yeah he only worked out relativity, a theory which at most levels is used as the foundation of all groundbreaking science, whatever about quantum theory.

And the foundation of Nuclear physics, and E=mc2, and....all the rest of his unprecedented world changing science.

Newton - underrated. Maxwell - underrated. Gauss - underrated. Einstein - super overrated. Hawking... pretty overrated.

Special relativity, like Newton's laws of gravity, would have been picked up by someone else. But no one else was close to getting the general theory.

I'm obviously no expert, and I doubt anyone else on here is (whether reading their mate's doodles or not), but I've read enough written by people who do know what they're talking about to think it probably was.

                  Anyway, play nicely, I'm off.

If you could do something like pick one particular idea that changed everything then it wouldnt be Einstein's theory of relativity - it would be Newton's gravitational laws

Could be a good shout. He tends to score when he plays. And would be a good differential. Problem is chasing rival by 31 points and an 8 point hit makes the gap 39. Decisions decisions.

    FPL LIDL
The Tesco finest range of Nasri, Nani and VDV are beginning to taste a little manky, how about these cheap alternative partnerships of striker and mid? These two partnerships seek to cash in on Wolves & Blackpool's nice run of fixtures.

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake & Charlie Adam (total cost 10.8)
SEB Pro's - Was extremely effective and played well against Newcastle. He took 5 shots scoring one goal and worked the channels very well. I think if he wasn't on a losing side he would have been in with a shout of bonus points.
SEB Con's - Mick McCarthy needs to consider whether to stick with SEB or give Fletcher a go (who played well when he came on). I believe he has said this week that he is considering a 4-4-2 switch, I don't think playing up with a striking partner would unduly effect SEB's style of play.

Charlie Adam Pros - You know them, he is a beast
Charlie Adam Cons - Every man and his dog will own him for their run of home fixtures.
See the attached heatmaps of those two
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/chalkboards/sY9M0ZB76mxm4y79b79C

    Second pairing
O'Hara and DJ Campbell Combined cost 9.5
DJ Campbell Pro's - Back from a ban, should be fresh.
DJ Campbell Con's - Will he be stuck straight back in the lineup?

O'Hara Pro's - Set piece taker, played reasonably well against Newcastle. Had two shots (1 off target 1 blocked) and played 63 passes (success rate 71%). Good candidate to receive BP's
O'Hara Con's - Not as reliable as Charlie Adam, but could be a good differential to him.

See attached chalkboard of O'Hara v Newcastle and DJ v Wolves (away), it is interesting to note that in his last game Campbell only took one shot and only attempted 10 passes, (9 successful). He doesn't bring much apart from goals.

        Cons however are:
        1) Right now that transfer combo leaves me with 0.1 in the bank, i.e. I can't have both Hoilett and Lamps increase in value.
        2) Chelsea - Wigan could be a massacre, and if I captain Lamps in that match I easily see the potential of him raking in a goal, an assist and 3 BP, i.e. 26 points...

I wouldn't sell him now, as he's highly likely to start this GW, seeing Rooney's out. After that, I would do it (conditional on him not scoring a hat-trick in either of the next three matches, which will be played before Man Utd have their next (GW 33) PL match).

Evening nomar, how close are QPR to promotion? I heard they were only a few points away.

we're coming home, my good man!

It's basically a done deal now, just waiting until its mathematically impossible for 3rd place to catch us, which will prob be in about 3 games time.

Dirk Kuyt... are we writing GW29 and GW30 is 2 ridicuously lucky gameweeks, never to be repeated again this season? My plan all along was to sell him for Lampard, but now I see him as a potential differential. 2 tricky games up next, but then 2 home games against Birmingham and Newcastle. Thoughts?

Well he's on penalties, so not the worst option. You could always get him back.
