Having analysed the options in Defence in yesterday’s first instalment, we turn our attentions to the midfield area. A trio of Emirates showdowns brings Arsenal’s two main protagonists into focus, while Chelsea and West Brom’s upcoming fixtures also play a prominent role in recommendations for the next four-to-six Gameweeks:

Three home games in four see Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil occupy the top two spots in this week’s Midfield standings. While the latter has somewhat struggled for form on the road, with one assist in five appearances, it’s been a different matter altogether at the Emirates – Ozil has produced 35 points in three fixtures in front of his own fans. Ramsey has racked up 30 points over the same trio of matches and with Southampton, Hull and Everton paying visit, in addition to a trip to Cardiff, the duo look poised for further Fantasy points. The potential return of Theo Walcott would certainly influence matters but for now, Ramsey and Ozil hold steady until the winger’s comeback is cemented.

Eden Hazard replaces Oscar once again as our chosen Chelsea midfielder. The Belgian is starting to pick up in consistency, with four goals and a pair of assists in his last five appearances compared to a single assist in the first six – he has West Ham, Sunderland, Stoke and Palace in the upcoming five to help continue his climb up the standings. As always with the Blues, uncertainty over the lone forward role elevates their midfielders in our Fantasy thinking.

With a goal and assist in the last two, Stephane Sessegnon is starting to hint at a consistency for West Brom. The 6.6 priced Baggies summer signing has home games against Villa, Norwich and Hull in the next six and also faces a trip to Cardiff –coming in at 5.2, Morgan Amalfitano offers the budget route into Steve Clarke’s midfield but needs to improve upon a record of one assist in five.

Back in the Liverpool starting line-up after recovering from a shoulder injury, Philippe Coutinho was highly unlucky not to pick up the points in the previous Gameweek at home to Fulham. A role on the left of a 4-4-2 lends the Brazilian plenty license to drift centrally and wreak havoc – at 8.5, with a 5% ownership, he has a trip to Hull and home games with Norwich, West Ham and Cardiff to get his Fantasy season up and running.

With David Silva still sidelined due to a calf complaint Yaya Toure is our premium City option in the centre of the park. The Ivorian has already notched five times this term and has back-to-back home games with Spurs and Swansea up next before trips to West Brom and Southampton; at 8.1 to Toure’s 9.6, Samir Nasri, with attacking returns in six of his 11 appearances, is easier on the budget and also has real differential appeal, with just 3% ownership.

While Hatem Ben Arfa has to be content with warming the Newcastle bench, his team-mate and compatriot Yohan Cabaye has been picking up the points. The Frenchman has scored or assisted in four of the last seven for Alan Pardew’s side and welcomes Norwich and West Brom to Tyneside in the next two, with a trip to Swansea also on his short-term agenda – the downside is that he sits on four yellows, just a single caution away from a one-match ban.

Finally picking up the points his underlying statistics have hinted at, Robert Snodgrass has a varied schedule over the next six. Home games against Palace and Swansea look potentially profitable, as does a trip to Sunderland – down to just 5.9 in FPL, he remains firmly under the radar, with an ownership less than 5%.

As many as three Stoke midfielders found the net in the previous Gameweek and while Marko Arnautovic was not amongst them, the summer signing still keeps his spot in this week’s refresh. The Austrian continues to offer plenty of goal threat and with four home games and a trip to Hull in the next six, is relatively kind on the budget at just 5.5.

West Ham’s Ravel Morrison also remains in our thoughts despite his appearance on the Suspension Tightrope – like Cabaye, he’s a yellow card away from a one-match ban. A goal away to Norwich last time around took the 4.8 priced Morrison’s tally to three for the season – he now has home games against Fulham and Sunderland and a trip to Palace in the next five.

Still troubled by a quick return from hernia surgery, Robbie Brady’s owners have been left frustrated as Steve Bruce tries to nurse him back to full fitness. With a fortnight’s international break helping his recuperation, Hull’s top scorer is expected to be fit in time for this weekend’s home clash against Palace – Brady also squares up to Swansea and Stoke in the next five as he looks to rediscover the form which harvested three sets of double figures in the opening six appearances prior to injury.

Southampton’s Adam Lallana has a tough schedule on the horizon. The Saints skipper has been in sensational form – a goal or assist in five of the last seven has helped him up to third in the midfield rankings but with Arsenal, Chelsea, City and Spurs in the next six, he may struggle to maintain his consistency.

He's like that girlfriend you just can't get rid of.

Kevin Mirallas - yet again you find yourself on the chopping board. Favourite, in fact to go. Then you show glimpses of why I chose you, and that you can link up with Lukaku.

Damn (keeps telling himself it'll be alright)

Who would you rather instead of Cabaye? (up to 6.3)

Snodgrass, Amalfitano, ? (have Ravel and Brady)

Get Rooney now for (-4) or get Remy for 3 weeks then swap to Rooney?

Did you not get the memo? Me, Ronh and Bubbles instigated a coup d'état at FFS headquarters.

Out with the old - Jonty's daily snot topics and the mod's sticky's toffees are long gone. New color code will be shocking pink. Ronh will be the "face" of FFS going forward and soon the FFS logo of the little overweight 65yr old man peeking underneath his cap will be replaced by a fluffy teddy bear.

You welcome to send in a CV if you feel you can run with the "big dogs".

Time to spice up this DZ with some bold predictions for this weekend
    1) Coutinho and Sturridge score 1 and assist one with the assist in a 2-1 win over Everton with Lukaku scoring and Baines assisting
    2) Remy blanks
    3) RVP hat trick and the week's top scorer with rooney getting two assists
    4) Walcott makes a sub appearance late and wins the game for Arsenal
    5) Most entertaining game of the week will be: Palace vs. Hull, Most dreary: Norwich vs. Newcastle
    6) Dzeko becomes relevant with a sub appearance goal but goals from Townsend and Lamela give Spurs the win prompting Pellegrini
    7) I'm not even going to try to predict what will happen with Chelsea but I can see a West Ham goal
    8) Altidore gets his first goal this weekend
    9) Benteke will come out of his slump with two goals
    10) Chris Brunt explodes, and repays all those on here who rushed to transfer him in

Solid plan, although fresh off of his goal scoring form the man you should really want is mamadou sakho. Rodgers upon hearing of the goals scored by the frenchmen exclaimed, "Gadzooks I've had another goal scorer this entire time!" And he promptly replaced Sakho with Sturrdige up front. So for me the captain choice is obvious, i mean what player from liverpool has scored the most goals this international break...

    1) Suarez gets a yellow card for diving early in the first half and gets taunted the entire game. With 5 minutes left he takes on both Coleman and Distin to fire past Howard and win the game 1-0. He gets carried away with his celebration and is lucky not to get a second yellow card. Gerrard calms him down.
    2) Ozil demonstrates the gap in class between Arsenal and Southampton by setting up two before finishing well in a MOM performance
    3) Everyone forgets that Fulham vs Swansea is even on. Ends in a 0-0.
    4) Hull stumble to victory against Palace in a 1-0 victory in which Palace are unlucky to have a goal ruled out for offside and a handball penalty claim not given
    5) Newcastle go down 2-0 thanks to a Snodgrass brace. Ben Arfa comes off from the bench to net a late goal but it isn't enough.
    6) Several players get sent off in the Sunderland/Stoke game. Cattermole is the first followed by Shawcross and then Charlie Adam. The game ends 1-1. Peter Crouch and Fletcher with the goals from set pieces.
    7) West Ham dominate at Upton Park but go behind early thanks to a close range finish from Torres. The game dies down after 60minutes and the teams play out a 1-0. West Ham almost scrape a draw but Ravels near post effort is tipped away by Cech
    8) Man City dominate the game and win 3-0. Spurs barely register a chance on goal. Aguero, Nasri and Clichy with the goals.
    9) After a nervous first half that ends 0-0, Cardiff come out all guns blazing and find the net thanks to a blunder by Evans. Man Utd fight back though an Van Persie grabs a brace with Rooney sealing in the final minute. 3-1.
    10) The West Brom and Villa game is called off due to heavy storms in the midlands.

My dilemma - when and how to get Theo with this squad?

    Boruc, Davis
    Baines, Terry, Toure, Clyne, Ward
    Nasri, Ramsey, Mirallas, Snodgrass, Ravel
    Aguero, Suarez, Giroud

    Bank 2.2m, 1 freebie

    NOW (GW12)
    - would be a straight Mirallas -> Walcott trade. Looks great right? But, Mirallas has 2 home games up next and he scored last night. Also, Walcott hasn't played for 2 months.

    NEXT WEEK (GW13)
    - would have to be for Nasri (SWA) or Mirallas (STO), both of which have good fixtures. Probably a no go (I'm a bit of a fixtures man).

    GW14
    - Walcott should be up to 100% by then, but then he only has 1/2 good fixtures in the run up to the Jan WC - could be 2 weeks too late having missed (SOT, car)?

Ok Jins here's the full picture....

    Boruc Davis
    Nastasic Dawson Williams Clyne Burner
    Ozil Hazard Coutinho Brady Ravel
    Aguero Suarez Lukaku

    1FT... 1.1 banked

    A) Lukaku > Remy for 3 weeks (swap to Rooney GW15)
    B) Lukaku + Cout > Rooney + 6.3 mid (-4) (longer term transfer)
    C) Save Transfer, keep Lukaku for next 2.

    Thoughts??

It's up for debate, but personally I would keep Lukaku for the next 2 games - the MD often has a few goals and LIV have been far from watertight of late.

I would also be keeping Coutinho for his good run of games. Good stats and got the points last season to show he's not complete air. I think he'll come good.

So it's C for me Acqua

I was sick and bored at home last week so I dusted off my old Fantasy Manger (08) and played a few rounds. Played Spain in the qualifying group yesterday as Manager of Northern Ireland. Was 1-1 going into the closing minutes when one man rose above them all to save the day. That man ...

Talking myself out of Theo this week, which leaves:

    (A) Mirallas -> Hazard
    (B) Toure -> GJ/Evra
    (C) Toure -> a 4.0m or below defender (Baker/Rosenior) - funds Nasri & Mirallas -> Walcott and Hazard over the following 2 weeks (and means I don't need to start Ward this week)
    (D) Save transfer

    Boruc, Davis
    Baines, Terry, Toure, Clyne, Ward
    Nasri, Ramsey, Mirallas, Snodgrass, Ravel
    Aguero, Suarez, Giroud

I put on the TV and Ronaldo scored 2 goals in 5 minutes.

        Incredible scenes.

It looks like Walcott is infact looking likely to return against Southampton this weekend!

He's definitely back. Don't think he'll start though.

Santi Jack Ozil behind Giroud would be my guess...

Ramsey and Flam in the double pivot.

All depends on the vibe i get from Wenger's presser. If Michu is falling before that, i'll get him in anyway.

Even if he did, surely its a week too soon. Saints are a tough side to break down and there will still be an element of doubt to his game time and immediate form.

As a NZ fan I actually want the Oceania qualification system to change. Its not fair on other parts of the world. We should amalgamate the Oceania region with Asia.

If it were down to being fair to be honest there would be even more European and South American teams involved. It's nice to have a few from different places to make it a true 'World' Cup.
