As always, we cast our eye over the statistics across the previous round of matches to highlight some of the stand-out performers. Chelsea’s change of formation bodes well for their midfield veteran, United’s former Toffee provides chances aplenty, Villa’s misfiring frontman still has reason for optimism, while Liverpool’s young full-back delivers a tenacious display in the Merseyside derby:

Is it worth the risk of playing Schurrle this week for my draft league team or take the safer route by playing Sissoko? My other mids are Walcott, Gerrard and Mirallas.

2 part question; Have 2 FT!

    1. Drop Ozil or Oscar for Coutinho in order to fund Aguero purchase?
    2. Who should i swap for Aguero? Benteke or Lukaku? If i drop Ozil for Coutinho in the above, i can afford Lukaku>Aguero, if i drop Oscar for Coutinho, i and only afford Benteke>Aguero!

      1. Yes...I'd probably drop Oscar, but Ozil wouldn't be a wrong choice either...all sacrifices to feed the Legion of Kun are good ones! I'd say it depends on how much cash you want left over.
      2. Bentekkers -- he's great, but not in form and Lukaku is (and also great!).

100% keep Benteke this week. Scored a hattrick last year vs SUN.

Lose Lukaku for next 3 (though you might want him back GW16)

I would drop Oscar out of those 2. Keep Ozil for next 2.

Probably nailed for 2/3 baps if Pool get a CS, and a great threat on set pieces.

Similar conundrum. Have Suarez Benteke Lukaku and most likely it's Benteke that has to make way. But gut tells me that's the wrong move, though head says get Aguero in (though would be for a hit).

Between Oscar and Ozil, would drop Oscar. Ozil is still quality and would be keeping for next 2 at least. I'd be adverse against selling Lukaku though, I think he could get points against ARS and United.

Hi guys this is my team for the gw

    Mig 4.0
    Ivanovic Coleman clyne Chester burner
    Hazard Ozil Ramsey Sess JWP
    Suarez Benteke lukaku

    2.9 banked

Looking at options to bring Aguero in but would be for -4. Thoughts on the accompany transfer to make? Need about 0.4 extra to be safe.

Reluctant to do it this week especially for a hit given Benteke plays Sunderland and his compadres are back. He really improved once they were subbed on and for once didn't have 3 defenders marking him. If I don't do it this week, will save the FT and make the call next GW.

    Thanks

Thanks. Trying to maintain a bank of around 2 mil for some flex going into December. So to get aguero in, Ozil will be the one most likely to make way for extra funds. If I do move anyone else just to get the 0.4 extra, would be left without a bank once Aguero is in.

Likely to save the FT. Uneasy doing it, would be first one this season. But trying to be patient.

You think so TW? I would be nervous about not owning Aguero. Another factor is that ML rivals above me have aguero so Benteke would be a differential...for better or for worse 🙂

Would have to shift ozil to get him in for Benteke. Thoughts on who to get in for ozil and if worth a hit?

I could but should I really? Chelsea fixtures are strong for defensive returns, though could get Agger or Mert in.

But core issue is - crucial to get Aguero in for a hit this week? Or save the FT and give it another GW and essentially give Benteke one more chance against Sunderland

Sounds simple enough. But you mentioned to CF to 100% keep Benteke for Sunderland.

So there lies another conundrum - to lose Lukaku or Benteke, and whether it's really worth a hit this week. But I get you, I need Aguero asap.

I'm not totally sure of the rules this year but I think no, unfortunately. I think a price is only protected if a player is flagged and then removed. With a flag the threshold for a price to change may be increased though, so more people have to sell him for him to drop.

Total fpl way more accurate this year. When a players red flagged it requires around 2.5 times the amount of transfers to drop.

I'd say either Shaw to a budget defender or Ozil to Coutinho/Hazard/Walcott. I'd probably lean towards the first one. Southampton's fixtures are pretty rough.

Well I jumped on Walcott on my wildcard last week so I can't really talk about moving too early...

You already have Collins and Murner which were the names I was going to suggest. Maybe Ben Turner or one of the Crystal Palace choices. Looking at those names, moving Ozil suddenly looks way more exciting...

    Gerrard vs Coutinho

    Gerrard (Cost 8.9)
    2 goals, 5 assists, 8 baps, 60, points from 1,051 mins - avg 0.057 points / min

    Coutinho (Cost 8.5)
    1 goal, 0 assists, 0 baps, 21 points from 535 mins - avg 0.039 points / min

Now ... i know Coutinho has been out injured and marginalised somewhat with Suarez returning, Moses, Henderson, etc. but surely Gerrard is the Liverpool midfielder to have given he is nailed on and has penalties and free-kicks in his locker.

Coutinho love is based purely on one game, and I'm not sure he's reliable. This is coming from the guy who had him nailed on in pre-season with his form and opportunity and then spent the first 3 weeks vomiting in buckets watching him play.

It's not just the one game though. He had like 10 shots against Fulham and his shot/key pass stats indicate he was dreadfully unlucky earlier on the season. Now, he could be one of those Taarabt like players whose stats don't tell the full story but generally shots/key passes are pretty good predictors of fantasy success; often better than actual points.

True, to some degree ... my only gripe with Coutinho is that all the stats in the world can point to the fact that he should be scoring points with aplomb, but ultimately points in the bag (i.e. Gerrard occasional penalty and corner assist) are actual points and not "predictor" points.

Since Suarez returned Gerrard has been more dangerous also ... in fact he's picked up 80% of his points with Suarez back in the side from GW 7.

He's integral to their attack and should produce consistently when healthy with assists, but rarely will he have any breakout FPL scoring weeks imo. Can earn the odd BAP or two as well. But he's probably never getting 3.

Gerrard is an absolute monster with Suarez in the team but the problem is that when he is not playing, Gerrard struggles to get any attacking returns. All of his goals/assists this season have come when Suarez returned. I don't think he even got an assist when Liverpool beat Newcastle 6-0 last season after Suarez's ban. As long as Suarez doesn't do something stupid again, Gerrard should continue racking up the points regardless of the opposition.

I hope everyone else's defense is a bad as mine or somewhat close because i didnt get a single cs last week and Chico my top scoring defender got two while everyone else as a defender or GK got 1 point including those on the bench. I would love a nice Walcott showing to maybe compensate for the lost points. Anyone feel confident in your defense for now or in the future? If so, how's your attack looking?

I'm with you ... had an awful week with defenders (Ridgewell's injury meant Dawson auto-subbed in for -1).

I think even the expensive teams are leaky (i.e. Chelsea, Man City, Man United) and now that Southampton have tricky fixtures and West Ham have so many injuries it could be down to the likes of Stoke, Everton, Newcastle, etc. to get cleanies ... the good news is that it's a cheaper route so you can spend more on attackers.

I'm happy with my Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Southampton, Palace combo at the moment, 3 cleanies this week.
May lose Spurs (walker) soon as they have over-performed from their actual ability imo. I think Chelsea and Arsenal are both pretty decent options and SOT will continue to do well once they get through this fixture run. I may even double up Ivan / Terry short term.

Anyone else think this year is kind of like back when Lampard, Ronaldo, and Gerrard were all dominating in the Prem. Their FPL prices were very high but if you got all three into a team with out the rest of your eleven suffering too much you were golden because they would definitely outplay their pricetags no matter how high. Yes it is early, but I think we're seeing a little bit of that this year with Rooney, Aguero, and Suarez; all are dominating with few signs of slowing up but all aren't exactly budget friendly

I just think they are far and away the best 2 performers this year both in PPG and underlying stats and one of them will nearly always be your captain. I don't believe anyone is fixture "proof" in that players will score more against bad teams but I wouldn't transfer them out as they still likely to score and I would want them back in.
Long season though and players can go out of form or get injured

6 transfers. Seems quite a few in a short time with the Jan WC not too far away. Decent team in the future. Don't think Ramsey will be the Arsenal choice of attack with Walcott back. Lots of faith in Everton going forward.

would like to get Walcott in, think he'll absolutely THRIVE with that midfield behind him (if Arsene continues to play him in an advanced position)

maybe I'll just wait it out until the WC..

who of the 3 Everton do you not like?

          2 in attack seems excessive.

would you opt for Lallana then? haven't watched much Southampton and was bored to sleep during the Arsenal match ha

Ramsey to Walcott in other words.

would like to get Walcott in and don't really like having two players from the same club in the same position..potential for cannibalization and all..

Since the topic of defence has come up, I'm expecting cs & bps for all my defenders this week.

Mignolet, Skrtel, Terry, Mert = somewhere around the 30 point mark would be nice. If one of them scores a goal it might even approach 40.

It's nice to dream. With my terrible defence, I hope it isn't the case.

I don't have great team value. Will try to find 2 decent defs to start with and rotate the 3rd. Points are still mainly found in the attacking 8.

same, but it hurts to always be on the precipice of 80 points and my defenders only contributing 1 point a piece..

Positive visualisation bro. Migs & Skr have Hull & Hull couldn't even score v Crys. Mert has Cardiff which is very promising & hopefully at home Chelsea can keep Sou out although it will be a tough game for Ars.

    Advise please lads.

    Migs Boruc
    Terry Shaw Williams Rat Dawson
    Coutinho Hazard Ramsey Sess Januzaj
    Aguero Suarez Rooney

    1FT | 0.0itb

Only move i have in my mind to do atm is Rooney to Lukaku but in GW16.. id like to get rid of dawson and shaw but no good options at those prices. Thinking about Saving it this week and trying to do the moves next week. Anything you can think of though? Something like Shaw to 4.0 and Dawson to Mert sound decent?

if I already have Coleman and I will soon-ish do Rooney -> Lukaku, would you opt for Lallana over Mirallas?

Mirallas looked good against Pool (despite not deserving to be on the pitch)
