Roberto Mancini has confirmed that Carlos Tevez has sustained a torn hamstring in tonightโ€™s Premier League clash with Liverpool, a setback that seems almost certain to rule him out for Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final. Cityโ€™s talismanic striker was forced from the field after just 15 minutes of the Anfield clash which City lost 3-0.

The full extent of the injury are not yet known but the Mancini did confirm a tear, stating that Tevez would seem unlikely to make Saturday’s Cup date with United…

“I think that it is very difficult for Saturday”

When asked whether the injury was likely to rule Tevez out for the rest of the season, Mancini appeared to be more optimistic…

“No, no, no. I don’t think so.”

Tevez would seem likely to undergo a scan on the injury in the next 24-hours and we can expect a prognosis soonafter.

With City facing a gameweek 33 blank, followed by a tough trip to Ewood Park, Fantasy Managers seem set to sell on the Argentine in their droves – over 200,000 Fantasy Premier League managers have transferred Tevez out of their squads since gameweek 31.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Joke management. Has Mancini not realised how shit they've been without De Jong this season?

Without De Jong in the league:

        PL 8 W 2 D 2 L 4 Points - 8

And that record is just as bad in cup competitions.

Im guessing hatrick is from the hockey term. In hockey when someone scores 3 the fans usually throw hats on the ice. Odd Tradition, basically.

Think it's from cricket, if someone bowled three in a row they'd go to the crowd holding out their hat for tips.

the cricket origin precedes that, and relates to a collection being made for a player after the match, who got 3balls from 3 wickets, and they bought him a hat with the proceeds

A hat-trick or hat trick in sport is the achievement of a positive feat three times during competition.[1] In association football or ice hockey and other competition, it happens when a player scores three goals but does not have to be consecutively, and in cricket, when a bowler takes three wickets with consecutive deliveries.

The term was first used in 1858 in cricket to describe HH Stephenson's feat[2] and was used in print for the first time in 1878.[3]

The term became popular in North American sport in the mid 1940s in NHL hockey. In Toronto, Canada, a local businessman named Sammy Taft offered a free hat to the player who could score three goals in a single game. When Alex Kaleta played against the Toronto Maple Leafs one night, Kaleta scored the first 'hat trick', winning a hat as promised by Taft. From then on, three goals in a hockey game became referred to as a hat trick. NHL hockey tradition sees fans throw their hats on the ice after the third goal by any player (but customarily only when the feat is accomplished by a player on the home team).

not entirely true, depends on cultural context.
in germany for instance its not considered a genuine hat trick unless its consecutive (no goals from anyone else in beteween) and all in one half

In the old days when keepers all wore the soft caps with a peak, if they left in too many goals then the fear was that they would fall off when bending down to get the ball from the back of the net so often. Hence the aim for a striker to perform a hat trick.
