It has been revealed that Manchester City will be without influential captain Carlos Tevez for the next three to four weeks.
Having injured his hamstring in Monday evening’s defeat at the hands of Liverpool, the Argentine forward and looks set to miss the side’s next couple of fixtures – including this weekend’s FA Cup Semi Final showdown with Manchester United and, more crucially for Fantasy Managers, potentially a handful of Premier League fixtures from gameweek 34 onwards that reads (bla, WHM, eve &TOT, STK, bol).
Manager Roberto Mancini confirmed the injury:
“Tevez is not available for Saturday. I think he will recover in three or four weeks. It is a big problem but we can’t take any risks.”
Coming at time where both Chelsea and Arsenal have a double gameweek, this will surely see the City striker’s Fantasy Owners look for alternatives and propel the likes of Didier Drogba, Robin Van Persie and maybe even Fernando Torres onto many a radar ahead of this weekend. Despite being the top-owned forward in the game, Tevez has been sold by over 200,000 Fantasy Managers in the last three gameweeks, with his price dropping 0.3 in the process. With so much doubt over his availability, expect that price to continue to plummet.
City fans will now be pinning their hopes on Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli in the crucial Manchester derby this Saturday and beyond, as the Eastlands battle Spurs for that all-important fourth spot in the Premier League. Coming in at 8.6 and 7.9 in Fantasy Premier League respectively, this could now be the pair’s chance to shine in what has proved to be a difficult first season in England for both. With City facing a double gameweek 36 on the back of a home game with West Ham, expect investment in the pair to increase over the next couple of weeks.
