Aaron Ramsey is out for the rest of the Christmas period. Fulham, Hull and Stoke are rocked by goalkeeper injuries. Phil Jones suffers a knee injury for United. Christian Benteke and Ron Vlaar are likely to remain sidelined for Villa. Dimitar Berbatov remains a doubt for the weekend, while Ravel Morrison is a concern for West Ham with a groin complaint:

Arsenal’s title bid has been dealt a blow with the news that Aaron Ramsey is expected to be out for a while with the thigh strain sustained at West Ham. Post-match, Arsene Wenger confirmed the injury will “certainly” keep the Welshman out for the remainder of the Christmas period. Meanwhile Jack Wilshere returns for the trip to Newcastle, following suspension.

Dimitar Berbatov remains a doubt for Fulham’s trip to Hull after missing the last two matches with a groin complaint. Rene Meulensteen will be without Maarten Stekelenburg, though, after he twisted his ankle on the last day of training before the Boxing Day win at Norwich – David Stockdale is set to deputise once more.

Asmir Begovic could be sidelined for up to six weeks after suffering a broken finger in training. The Bosnian missed Stoke’s defeat to Newcastle, with Mark Hughes revealing “It’s quite a bad break”. Thomas Sorensen is expected to deputise between the sticks, whilst the Potters will also be without Marc Wilson and Glenn Whelan, following their red cards against Newcastle.

Sam Allardyce has confirmed James Collins is “unlikely” to recover from the calf complaint that forced him off early during yesterday’s defeat to Arsenal, though the Hammers boss is a little more optimistic on Ravel Morrison. The youngster missed out against the Gunners with a groin complaint but his manager reckons it “isn’t too bad” ahead of a crucial clash with West Brom.

Manchester United have defensive concerns after Phil Jones missed the win over Hull with a knee injury. The former Blackburn man is expected to be sidelined for “a couple of weeks”, according to David Moyes, while Rafael is a doubt after coming off early against Hull with a groin problem.

Christian Benteke and Ron Viaar look set to miss out again for Villa with knee and calf injuries respectively. Paul Lambert is hopeful the Belgian could be available for New Year’s Day against Sunderland but is less optimistic on his skipper. Villa will welcome back Ashley Westwood though, after the midfielder served his suspension in the home loss to Palace.

Hull have injury concerns ahead of the Fulham game, after David Meyler and Allan McGregor were both withdrawn at half-time on Boxing day with knee injuries. The pair are set for x-rays and scans, with Steve Bruce unsure whether either will be available for Saturday. Alex Bruce is also a doubt after picking up a calf problem during the United game.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

      Yes, when the Jan WC is just around the corner... Ozil may yet play and score well due to injury to Ramsey, and Evra and Remy will be playing too...

        I don't I ever seriously considered that, just really want Rooney. A rest is just around the corner for Ozil so will be losing him for Walcott for sure.

    Moarrr

    These series of questions will allow me to decide my transfer.
    May be better than posting 7 transfer options with different scenarios

    1. Best Ramsey replacement.
    a) Cabaye
    b) Sterling

    2. Got no playing keeper this week.
    a) Keep Howard
    b) Mannone (-2)

    3. Choose 2 out of 3 for the next 3 GWs:
    Rooney ;
    Negredo +4 ;
    Lukaku+ +4?

    [If you choose Negredo and Lukaku] questions ends. Thanks

    [If you choose Rooney and Lukaku +4]

    4a. Would you rather have
    x) Howard Sterling Merte and Negredo -> Rooney (c) this GW
    y) Mannone Cabaye Merte and Negredo -> Rooney (c) in this GW
    z) Howard Cabaye Bardsley and Negredo -> Rooney next GW

    4b. If you choose x) or y),
    is risking playing Negredo this week and bring in Rooney next week without a hit instead a better choice?

    [If you choose Rooney and Negredo +4]

    5a. Would you rather have
    a) Sterling up to Jan WC (GW 23) and Lukaku -> Rooney (c) in this week
    b) Cabaye up to Jan WC (GW 23) play Lukaku this week and Lukaku -> Rooney in next GW

    Cheers fellas.

    Okay so I realise the wc is active from next week but having already taken a -4 hit (Ramsey out, Sterling in & Welbeck out, Rooney) I'm tempted to bring in Walcott or Y. Toure for Ozil for a -8 hit as Ozil could get rested.

    If I go Ozil out, Walcott/Y. Toure in my team will line up as

    Mignolet
    Coleman, Jags, Mert
    Walcott/Y. Toure, Hazard, Cabaye, Sterling
    Rooney (c), Suarez, Remy

    Boruc, Terry, Burner, Oviedo

    Opinions on -8 hit & which option
    (a) Walcott for Ozil
    (b) Y. Toure for Ozil

    Opinions & thanks.

            What worries me is that the manager suggested he would be fine for Boxing Day and that he just missed the City game. It seems he's then said the same thing yesterday and Berba didn't even make the bench.

    Internet for the first time since the 21st! Dead pleased with bringing in Walcott immediately after the deadline and captaining him! Team's a mess for this week though. Any thoughts?

    Szczesny
    Evra / Coleman / Baker / Chester (Clyne)
    Ramsey* / Oscar* / Walcott / Bannan / Morrison*
    Negredo * / Suarez / Lukaku

    Got £2.7m in the bank, but only 1 FT. Concerned about Oscar's minutes/form, and want Rooney in for Negredo if he's confirmed out. Any advice much appreciated.

    My mid is in a bit of a state, assuming Harper can play Fulham which looks likely but I will wait for more news, what move is best?

    Howard Harper
    Shaw Chester Mert Coleman Burner
    Mirallas Walcott Ramsey Whittingham Ravel
    Rooney Suarez Negredo

    3.9M in bank, 1FT

    1 - Ramsey ---> Silva
    2 - Ramsey + Ravel ----> Sterling/Henderson + Silva (-4)
    3 - Ramsey + Mirallas ----> Silva + Cabaye (-4)
    4 - Ramsey + Mirallas ----> Silva + Nasri/Navas (-4)

        I heading for 1 and just hoping enough from Ravel, Negredo, Harper and Mirallas will be fit so I can field XI.

        Cant see Cabaye in for Arsenal, WBA and City is worth -4

    Selling Rafael + Ramsey (-4)

    Can't afford Ramsey > Walcott/Silva as that only leaves me £3.3m to replace Rafael.

    Who is a good midfield punt for the next 2 games?

      For just 2 games?

      If you fancy Cabaye home to Arsenal and away to West Brom then he's not a bad call

      Sterling: che, HUL

      Lampard: LIV, sou

    Wonder if Ivanovich will use the same aftershave as he did the last LFC v CFC encounter, in an effort to arouse Suarez's vampire roots...:)

    Hi All
    What a great league we have in front of us this season.
    Would love some input on my midfield in particular:

    Guzan Kelvin Davis
    Ward Wilson Sagna Zabaleta Coleman
    Amalfitano Barkley Nasri Walcott Ramsay
    Suarez Lukaku Rooney

    0.5 in the bank. Ramsay is the main issue, but who do i bring in if i make any changes?
    Cabaye? Lallana?
    Or do i sit is out this week?
    Cheers

    Don't know folk are getting Cabaye in. Their next 2 of 3 fixtures are tough.
