Aaron Ramsey is out for the rest of the Christmas period. Fulham, Hull and Stoke are rocked by goalkeeper injuries. Phil Jones suffers a knee injury for United. Christian Benteke and Ron Vlaar are likely to remain sidelined for Villa. Dimitar Berbatov remains a doubt for the weekend, while Ravel Morrison is a concern for West Ham with a groin complaint:

Arsenal’s title bid has been dealt a blow with the news that Aaron Ramsey is expected to be out for a while with the thigh strain sustained at West Ham. Post-match, Arsene Wenger confirmed the injury will “certainly” keep the Welshman out for the remainder of the Christmas period. Meanwhile Jack Wilshere returns for the trip to Newcastle, following suspension.

Dimitar Berbatov remains a doubt for Fulham’s trip to Hull after missing the last two matches with a groin complaint. Rene Meulensteen will be without Maarten Stekelenburg, though, after he twisted his ankle on the last day of training before the Boxing Day win at Norwich – David Stockdale is set to deputise once more.

Asmir Begovic could be sidelined for up to six weeks after suffering a broken finger in training. The Bosnian missed Stoke’s defeat to Newcastle, with Mark Hughes revealing “It’s quite a bad break”. Thomas Sorensen is expected to deputise between the sticks, whilst the Potters will also be without Marc Wilson and Glenn Whelan, following their red cards against Newcastle.

Sam Allardyce has confirmed James Collins is “unlikely” to recover from the calf complaint that forced him off early during yesterday’s defeat to Arsenal, though the Hammers boss is a little more optimistic on Ravel Morrison. The youngster missed out against the Gunners with a groin complaint but his manager reckons it “isn’t too bad” ahead of a crucial clash with West Brom.

Manchester United have defensive concerns after Phil Jones missed the win over Hull with a knee injury. The former Blackburn man is expected to be sidelined for “a couple of weeks”, according to David Moyes, while Rafael is a doubt after coming off early against Hull with a groin problem.

Christian Benteke and Ron Viaar look set to miss out again for Villa with knee and calf injuries respectively. Paul Lambert is hopeful the Belgian could be available for New Year’s Day against Sunderland but is less optimistic on his skipper. Villa will welcome back Ashley Westwood though, after the midfielder served his suspension in the home loss to Palace.

Hull have injury concerns ahead of the Fulham game, after David Meyler and Allan McGregor were both withdrawn at half-time on Boxing day with knee injuries. The pair are set for x-rays and scans, with Steve Bruce unsure whether either will be available for Saturday. Alex Bruce is also a doubt after picking up a calf problem during the United game.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

Opinion pls, Keep or Drop Ravel for a hit -4 ?

1--Keep ravel and risk Clyne might not play; thus forced from bench Ward (tough away mci) or nonfactor Colbak
    2--Hit -4 ravel > Sterling che
    3--hit -4 ravel > sisoko ARS
    4--hit -4 ravel > Fer MANU

Dzeko will have to play against Palace because City have very tight schedule of matches...

    26/12 Liverpool
    28/12 Palace
    1/1 Swansea
    4/1 Blackburn (FAC)
    9/1 West Ham (C1C)

Negredo has started against Liverpool. Less than 48 hrs later, against Palace. Dzeko may also start against Blackburn and definitely against West Ham. Just my views..

Do people really think Zabaleta will be rested this week? He has only just returned to the team and is the only fit right-back at the club.

I think he's a good bet for points at both ends of the pitch. I can't see Clichy playing right-back with Zabaleta in contention.

Walcott, Rooney or Suarez for captain?

Walcott loves this fixture and seems to be flying away from home.

Rooney is in great form and I can't see Norwich putting up to much of a fight.

Suarez was desparately unlucky not to get something from the city game and on form no one comes close.

Who you going for and why?

no Suarez, City plays an attacking and open game, Chelsea will shut up shop. he MAY get a single goal or single assist.

I'm between Rooney and Walcott at the moment, have it on Rooney right now and am waiting to hear if Carrick will start, in which case it will stay on Rooney

I hear you but watching the game Suarez was immense if those around him didnt squander the chances he'd created he would have had another double digit haul.

Chelsea have yet to shut up at Stamford Bridge this year.

I think captaining rooney is a good and valid move. But I have a gut feeling that Suarez is going to ruin JT all game. I captained Suarez last week while opps in mini leagues went with roo and luka thankfully the rest of my players made up for Luis blank but can he blank twice?

Decisions decisions, follow the gut or the head ? 🙂

ideally we want our teams set up to constantly have these captaincy headaches so that if we pick wrong it isn't TOO bad.

honestly think the Spurs match is giving Suarez owners that extra reason to armband even the facts state otherwise.

Mourinho is world-renowned for killing a game. won a treble with Inter doing it when necessary. Suarez will be quiet IMO..

              good luck though! 🙂

Rooney can't be rested ever. He is United at the moment. Until Carrick and RVP are both in form or unless we make some signings in the next month, Rooney will start every game.

Plus he is the kind of player who keeps fitness by playing and loses it very quickly if rested.

Rooney. Great form. Opposition not as great. Before Hull word on the street was that Hull home defence was decent, same as Norwich's home defence is supposed to be 🙂

Hull only conceeded 3 goals at the KC stadium prior to the Man U game I do think Utd will get a few just wonder if this is a great fixture to give rooney a rest

Well Howard is out for this GW

Nasri wouldn't be my first or even 4th C choice in that team. Despite that think he may get rested

save. think of how nice it will be to have the option of 2 FT for midweek if you need them or the ability to use 1 and then have 2 again for GW22 if you activate your wildcard for GW21 🙂

how many people are trying to plan to save a FT the gameweek before you activate your wildcard so you have 2 FT coming out of it in the following gameweek?

Probably none, considering you only get 1 free transfer following any week a wildcard is activated.
