Carlos Tevez is rated as 50:50 for a return to action in the FA Cup Final according to reports surfacing this morning.

The striker’s hamstring tear is currently being assessed by Argentina’s team Doctor in Milan and is due to return to Eastlands to start his rehabilitation although, as yet, no date has been set for Tevez’s arrival back in Manchester. Today’s articles suggest that Roberto Mancini is due to consult his medical staff to receive an update on the situation and to make a decision on whether Tevez should make his return from Italy this week.

The latest reports appear to confirm the initial prognosis that had estimated a four-week absence for Tevez; despite the player’s own desire to play in the final, it’s clear that he is set to struggle to make the Wembley date. Realistically then, with speculation also surrounding his future at the club, Tevez may have made his last appearance for City.

For Fantasy Managers the absence of Tevez could prove significant – particularly when you begin to assess City’s end of season run-in and the prospect presented by Mario Balotelli.

City face a tricky trip to Ewood this weekend, but follow that with a run of three home matches in four with West Ham, Tottenham and Stoke all visiting Eastlands. The absence of Tevez would seem likely to cement a starting role for Balotelli – a realistic consideration up front for a Fantasy Premier League fee of 7.9. The young Italian is a far from a reliable prospect given his tendency to attract controversy and bookings but, with Edin Dzeko struggling to settle in the Premier League, Mancini’s faith in Balotelli to lead his attack looks solid.

Balotelli has scored 6 goals in 10 Premier League starts with a single assist and 6 FPL Bonus Points to his name. With 5 appearances from the bench, the striker has picked up 5 yellow cards and a red in his first season in the league. Always keen to be involved from set-plays, Balotelli would also seem likely to be granted penalty-taking duties with Tevez out of the side having already converted from the spot this season.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    VDV (rival got him)> Walters
    Adam> Dempsey
    Hernandez> Zamora

Worth a 4 point hit and could I improve on these transfers?

    Any help is much appreciated.

Disclaimer - I am not wumming or being an ABU now.

I had a bet on Chelsea to win the league today at 10/1. Only a tenner (Totesport).

They are now 9 points behind United, win tonight and it'll be 6. I seriously think Chelsea could still win....

go for it. I can see them winning all remaining games, and if they beat Man. United themselves and Arsenal do too it could make it very interesting.

I can't ask for them to win every match but I can ask them to try. Dreadful performance.

Right - Cup opponent has Carr and VDV, so no goals from those two. And nothing from Lampard. Or Nasri. Or Fabregas.

A Torres hat-trick and Luiz double that come after Foster and Johnson have been substituted with clean sheets.

    And four goals from RVP.

    Sorted.

I was born in Derby and worked as an apprentice engine fitter at Rolls Royce before becoming a professional footballer. I was a striker and scored a hat-trick on my England U21 debut but I had a shorter full international career than any other player. I was a club team mate of Joe Corrigan, Alan Hudson, Viv Anderson, Kenny Hibbitt and Mark Lawrenson. Either Brian or Nigel Clough managed all 3 of my English clubs.

I knew that he was outstanding for the U21s but failed to live up to his high standards at full national level. The clough reference sealed it for me, as I recalled he played for Burton Albion and Notts Forest, and of course Clough senior spent a short time down at the goldstone.

I saw him hand over a prize on the pitch at the withdean a few years back..a Brighton legend.

Really looking forward to the games tonight. 8 players across 2 games! However, Chelsea bs Brum sees 2 attackers vs 2 defenders which is a shame. Nasri will be leaving my team before the weekend. O'hara or ethers seem to be the more popular choices than dempsey, especially if people have Zamora. What do people expect from Fulham defenders in the DGW?

    A) Zigic for Zamora
    B) Adam for Dempsey
    C) Nasri for Dempsey
    D) A.Young for Dempsey
    D) Zigic for Zamora and Nasri/A.Young for Dempsey (4 point hit)
    E) Zigic for Zamora and Adam for Etherington (4 point hit)
    F) Zigic for Sturrige and Adam for Dempsey (4 point hit)

    What do you reckon?

I am a bit annoyed as I took a 4 point hit to swap VDV for Lampard and VDV goes and outscores him this GW and has a double coming up......
