There’s just one Premier League fixture on this Easter Sunday, as Arsenal visit the Reebok Stadium. With title rivals Manchester United and Chelsea both securing three points yesterday, this of course falls into the ‘must win’ category for the Gunners.

As for Bolton, the 43 points they’ve already accrued this season means that they don’t really have a lot to play for. However, after suffering a major humiliation at Wembley last week, it’s perhaps pride more than anything else that’s at stake for the home side.

The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open, and the team news is in…

Bolton XI: Jaaskelainen, Steinsson, Cahill, Knight, Robinson, Lee, Elmander, Muamba, Taylor, Sturridge, Kevin Davies

Arsenal XI: Szczesny, Sagna, Djourou, Koscielny, Clichy, Song, Wilshere, Walcott, Fabregas, Nasri, van Persie

The Wanderers welcome back in-form striker Daniel Sturridge, who was cup-tied for the Stoke game, and Matty Taylor earns a start in midfield. Jack Wilshere comes back in after being rested in the North London derby, with Abou Diaby making way.

Be thankful that your captain has points to be taken away 🙂 Zamora clearly didn't touch the ball and haven't seen the Cahill one but have seen others similar and it is ridiculous.

Have to say it's getting ridiculous how they come up with these - it's just not the assists it's the bonus points - there was one game a few weeks ago where Ashley young absolutely killed them and got no bonus and downing cleaned them up for losing the ball constantly - it's becoming very obvious that if they arnt in their own team (or in their rivals) it plays a part in the decision

I would imagine the bonus judges wouldn't be allowed to play. Bonii are difficult as it's subjective although, like you, I've seen a player get nothing when I've had him nailed on for 3pt.

The assists just need to be sorted. If Cahill did head it at a defender then the rules say it is not an assist:

"If during this pass, an opposing player significantly alters the speed or direction of the ball, then no assist is given except if this intervention directly results in an own goal.

If a goalkeeper does not have control of the ball and parries a shot or drops a cross or the ball rebounds off the woodwork, the attacking player shooting or crossing the ball receives the assist if a goal directly ensues."

have to agree. Bonus points are murky (like Hernandez getting 3 at newcastle last week) and the assists are just a big grey area.

However the Zamora assist wasn't an assist in any shape or form.

The assists you can understand. If Zamora didn't touch it - no assist. Also if a goalkeeper saves a shot (ie no control over it) then the player who takes the shot gets the assist - it's just that with the Cahill one they've extended that to outfield players making the 'save'..

Bonus points are a joke though and always have been. After pretty much every game there's a fairly clear consensus on these boards (out of everyone who saw it) on who should get the points, and even what order they should get them. You'd think the points would follow the general opinion 80-90% of the time but it's more like 30-40%, with some really random allocations. There's no explanation for it. They should come up with an algorithm using the opta stats or something, but it is always entertaining to see what they do, I'll give them that.. plus we adopt our strategy accordingly, ie bringing in bonus magnets etc.

Overall I prefer that there is the bonus point system however it's worked out.

I agree with the assist thing except that the rules say they can't extend it to defenders as they specifically say outfield players can't alter the direction of the ball.

As said, haven't seen the Cahill one but maybe the people at FPL can sort it out via email?

Well exactly - with the current wording there should be no assist on the Sturridge goal.

It should be a Cahill goal of course! But that's a different matter..

financial dilemma (though the kind we'd all love to have in real life, i suppose):

currently have 5.3 million in the bank already, team is:

    mignolet/al habsi
    kolarov/luiz/coleman/rj/walker
    nani/vdv/nasri/young/malouda
    sturridge/rvp/zamora

looking at transfers for this week, but the result is an even bigger bit of cash in the bank (been looking at:nani -> yaya and nasri -> silva).

should i not worry about having 8 mil in the bank? should i take more hits for a gk switch? defender? striker?

thanks for answers to any of the above!
