With just four fixtures to go, Avram Grant is verging on his second Premier League relegation in as many years. West Ham currently prop up the league with 32 points, but there’s still a handful of clubs that could potentially drop down to the Championship. A few wins coupled with results elsewhere going in their favour and the Hammers will be safe and sound. A look at their remaining fixtures (mcy BLA wig SUN) suggests that, apart from a testing trip to Eastlands, there are reasons for optimism around Upton Park.

One of the only positives to emerge this season has been the naming of Scott Parker as the FWA Player of the Year. With their star man potentially out of the next few matches nursing an Achilles injury, however, Grant will be relying on other members of the team to aid their survival. Step forward, then, Thomas Hitzlsperger, who in Parker’s absence will have greater midfield responsibilities. Fantasy Football Managers may also see potential in the appropriately nicknamed Der Hammer

The German international has missed the vast majority of this campaign due to a serious thigh injury picked up in pre season but since making his debut at the end of February, has undoubtedly proved his class. Although only scoring one league goal in West Ham colours, he’s more than capable of finding the back of the net with that famous cannon of a left foot.

Over in the Members’ Area we can see Hitzlsperger offers great goal threat. He has made 11 attempts at goal from open play over the past 6 Gameweeks; the same number as Samir Nasri and Nani. As the Hammers’ set piece taker, he’s managed a further 2 attempts at goal in those fixtures.

Hitzlsperger doesn’t just offer potential to find the back of the net, proven by his 3 assists in the previous seven games. Another look at his Opta Stats in the Members’ Area reveals that over those last 6 gameweeks, he’s had 16 Key Passes, the 5th best tally in the top-flight.

The Hammers’ attitude shouldn’t be a concern for Fantasy Managers who may be raising their lip over the thought of transferring in a table-propper-upper. Hitzlsperger recently said this about his manager:

“He wants us to keep our heads up. This week, he said that each of us should think hard about what we can do to play to the best of our abilities. That makes a lot of sense to me, because we can only get out of this mess by playing to our strengths. It’s too late to make drastic changes now. We won’t be able to turn into Stoke City overnight. We have to stay true to ourselves.”

Priced at just 4.9 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, you should be able to find some room for Hitzlsperger in your team. With stats that are more impressive than players double his price and West Ham desperate for points against winnable opposition, Hitzlsperger, and his low ownership of 0.9%, could be the difference between you and your rivals in these decisive concluding Gameweeks.

        from west brom website:
Graham Dorrans has been told by a specialist he does not require an operation after he suffered a minor setback in his recovery from the training-ground injury he suffered to his right ankle on March 5. Whether he will play again or not this season is in the balance.

You would think so but in all honesty if I onwed the guy I'd rather he didnt take the PK and not risk the -2. Safest place to be when he taken a penalty is in goal. He takes PK's like hes got a friend in the crowd.

Dorran's is injured u mugs, now you're all jumping on the st.peter bandwagon when some of us have had him from the start because we knew he was klass. But when has any west brom player hit a peno into the crowd this year??? Odemwingie might be on peno duty then again it might be Cox if he starts or a midfielder??

    Odem RVP Drogs £0.1Mil

Thinking bout Adam(C) my transfer options seem to be only:
    a) Huth>Kolerov

Did any PS3 people on here get that spooky e-mail from them about the PSN being hacked? The e-mail basically says the hacker now has your name, your address, your DOB, your PSN e-mail, your PSN password and possibly your credit/debit number and expiry date.

As instructed in the e-mail I've also changed all of my online passwords today as most were the same as my PSN password. I was meaning to do it anyways as it was a massive security risk but it's been a massive pain the behind. Stupid Sony and stupid me 🙁

I'd suggest changing the fb and twitter passwords though for dure as my friend had his fb hacked and the hacker began messaging friends saying he was stuck in a foreign country and requesting a loan of money.

Out of the two I'd choose option A.

Also a possible option C would be:
Barton and Nani > Yaya and Kuyt. Then you could captain Dirk the tap in Kuyt. Something to consider if feasible.

    Luiz, Johnson, Huth (Walker, Simpson)
    Lamps, Adam, Young VDV (Nani)
    Rooney RVP Zamora

    2 free's

    Thinking:
    Nani > Silva
    Zamora > Odem
    Rooney > Suarez (4pt hit)

Is Rooney silly, i just think UTD attacking potential is not essential with 2 hard games and season pretty wrapped up, also rotation risk!!

Mindful of their upcoming fixture against bottom of the table West Ham and their subsequent double gameweek, it would seem logical at first to start recruiting in Manchester City players. The problem is that none of them really capture the imagination, do they? Also, West Ham made Chelsea work long and hard before they finally cracked last weekend (I can see more of the same on Sunday) and after that eve, TOT aren't exactly the easiest fixtures.

Thank goodness for Luis Suarez then. Mark my words, Liverpool are going to stick 4 or 5 past Newcastle on Sunday; if they were any hotter at Anfield they'd be ablaze! My little Urugayan friend is a hat-trick waiting to happen. Be with him when it happens!

I have a funny feeling Blackpool will nick this one. They've been poor recently, but I genuinely think they could stay up with Stoke/Bolton still to play at home. If they do, Adams going to be in the points.

Odem is on fire, Adam isn't. Stoke also have the ideal central defence to counter his schtick. That said, I'm doing pretty badly.

I'm pondering who'll score more, Nani or Adam?

Suarez over Kuyt for sure but I think we're missing Joseph's point here which is that he thinks Newcastle will shut up shop and keep the scoreline respectable and fantasy returns paltry.

I disagree though. Another rout in store me thinks.

In light of all of the GW35 love for Kuyt I think this should be tempered with a few points: Carroll is on the cusp of a return pushing him back into midfield, they are away to Fulham next week, Liverpool's away form is patchy and the Cottage is practically a fortress.

No doubt Kuyt's a good option for this week BUT if it's a choice between Kuyt or city coverage for the next few gameweeks I am definitely going City.

Suarez though may be a different matter altogether as City nor Spurs possess any desireable options up front.

I'd say they are fabulous moves even if a hit is involved.

I'm dodgy about hits, but it's always more lucrative/secure when you are changing a rotation risk for a player who is a sure starter with good fixtures.

                Go for it.
