Having covered half of the Premier League in part one, the second half of our focus on the remaining fixtures switches to those teams facing a less than favourable path to gameweek 38. Read on for team-by-team analysis of the opponents they face, the motivation left in the tank and the player prospects to consider…

Arsenal

Final three fixtures: [stk, AVL, ful]
Away trips against two of the strongest home sides in the league threaten to throw further disappointment the way of Arsene Wenger’s men. The Gunners put in a determined show against United on Sunday however, and will surely go to the Britannia going all out for three points. Defensive returns will, as always, continue to look fragile and with slight injury doubts over Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, the onus will be on Robin Van Persie, and perhaps Theo Walcott, to produce at the sharp end. Van Persie’s form continues to be outstanding with a goal or an assist in 6 of his last 7 outings. Few Fantasy Managers will be getting rid then, although new investors will likely look elsewhere given the away fixtures and the likely hit on Arsenal’s motivation once the title slips to a mathematical impossibility.

Banker: Robin Van Persie Differential: Theo Walcott

Everton

Final three fixtures: [MCY, wba, CHE]
The Toffees have come good with their regular second half of the season resurgence which has seen them shoot up to table to sit comfortably in the top half. With fixtures against them however, David Moyes’ men are going to find it hard to add points to their tally with home encounters against top of the table sides and a trip to a more resolute West Brom outfit. Leighton Baines’ raiding runs and the possibility of retaining spot-kick duties following Mikel Arteta’s miss at Wigan, keeps him afloat as an end of season prospect.

Banker: Leighton Baines Differential: Tim Cahill

Liverpool

Final three fixtures: [ful, TOT, avl]
Liverpool’s form is outstanding and their fifth place ambitions certainly remain realistic. They will go into every game expecting three points right now but with tough trips to Fulham and Villa, plus a titanic clash with Spurs at Anfield, nothing will come easy for Kenny Dalglish’s side. Dirk Kuyt and Luis Suarez will surely attract investment following their weekend points haul but those chasing points will have to consider the fact that, even in their current run of form, Liverpool have scored more than one goal only once in their last 5 away games.

Banker: Luis Suarez Differential: Dirk Kuyt

Chelsea

Final three fixtures: [mun, NEW, eve]
Chelsea’s trip to Manchester United is a season definer that will shape the title race and our end of season Fantasy plans. If Carlo Ancelotti’s side can earn a result at Old Trafford then the final two games suddenly look more appealing and potentially rewarding in Fantasy terms. Goal difference could prove vital come the final count, meaning that Chelsea will be on the attack with Fantasy returns looking assured.

Banker: Frank Lampard Differential: Fernando Torres

Birmingham

Final three fixtures: [new, FUL, tot]
Alex McLeish’s outfit are limping their way to Premier League safety but they are far from out of the woods. The fixture list offers a mixed bag with the home clash with Fulham looking easily the most vital match-up remaining. Just 2 goals in their last 3 outings, with a single clean sheet in 9 sums up the current form. Fantasy Managers are surely likely to steer clear at both ends, with Ben Foster’s Save Points and Roger Johnson’s occasional Bonus Point potential providing the only real glimmer of promise.

Banker: Ben Foster Differential: Seb Larsson

Blackburn

Final three fixtures: [whm, MUN, wlv]
Steve Kean’s side won a vital three points against Bolton and, with two away fixtures in three, it’s clear just how precious they may prove. United’s visit to Ewood could be the game that seals the title for Alex Ferguson’s men and Rovers surely cannot look to that game for points with any real confidence. Attacking returns may materialise at West Ham and Wolves should Rovers be forced to fight to preserve their status; clean sheets look unlikely, although Chris Samba’s goal threat from set-pieces may yet come into play.

Banker: Chris Samba Differential: Junior Hoilett

Blackpool

Final three fixtures: [tot, BOL, mun]
Prospects seem bleak for Ian Holloway’s side with two away trips at White Hart Lane and Old Trafford remaining. The home tie with Bolton is without doubt the Tangerines’ best hope of earning the points to save their status, unless they can muster a result to frustrate the ambitions of Harry Redknapp’s Spurs this weekend. The final day trip to United may yet provide potential, although if United are still being pushed by Chelsea at that point, it’s hard to see any joy for Holloway on the final day. Fantasy Managers may well hold Charlie Adam for the Bolton clash, although his alarming dip in form, with strong midfield prospects elsewhere, is likely to spark increased sales over the coming week.

Banker: Charlie Adam Differential: DJ Campbell

Aston Villa

Final three fixtures: [WIG, ars, LIV]
Villa’s easy passage of fixtures has almost past them by, with their final two gameweeks handing them testing match-ups with Arsenal and Liverpool. Heavy returns look unlikely in those games, but the weekend Villa Park clash with Wigan is a vital one for the visitors that could draw goals for both sides over the 90 minutes. Those holding to Darren Bent and Ashley Young may well let that fixture pass before selling on.

Banker: Darren Bent Differential: Ashley Young

Stoke

Final three fixtures: [ARS, mcy, WIG]
Stoke not only have the FA Cup Final to provide a major distraction, they also have the controversy of their gameweek 37 fixture with City, a match which Stoke could be better off losing. Motivation and Fantasy prospects are clearly questionable then, with pride and Cup final places the only reasons for Tony Pulis’ side to fight till the end. Robert Huth’s dominant presence in the opposition box at set-plays has no regard for fixtures however, and that could keep him installed in many a Fantasy squad till the final weekend.

Banker: Robert Huth Differential: Jermaine Pennant

Fulham

Final three fixtures: [LIV, bir, ARS]
Mark Hughes’ side have by far the hardest final furlong to traverse this season. Their two home games against a Liverpool side resurgent under Kenny Dalglish and an Arsenal unit surely eager to end the season with a flourish, present few home comforts. Their away day meanwhile, has them travel to Birmingham who will surely be looking for three points to save their Premier League skins. Those holding onto Bobby Zamora and Clint Dempsey following recent profits will surely be planning an exit route right now.

Banker: Bobby Zamora Differential: Gael Kakuta

Is it worth a 4 point hit to get VDV in or should I go for no hit and just do Dempsey to modric?

I'd get VDV, and then captain him. Should more than pay off over the two games.

Alight lads. Since defence doesn't really matter when there ain't going to be many clean sheets between now and the end of the season how is this for a front 8.

      Adam, Nani, Lampard, Walters, Silva

      Odemwingie, Rooney, RVP

Thinking of doing Walters > VDV and Rooney > Hernandez. Only need to do Rooney move for cash and would be leaving it that way until the end of the season as I think Hernandez will get at least 3 goals in the last 2 games. He's playing much further forward than Rooney, almost as the lone striker. My rival has VDV so this would neutralise that threat. It would basically leave me with Lampard, Nani, Silva v.s Kuyt, Nasri, Walters.

What do you think? I'm chasing about a 10 point lead at the moment so the 4 point his this week would extend that further but I think I'll be left with a much better middle than his right?

I'd rather lose Nani than Rooney to be honest. He's no longer a guaranteed starter.

Also not that keen on Hernandez, at least not for the next two - CHE bla. Why not Nani > VDV and then upgrade Walters to someone like Yaya/Modric?

Hmmmm......cheers for the food for thought. Not keen on having 3 TOT, MCY players in the middle of the park to be honest. Personally I think Chelsea will get something this weekend and Utd will have to play Nani and continue having Hernandez as the main man up front with Rooney behind him trying to pull the strings.

Glad to see someone else has a good judge of character. The day David Haye really lost what little respect I had for him, and broke the egomaniac scale, was when I heard what he called his child... Do you know what it is?

Right on: I assume this has been mentioned recently, but I've been away for a bit - so perhaps a little help ...

This Busquets and his supposed 'mono' ... although [if true] immoral and possibly unethical, is it truly punishable? As 'unsportsmanlike'? Where is the line drawn, as I assume 'f*cker' is not enough?

Wanting to add another reason to hate Barca, but not convinced this is it ...

        Little help?

Not sure what the offence is actual called, but players have definitely been banned in the past for making racist remarks. Have you seen the video of incident? Pretty conclusive, removes the need for the [if true]!

The juxtaposition of his racist antics and the UNICEF print on his shirt is quite glorious.

No, haven't seen the vid - hence the qualifier.

If Busquets had simply questioned his heterosexuality, or his sister's/mother's honor, or *whatever*, would this be a 'major' issue?

Despicable, him ... but I'm just wanting clarity in policy that might not exist, I guess.

I remember an Anderlecht player (Serbian striker whose name escapes me) was sent off vs. Liverpool for making a racist comment. AFAIK the ban stood, despite him denying the charge.

Most of the time, governing bodies scoot around it though - see Schmeichel/Wright incident in '97, or Ruddock/Vieira in '99.

I wouldn't say it is, I'm sure the brothers on the team will sort them out. I'm sure he'll play it off internally as saying 'que mono' which is a weird way Spaniards say 'how cute'. My guess is, with Abidal back in the mix, he may be made an example of. Annd I wouldn't expect a big fuss to me made of it. Or he could be the douche that he is, and not fess-up. That covering the mouth thing works miracles.

I'd love to know if he really said that, and what was said to Keita that made him switch from mild mannered to wanting a fight at the end of the first half.

I think that might be because it's a cup game, the other team are from Lithuania where as Ventspils are from Latvia.

In the tournament Ventspils have kept 9 out of 10 cleanies too so I think win to nil could be a good bet although wouldn't bet much on it!

                  Huth > Lescott.

Playing Lescott, Luiz and Walker this week. Really fancy Chelsea at OT to sneak a 1-0 win, I know most will probably bench Luiz though.

I don't really see a cleanie in either game for City tbh but meh, they have a good fixture after the double anyway and Lescott/Lolarov are always good for attacking points despite being useless players.

Yeah, I only do it on personal preference though. Walker has the best fixture on paper out of all of your defenders but I personally think Wigan will do alright and get something against Villa at the weekend.

        3. AYoung and Adam to VDV and Silva (4 pt hit)

Well I had no idea who to get it defensively. I figures with 3 games in two GWs it should pay off. It was free anyway.

I have my leagues wrapped up and I just broke into the 3.9K range which far exceeds my expectations and the best I've ever done. I'm not really point chasing or anything. I may just Yaya and call it a day.

I know he will take a cple of hits this week.. so im about 10/15 points clear.

Im thinking just one change..best yr ive had too, want to try finish inside top 5k

Might previous highest was 65k. So I've had quite the improvement. I don't know if to settle or take gambles. Don't take hits if you don't have to..it'll surely help you. Good luck!

no he plays richards right back for his attacking, zabaleta has played dm as well. Lescott and kompany will be his 2 cbs.

Richards is only just back in training..

Mate id make dempsey the one to go if possible - young has too god a fixture not to score points - bale plays left back now so your in a pickle there i think - maybe dawson for coleman and lampard for VDV.

            definitely ditch dempsey...

The thing about young is he has a great fixture this week but over the next three weeks he'll probably get an low points per game so it may be worth removing him now to avoid taking a hit / playing him later. It's a weird situation to be in, true

I'd do two or three this week if I were you... You're going to want to get in a few doublers but also prepare yourself for not wanting to field any villa players after this weekend. Bale is pretty useless these days, not that he was ever that great. I think he'll probably play at left back anyway. Having said that, it's madness to ditch a doubler.

          Maybe go:

          Young > VDV
          Simpson > Lescott
          Dempsey > Yaya ?

i have to say im doing ok this year but im in the top 1k. (first time in 3 years playing). hits dont concern me for 2 reasons:

            1. Nothing worse when the teams have been locked and you look at your rivals team and he has more dgw players than you -considering dgw can span 10 days its too long to be stressing witbhout coverage.

            2. Hits are "halved"n somewhat with the dgw so why not go an 8 or 12 point hit if can.

I suffered other years being too cautious in this game - ive played aggresive this year and it has worked - in any event if your going to go for it now id the time. Just my thoughts.

You only need VDDV and Silva. Who else would you want from such tight fixtures and low scoring Citeh?

Then who on earth are you going to trade them out for?

You can get Modric, Silva, VDV and Yaya but which midfielders are you going to go without?

Kuyt? Young? Nani? Fabregas? Adam? Lampard? Malouda?

I've checked my team score 3 times this week.
First time: Silva had 5 points and Foster 1 after all the bonus points had been allocated
Second time: Silva had now been awarded 2 bonus points, Foster still on 1 point
Third time: Foster now on 4 points with an Assist?!
Not that i'm complaining that my points keep going up, but what is going on?>anyone else noticed?!

          E. Not point benching a 12 mill player when at home. I think though that Adam's time has come and gone. Who you buy in for him is another question. I'd be tempted to sit tight this week, save a tranny and do two next week. You have a good team for this week so stay as you are. Good luck 🙂

        Hello guys
I am also tempting to grab the dgw points so I need somehow VdV to get in.
        the ways are:

A Adam, Vidic out - VdV, Cahill in (0,3 in the bank, -4pts)
B Walters, Rooney out - VdV, Suarez in (0,0! in the bank, -4pts)
C Walters, Downing out - VdV Sandro in (0,5 -4pts)

what would be your choice? appreciate your advices very much

A tricky one as a hit is unavoidable for VDVD. Walters needs to go and in most weeks, Balotelli. My first thought would be Balotelli + Walters -> VDVD + Suarez but I don't think this works.

Possibly Rooney may have to be sacrificed for Suarez to get VDV in.

now I see another way to get in Yaya as well (but -8pts):

WALTERS ADAM VIDIC out - DVD YAYA and some 5,3 defender - but WHO???

              GALLAS WALKER CARR ... ?
